i honestly thought she was born 2001 or 02 this whole time πππ sheβs always felt older than me (03β),…
It's the character's age that truly matters in live-action, not the actors.
Shakespeare and his contemporaries would be shocked people are complaining about the actor's age in fiction.
Yes, yes, it's weird. But it is never about the actor's age. And it's not like IRe has been paired with a senior citizen and had a kissing scene. I seriously doubt IRe will accept that. π
ohh thatβs why the rating is this low. because people are downvoting for politics ππ Iβm gonna start…
Exactly.
The writer simply used what was historically a fact because the scene was during that period, not in 2025. It would be a big fat lie if the writer wrote how the region was peaceful at that time period when it was not.
And either way, this is from the viewpoint of people living in Korea who mainly don't understand English and rarely get balanced news from abroad. What do they expect?
Look at mainland China. Many Chinese often fall for English-based satire news because of the language barrier and imbalance news reporting from their own media.
The Philippines, my own country, is almost always depicted as a place where Korean criminals can escape and roam free. There is a reason behind that and it goes back to the Korean government, not the Philippine government.
I've worked with many Korean clients, and whenever they visit the Philippines for the first time, they always say the same things, "The Philippines isn't how their media, government, and drama, paints it to be." And they themselves admitted it was because of bias reporting and the language barrier.
Koreans living in the Philippines also had a couple of documentaries about them. In one such, they themselves explained that the reason there are rarely any arrest of Korean criminals in the Philippines was because the Korean government are ignoring the requests of the Philippines. Countries can't just arrest a foreign national. There are rules to follow. Diplomatic relations to consider. Etc. etc.
And they explained how it os convenient for the Korean government to hide in another country because then they're no longer a menaci in Korea. It just so happen that it's easy to enter the Philippines illegally because how can you possibly patrol an archipelago with countless of entry points? You can't. Even the mighty US, China, Korea, UK, Japan, won't be able to do that. There will always be a way to enter illegally.
That's why the Philippines is always painted as a safe haven for Korean criminals. It is not about the Philippines lacking in security and laws, rather, it is about how the Korean government is ignoring requests from the Philippines to arrest Korean criminals. Add the imbalance news their media reports and the language barrier, it's a recipe for writers to write a story they know nothing about.
What more, the ones who taught them English were and still are the Filipinos. Yet they laugh at anyone, even their own countrymen, who speaks Philippine English. Why? Because they see British English as "classy". In fact, many of their Kinglish words are written in Hangeul based on the British pronunciation. They are worshipping British English, and the British, when they never did anything significant to their country, while ignoring the country they actually learn English from and looking lowly at the Filipinos who helped them in their time of needs, like the Korean War.
Anyone complaining how their country was depicted negatively, please, that's nothing to what we've been enduring for decades.
So, yeah, just ignore them alisha. Besides, them complaining here on MDL? LOL, nothing will happen to it. They just want to piss off other fans. Just block them.
Lesson of the day. It's fine to eat a flying squirrel's feces as long as you don't take ginger. It's medicine,…
I can't imagine the actors during that scene. π I wouldn't be surprised if a crew told them it was real and they had to taste it to capture genuine reaction. π€ͺ
They lied to us. The prince was not on the brink of death. A kid like that, pampered, always eating complete meals, got sick and did not eat for 4β5 days, and convulsed the entire time while they were preparing his food, survived?
No way. Only adults can survive that, or kids used to not eating. π€£π€£ππ
I probably didn't explain it well in my initial comment but there is a whole history, decades of horrible transgender…
I understand where you're coming from. But, at the same time you have to consider that this is a Korean production.
Korea is one of those countries that is so far behind when it comes to equality, equity (fairness), LGBT, Neurodiversity, education and improvement. Even in employee benefits, security, rights, salary, they are lagging behind. They're a first world country but third world countries like the Philippines is more advance in those areas.
Then again maybe it's not fair to compare them to the Philippines since equality, equity, LGBT, Neurodiversity, employee rights and benefits, etc, were core in "Filipino" culture in pre-colonial times. Those only became an issue when the White people conquered us. So, after we kicked the invaders, we slowly returned to our roots.
But Korea oe the other hand, their history is not one where equality, equity, etc. are a core of their culture. And this is reflecting to this very day.
The only ones who can truly change their culture is them. For the rest of us, all we can do is express our frustration like what you did, and hope they take notice.
Or, maybe β¦ the wife?I mean, why would they cast an expensive actor like her the role is insignificant?Which…
Yep. It can't be just a regular casting. And of everyone of her level, she's the only one who appears to be a support character. There must be more to her character they haven't revealed yet.
This the problem with the earlier times: stupid "innocence" test.
Korean: Torture them until they admit the truth. = What they're actually saying is "Torture them until they say what we want to hear".
Philippines: Tie them to the tree, if the fire ants swarm and bite them, they're guilty. If not, they're innocent.
Babylon: Throw them to the lion's den. If they are still alive the next morning, they are innocent. If they were eaten, consider it a death punishment.
Somewhere I can't remember: Throw them to a boiling oil. If they come out alive intact, they're innocent. If they die or disfigured, it's punishment.
United States: If they're white, let them go. If they're anything but white, kill them.
For all the inherently good about humanity, we collectively fail at logic. π€·π½
Pandora should've kept the box (it was actually a jar) opened because logic did not bother to escape. Logic realized, "Why would I escape to the world filled with sorrow and war?" Pandora, you seriously failed humanity.
This is what I was saying, the director told the real truth that this drama was going to have a lot of cooking,…
Exactly. Netflix, and other North American OTT service, always set the expectation incorrectly. Netflix is the most notorious. They'll choose a title that is far different from the original, even though the original and exact translation is better. They'll change the genre and synopsis. They even create trailers with a different plot/teaser.
Some say they are only trying to fit it to their target audience, the North Americans. If so, then their changes should only reflect in North America. But as we all know that was and is never the case.
Never trust Netflix. Disney and Amazon are the same but Netflix is far more guilty of it
1. Department Chief: Chief Office Decor (waste of oxygen) 2. Insubordinate female dectective: Frog (the real department clown, I mean chief) 3. Disrespectful male detective: Fatso (always sulking to Frog) 4. Team Captain: Captain Pussy (a team captain Frog and Fatso freely steps on)
Or, maybe, the Chief Office Decor, already knew who the suspect is but he's being forced to keep quiet about it? So, technically he is a co-conspirator?
Shakespeare and his contemporaries would be shocked people are complaining about the actor's age in fiction.

I can't get enough of IRe. She has a different charm here. And the way her face and expressions matured were perfect.
She's like a person in their 30s with all the varied experience in life type of aura. Wise and mature.
And the shape of her face, Michaelangelo's perfect human symmetry. So pleasant to look at. It draws you in. Inner peace.

But it's not surprising. I mean, even in 2025, security in Korean jail is still lax (in fiction). π
It's fine to eat a flying squirrel's feces as long as you don't take ginger. It's medicine, otherwise, it becomes poison.

Not even Jang Geum was able to do such feat. π€£π€£π€£π€£

The Royal Physician knows far better thae today's pharmaceutical companies and doctors. π€£π€£π€£
The FL knows how to make REAL instant healing food!
*sigh* When are we as a species going to learn these things. Even today, there are many who are like that, and usually those in power. π€·π½
