OK SO WOW THIS SHOW IS SO DAMN GOOD. DAMN.DAMN.Let me tell you guys I've watched A LOT of tv shows from all kinds…
It’s fun to see you and others here so happy. I am, too for the writing, the music, the co-stars, direction, and our beloved leads. CLOY has just touched me and made me really happy these days. Her beauty and sass he loves, his warm eyes and sweet protectiveness: both gorgeous, funny, smart, and just dreamy. :)

Yupon, I completely agree with you. It’s interesting how those scenes are still being used to tell the backstory.…
Hi, DJRuth. Exactly I think so, too. He has that photo. But he also does things in his own time...big time. Our Captain has known at least since the Bridge, and then we got a bit more today. Basically, he’s been saving her since then when he led her off the bridge because he knew she was in trouble. Then at the DMZ line he asked her never to be lonely in a scenic place again. It all seems to be moving toward Switzerland. At least that’s where my head is today. :)

In the Switzerland scenes, which have worked like refrains in poetry and song from the beginning, I think a bit more is revealed each time if we watch closely. I don’t want to say too much more than that as viewers catch up. But what I’m feeling right now is that things are looking as though neither of them can remain in either Korea...together or apart. It’s just too dangerous. So it is possible the Switzerland theme is there from the beginning because it will be their refuge in the end—-and he has truly always been by her side. Fingers tightly crossed.

One of the most overrated drama. I don't know how this drama can get 9.0 ratings.
Please defend this generalization that millions are wrong with specific examples from the eleven episodes currently available.

Brilliant writing, direction, and acting in a heartbreaking but ultimately hopeful narrative. Very impressive film from Taiwan.

I think it’s well-written, acted, and directed with important themes, but I have seen Korean movies as good and better. However, I’m still glad for the attention and awards if these bring more viewers to enjoy Korean cinema.

One of the themes that moves me as much as the love story itself is the production’s respect and affection for North Korea. Though the monster is a North Korean, and there are scary others in NK, the hero of the series is a stunning North Korean army captain who has become one of the most beloved characters in the world today. The adorable side kicks in the series are his sweet North Korean squad and the hilarious NK village ajummas. These precious people along with our protective hero become family, ours as well as our beloved Se-Ri’s. It’s a charming and hopeful story of a people who never should have been driven apart.

CLOY is a lovely antidote to stuff I definitely don’t want to put up with these days. I’d rather listen to Capt. Ri’s “low voice” as he rescues and protects Se-Ri, and watch her tease him and protect him, too, as they both fall more and more in love. “I’ve been looking for you everywhere.” Indeed.

If you read the most comments here you would realize that people actually like this show. Not everyone cares how…
Amen. The writer is solid, the director and cast are at the top of their game, and fans both experienced with KDrama and brand new are loving the story and relationships.

Maybe for you but not for me.
Ditto. I’m going to borrow this for every time I read a snark from now on. :) I’m having such a good time with this series.

Mega-talented actor and singer, and one of the most tragic downfalls. It’s heartbreaking.

It's one of the few dramas I actually own.
Me too. I only buy the ones I treasure.

I fall in love with this drama more and more every episode. I don't think I've ever been attached to every single…
Love and agree with your commentary.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I think this is my favorite role of Hyun Bin's by far. I cried when she played…
Oh, you did say it better. I just finished reading your analysis: it’s beautiful. I love both of them, and I agree this is his best performance. I think he knows it because he just keeps deepening it. Breathtaking. And the song. I haven’t found it yet on Apple, but 4 others.

I love how the story is about love, mutual protection, healing, and defiance in the face of danger. And it manages to do so with touches of humor and even teasing. The leads are backed by comic characters in Ri’s squad and the village women who adopt Se Ri. They are both wonderful additions to the narrative. Ep. 9 Favorite quote: “How would I forget about a woman who fell from the sky?” “I didn’t fall. I descended.” The style of this drama is in those lines, and so many delivered with calm, and often wry humor. . . . and then the main characters’ love moves me again and again. This is such a beautiful, mature story, told especially through Hyun Bin’s quiet voice and steady eyes. Though I love his warm voice, in this performance, he says more with his eyes than most actors do with paragraphs of script. And then he quietly takes that “single step.” He is amazing, and Son Ye Jin’s Se Ri is the perfect chatty, yet wounded complement to his steady character. These two characters will comfort and save each other over and over. And that is love.

This series is not bad but it is not outstanding either. It's just in the middle. There are many good and heartwarming…
Exactly. I have been so frustrated by this very issue. For me the main story and cast deserved so much better.

kang’s abrupt change in character is so unnatural... with more focus on the main characters instead of the side…
This is exactly my issue with the entire series.

Slooow burner for sure. I warn you all, this is not a romantic drama. This is a dram with tragedy and sad stuff…
Agree. I think the actors and director worked their hearts out in a script that never really delivers.

“I came for you.” These beloved leads are beautifully matched, balancing one another perfectly, and this weekend’s performances as the love deepens moved me to tears. And although like many I have loved Hyun Bin for years, in this performance he is so quiet, yet looms so large physically, intellectually, and emotionally. This is a mature Hyun Bin who quietly masters every scene, yet never dominates others. He is in command, and the only presence that matches his is that of Son Ye Jin. If the series continues at this high level of writing, acting, and directing, it could well become a classic.
