Only 2 eps in, totally enthralled. This crime series with excellent director and fine cast led by the brilliant master, Jan Hyuk, is a feast for lovers of police procedural, especially Korean. The screenwriters are Ko Young-Jae and Han Ki-Hyun (from Asian Wiki). I sent this to the MDL staff.
Crash Landing on You is now the most wonderful Korean drama ever, in my opinion. All the factors you mentioned…
I agree, and I will be adding the DVD to my collection as soon as it appears on Amazon. I have downloaded all the music, and listen to the songs in my office. :) I love these characters so much and am hoping for a glorious closure for our sweet lovers and all their friends next weekend.
CLOY has a brilliant lead love story with a quiet NK military man and a dynamic SK business woman who are both in incredible danger throughout. CLOY has charming second leads discovering themselves, wise Village aghimma, and an adorable but tough squad. All of these characters create friendships that provide love, protection, and if necessary, save lives on the line. They’re also hilarious, including the brave captain! But most of all, it's the love and devotion that have made Crash Landing an International success. One more weekend, and we still have no idea how the production will close. It’s been a thrilling and sweet winter adventure with a talented production team.
Hyun Bin served in the Marines, and has developed an admirable army officer in Capt. Ri. The captain is courageous, kind, strong, devoted, stalwart. He is also deeply hurt by tragedy, in love with a very challenging woman who is also deeply hurt, and he has the complete trust and affection of his squad and the Village Ahjumma. Capt. Ri is a man of few words who speaks with his eyes, and often with his silence: he is wise but also sometimes childlike which makes him even more lovable. And, of course, Capt. Ri is gorgeous. For me, there is no “cheese”, but instead, love, devotion, respect, trust, and a lot of delightful humor. And if the writer wants to keep having him and Seri save one another, that is fine with me, because I don’t demand “realism” in this drama: there is far too much crappy realism in my country right now. I just want these precious characters to be there for me when I turn on Netflix this weekend......and make me smile when Capt. Ri sighs, closes his eyes when everyone taxes his patience once again, and then takes care of them all one more time. His quiet strength and love for Seri and his squad are the love story that calls me back to CLOY each weekend, and why I will miss it when the story is completed.
Beautiful OST. I’ve been downloading the songs from Apple to a Korean playlist on my IPhone. That’s the coolest…
How cool. I’ve picked up Korean words and phrases but not the whole language, which I love. I plan to visit Korea in a couple of years. My family gave me a framed print of Seoul at night for Christmas. They get me. :)
Something I’m enjoying: those of us who love our characters, lead and co-stars, and are also super conscious of the brilliant writer of “You Who Came from the Star” taking us with her on this journey. She has charmed us and also drawn us into some great discussions of CLOY here. It’s really been fun.
Yupon as I said before I’m right there with you. I was so excited for this new episode I watched as soon as…
LOL! That’s still another thing I like: the way the writer and team pull everything together across time and the story so they help knit everything together with a sly wink.
Looking forward to when Ju Muk meets Choo Ju Woo. Wonder if that’s why they’re in suits next week? The sister-in-law…
Totally agree about the hapless rather clueless but not evil brother. The s-i-l is a viper on track to out Capt. Ri. He’s a gentleman, but I hope he puts her in a box.

Well said, DJ. It’s my happy place right now. I couldn’t start it until late morning because of family stuff. But they know my passion and took off so I could settle in with coffee and CLOY. I love KDrama, but this one.....I don’t need to write more.
Eeeeee!! Possible major spoiler of something from next week. I won’t say what it is but go watch the little…
I’ve looked at those last few minutes three times: lots of reveals we’ve been waiting for, but I can’t find him in front of a plant saying something that might be a next-week spoiler, but I’m also loopy from the whole episode.
Just finished ep 12 after the full range of hilarity, joy, love, longing, reveals, heartache, more love, sweetness, surprises, kindnesses, and then again so much more. Writer has turned the corner into the final leg of this precious journey she is taking us on, and I will gladly travel with her through smiles and tears, but I’m almost afraid. Will she thrill us, or will she break our hearts. But we’re still here whichever track she takes. That is talented writing, direction, and acting by amazing artists who care about the story and the characters. Damn, this series is so wonderful. Cheesy and predictable as some claim? They have every right. However, I’m a grown woman in tears over how beautiful this series is. It’s enough.
Yupon, I completely agree with you. It’s interesting how those scenes are still being used to tell the backstory.…
Ah. I missed the frame. I’ll watch for it when I go back over scenes. The haters would call me a hopeless fan girl. Lol!
I think you nailed. The look was a bit different, wasn’t it? Like others, I’ve been enchanted by Hyun Bin’s expressive eyes, especially in CLOY, but there is definitely a subtle difference in that scene.

I love all the characters and the writer who is excellent. I think the film is very compassionate to both countries.
We are definitely not in NK anymore ;)

That he wanted to stay there? Yes. Can he? Very worried about him
