On Time Between Dog and Wolf Aug 6, 2020
My second viewing of this series, one of the finest KDramas with a great cast of among the best Korean actors, also excellent writing and directing. I love both MLs and their carefully developed characters, but want to give a shout out to the FL, Nam Sang Mi, who handles all the wrist-grabbing and emotional and physical manhandling from these gorgeous but twice-her-size guys with grace and toughness. Also, the central bad guy is definitely a dangerous thug, but with moments of humanity that make him much more complex than usually seen in these plots. This series is relatively early in the Korean Wave, but the use of the dreaded amnesia trope is central this time and works well. Strong recommendation for South Korean crime series at its best.

What a wonderful career this lovely gentleman has had and such warm joy he gives to his fans.

Quarantine time and working from home is also a good time to go back and watch my dvd collection of favorite KDramas and movies. This one has favorite actors, great supporting cast and director, writer. Perfect, of course not. Delightful, funny, romantic, tragic, historical with time slips and more. It is just as delightful as when I saw it four years ago.

Stunning performance in “It’s Okay...”. I was mesmerized by his perfection and even after years of watching, I am once again so impressed by South Korean actors, writers, and directors.
On Son Ho Jun Jul 19, 2020
Person Son Ho Jun
He can play any part from comedy to drama and is especially good in Mrs. Cop as both dramatic and action character.
On Mystic Pop-Up Bar Jul 18, 2020
Great title on this charming KDrama. I loved the cast, the humor, some really thought-provoking stories and lines. But I also felt it was sometimes uneven, and the closure though satisfying I found a bit meh. Still, it’s very enjoyable, and I’m glad I watched it. Recommended.
On Kim Mi Kyung Jul 8, 2020
Person Kim Mi Kyung
She is the best of the best. When Kim Mi Kyung‘s lovely presence appears, I settle back, relax and enjoy her perfect performance every time.
On When the Weather Is Fine Jun 30, 2020
Love both leads; not crazy about the rest of the cast and subplots. I agree with those who think the series is slow and disjointed; then it fragments into side stories and repetitive flashbacks with increasingly less focus on the main story and leads, which are why I tuned in. These for me are serious script problems from a writer I would not seek out in future series choices.

Title Mrs. Cop
Great cast in an enjoyable action-police procedural.
On It's Okay to Not Be Okay Jun 28, 2020
The sets and music are so gorgeous, and I love all the cast, especially our leads. Very happy with this week’s episodes and the evolving narrative. I’m not at all concerned about ratings (I think MDL often rates better), but I will say this: since the series is a complex study of a range of emotional and mental histories that take time to develop and understand, perhap some viewers don’t have the patience to last. That’s fine, but it is perhaps unwise to judge much less rate a complex series one has not given time, much less finished.

From the way the first episode opened—such exquisite beauty and care taken with imagery—I felt we are in the hands of craftsmen consciously making something beautiful for us. And the whole cast has been chosen so carefully, but our beloved main leads are especially breathtaking in this series. I love the way she loves his beauty (and her voice is so seductive), but she is also obsessed and ill: he will need all his skill to help her heal, and that will be intriguing to watch.
On The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion Jun 19, 2020
Another very clever, excellent South Korean film. Not taking anything from Parasite, but there are dozens of great films from the best film capital in the world that audiences are catching up with, which means we will get to enjoy even more for a long time.
On The King: Eternal Monarch Jun 12, 2020
KES is one of SK’s finest writers. Her name on a script usually means the series is not just gold but platinum. I don’t know why this plot is such a mess, but even though the cast is stellar, they nor the director, who is also respected, could save the series. Most serious, long-time fans of KDrama, this cast, and writer know it is a failure, and have spoken clearly about it here and on Drama Beans. I don’t need to add to their detailed and accurate commentary. Sadly, KES owns the failure of her script. But she’s a great writer, and the cast is talented, so may their next ventures be magnificent.
On Dear My Friends Jun 8, 2020
Writing, directing, and acting are, of course, all superb; and the series won deserved awards. For me personally, some of these seniors, especially Wan’s mother, hit too close to home. Unlike many commenters, I was not that charmed by the seniors (and I’m one myself) but more interested in the relationship between Wan and Yeon Ha, the brilliant couple in the kind of love we all hope for, but who had been so damaged by fate and intrusion. So I was watching this series differently for the most part: sometimes when older parents treat their children like property even into adult ages, they are destructive, and the adult children have to fight for their independence. Sometimes senior adults treat each other with contempt as well. It’s not always funny or charming: sometimes the stories are tragic because of decisions made and mistakes borne as a result. They don’t always learn from them, which the writer clearly acknowledged. On the other hand, the friendships, even sisterhood, between these women are warm and compassionate—pure gold and for me the best part.

Title 26 Years
There are better films about the 1980 massacre than this gore-filled plot mess, e,g, “May 18,” “A Petal,” and “A Taxi Driver.”
On Chief of Staff Jun 2, 2020
Disappointing. Unrelenting repetitive study of corruption. Won’t be bothering with the second season.
On The King: Eternal Monarch May 31, 2020
I love the cast and the writer who has such a stellar history, but this is her first miss, IMO. LMO is a fine actor who is given very little to do but stand and stare and be beautiful. So he’s being unfairly criticized by some. There is little chemistry with KGE, also a good actor. It’s just not there. I think both leads made a mistake in joining this production. The plot is a mess, and I don’t see KES able to write her way out of it at this point.
On Hospital Playlist May 29, 2020
Brilliant and beautiful; sweet and wonderful. Strongly recommended, and cannot wait for the next seasons with this fabulous cast, director, and writer. What a treat.
On The Lies Within May 29, 2020
In the first two minutes, two major errors by a detective —the ML— and it went downhill from there. Sloppy.
