Title The Guest
I usually avoid horror, so I missed this one when it first came out. Then it popped up on Netflix this month, and because of being confined during COVID like millions, I decided to try it. The entire cast is wonderful, the writing and direction superb. And yes it’s scary in places but also deeply moving in the building of relationships, and a young person becoming what he was meant to be. However, I did think this could have been done well in 12 eps as the last ones felt repetitive and draggy.

Super talented, amazing actor. He is terrific in “The Guest.” When he’s in the series or film, I know we have a good one.

Title Road Number One Spoiler
One of SJS’s greatest performances, one of K-Drama’s greatest series.....until the ending which they blew. But watch it anyway for the story and the action. Just know that the makers weren’t paying attention to what they had. Such a shame.
On The Good Detective Nov 29, 2020
Excellent writer, director, leads, and supporting cast. I thoroughly enjoyed another fine Korean drama series, with a neat twist at the end.
On Son Hyun Joo Nov 27, 2020
Person Son Hyun Joo
Such a talented actor. When I see him in the cast, I know we’re going to have a great series.
On Mother Nov 8, 2020
Title Mother
Brilliantly acted and directed with a horrid storyline that filled me with loathing for this manipulative, narcissistic woman. I wanted to grab that precious son and his sister, and get them away from her. Such a heavy, tragic story about failure on the part of so many people, with the kids once again being the innocent victims. Though it is superior in so many ways, the story and outcome are so upsetting, I don’t recommend the film.

Person Lee Jung Eun
Many support actors are as good as the leads and have long, successful careers. I really enjoy her and many others.
On Queen and I Sep 28, 2020
Title Queen and I
This remains one of KDrama’s best series: sweet, warm, and charming. Sadly, though Ji Hyun Woo‘s performance is so wonderful, he has never matched it and has a spotty record since. I really like him and wish a great series and part for him. His career has foundered too long.
On Jang Hyuk Sep 28, 2020
Person Jang Hyuk
One of SK’s greatest and most deeply respected actors. He is so gifted, a genius who stretches in the roles he accepts to constantly test himself, completely disappearing into his characters and stunning his fans again and again. And that delightful laugh! What a joy is Jang Hyuk.

Title Flower of Evil Spoiler
I have enjoyed KDrama for almost ten years and until the ending liked this one very much, because the leads are favorites I never miss, and the entire cast was excellent. However, to tack onto this fine series the tired, outdated amnesia trope KDrama writers have been guilty of for 20 years and most fans loathe was not only a mistake, but a decision that ruined the closure of this series. Where the writer had a chance to take the story even higher into the themes of the power of love and family to defeat greed, madness, and cruelty, the writer lost inspiration and for me ruined the ending. That is not whining and carping on the part of those of us who decried the ending but in fact disappointment at the weak, out-of-ideas decision thrown in the faces of loyal, experienced viewers. The series and fans deserved better.
On The Slave Hunters Sep 15, 2020
One of JH’s finest performances in one of SK’s greatest series. Watching again during the COVID quarantine.

One observation: it is too long and would have been stronger at 16, no more than 20eps. There are too many filler scenes and other scenes that are stretched longer and repeated often. Still, I do love all the main characters and the story.

One more observation: as gorgeous and good as OJH is, as wonderful as JH’s little band are—Jang Hyuk is simply on a different level: watch him in any scene with other actors: they do a fine job, yes, but Jang Hyuk is so gifted that he completely disappears into his character, stunning us and breaking our hearts. He is a master: one of the finest Korean actors and one of the best actors in the world.
On Cho Seung Woo Sep 7, 2020
Person Cho Seung Woo
I’ve seen almost all his series and films and have loved him since “The Sword With No Name,” years ago—my favorite Korean love story. He is one of the finest actors in the world.

Question: Now I'm not a detective, nor do I play one on here, but how is everybody not going to jail at the end?…
I so loved this.
On Train Aug 22, 2020
Title Train
Humans love trains, and we also love them as symbols in our films and novels. “Train” is one of the best series I’ve enjoyed. Just sit back and watch a great writer, director, and cast (totally identified with their characters) take you on a time-slip journey of mystery, suspense, murder and mayhem with a splash of love and compassion. Yoon Shi Yoon, who has to slip in and out of time and identity, is amazing. My best rec is always, would I watch it again: this one definitely. Strongly recommended.

Title Was It Love? Spoiler
Everything she ~suspected about him, she made up in her own mind. He was not even purposely ignoring her, he was…
Agree with all of this. I cannot watch further because the writing is so bad, and I loathe the character played by the FL. Feel so sorry for the daughter and what is clearly her dad, SHJ, the only strong actor other than the kids. Note MDL doesn’t even list the writer. I looked him up— Lee Seung-Jin, with very few writing credits and lacking in comprehension of how to understand and build a believable female character.

Title Two Weeks
This is LJG, and that is all I need as I continue re-watching beloved KDramas while quarantined by COVID. I noticed the carping here, but others of us, the majority, like this series—and we have good reason. The number one is Lee Joon Gi. Always.
