Loved the series. Just a bit of a quibble with some filler scenes that I don’t have patience with. That’s just me, for I thought it was an amazing series with SHK giving the award winning performance of a lifetime. YJG held his own brilliantly as well, and the two actors moved me deeply. I will no doubt watch it again along with a couple of other dramas this year so far. Korean cinema just gets better and better, eclipsing almost everyone else.
I love most of the cast, enjoyed most of the series. But the final scene annoyed me. It’s not that this is a bad ending, but I felt the writer or director gave up on the script, or the actor was not available. To build this beautiful love story and not even show his sweet face upon the return after a year? The production deserves the criticism for that ridiculous cop out. I wish they would reshoot that scene and have LJH front and center in his beautiful self.
A tender and deeply moving series with a terrific cast, director, and writer. This and Navillera are my favorites so far this year and among SK’s best.
He’s one to watch. He caught my attention in CLOY Ep. 5. Almost two dozen guest roles and bit parts for two years, and getting experience. He should be moving up in his roles: has the look, voice, and presence for handling bigger parts and leads eventually.
Her activism makes us allies, and I would be marching and protesting with her. But she is so good in Vincenzo that I screamed at and wanted to smack her for 20 episodes. Geez she’s good.
Much like the image of the butterfly and the soul in poetry and art, this series is superb, sweet, and compassionate with the grace and elegance of ballet as the frame for the deeply touching real story. The cast, direction, cinematography, and writing are outstanding: not a misstep anywhere as all involved work to tell the story of discovery, friendship, love, support, forgiveness, and healing. Filmed with such love and gentleness, this is one of Korea's finest series in its relatively short but brilliant history. I cried a lot, especially in the second half, but the tears were because I was so moved by the script, actors, and story they told so well. Strongly recommended
An inept, lazy knock-off of "Sky Castle" with poor acting, even more screeching, hair pulling, and stupidity. KDrama is the best in the world except when it's not. Then it just produces caricatures like every other bad film making.
Superb cast, esp. JSW, one of Korea’s finest actors, proven great director, but weak script that started well, however became convoluted and messy to the point of meltdown. The ending isn’t clever; it’s “oh for Pete’s sake here we go again.” Series could have been cut and focused rather than constant repetition and a great villain becoming a cartoon character. The cast and audience all deserved better from the writer.
The script is weak in places, and much of the film is way over the top in unnecessary gore, but the excellent leads are outstanding. I loved their characters and the quiet scenes between them. The ending is very satisfying, and I also loved the neat twists in avenger and protector. It’s a good film for that alone.
