For those who find the ending ( without the plus 5 mins) misleading, sad or bittersweet;
Reading into the symbolisms: 1- the jade pendant. Her giving the pendant to him has MEANING. She knows it's worth it this time and that he will always bring it back to her, as he did before. If the jade pendant doesn't het back to her, this loses half meaning. And if the last shot was just an imagination, we could actually see his face instead of THE Pendant. 2- The red. It's the color of union ( wedding). In a dream or imagination (especially involving the dead) , they mostly go with white. If we see both of them wearing red as a union while we believe XH is dead, it can only mean that JL is dead too, which we know is not true. 3- The tree. A blossoming tree as a symbol usually means 'life'. If her wait was fruitless, they wouldn't have included the tree. I see the ending shots as a show of symbols, as I don't really think when XH comes back that is how they would've looked for real. But they're just to imply that he did come back and her wait did get concluded. ( Also, the leads had said in their interviews that it's indeed HE😉😊)
Aaah.. that is long😢 poor A Li after all she's been through now she also had to wait 5 years for her beloved to come back alive and well. Thanks for the answer

Actually it's not the first time it appears on screen with the leads, it has made an appearance and been focused on before. One that I remember clearly was when they were in the mine together and he gave her his undergarments to wear. The candle in JL's hand got special attention from the camera back then also. So we're safe to acknowledge the candle as a character of its own by now🤭 She ( I prefer to use a female pronoun for our candle ) is indeed 'passion', and she presents herself whenever ignited and summoned, and with these two, has become so concrete and palpable to get an actual shape and body. She also guards their privacy, since they're still not free of all bound yet, not ready to disclose it all. Once they are free and ready to give themselves up completely to the moment, they'll blow her off for us to see the real thing😉
Aaah this getting all worked up over the smallest things, it just never gets old for me🤭 I love the looks,…
When she called him by the name, and somehow confessed to knowing how destructive this whole game could be for her..I love that she actually uses that kind of addressing him as a code to be more open, more honest and vulnerable with him. And his reaction..he def understands the importance of what's to come after that. Another fun but telling detail and intended parallel was how XH actually approached JL in her miserable state worrying about her and trying to make her feel better, without any reluctance to get close to her , ( I see the whole giving her his own clothes throughout their adventures as an expression of deep intimacy, always trying to make her feel better with sth of his own) , while he actually covered his sight and turned his face seeing our little spider girl drunk and even tried to keep a very safe distance from her when he passed by🤭

Question 1: the drama is female centric but yes, IT IS THE DUKE.Question 2: He has appeared since ep 1 and has…
Well I still believe it's mutual and see it as that. As I wrote earlier, when a betrayed and broken woman like her is willing to trust her life in his hands, or defend him with her own life on the line, that's it for me. I don't need her to do exactly the same as he does, since they're just in different positions. Ofcourse, again as I wrote the entire idea of romance especially when it's displayed in subtle ways like this one can be quite subjective, I hope it does meet your expectations by the end though..

It's true that he's helped her more, but also true that he's got the better status and resources to do so, she has only her life to offer and she did, actually saved his life twice and blocked a sword for him despite thinking she was being used as a cover. Also when the time comes, she 'll also support him in getting what he wants, which is yet to come😊
I knew when JL asked Tong to stay by her side she was a goner. I also realised what JL was planning but the whole…
Question 1: the drama is female centric but yes, IT IS THE DUKE. Question 2: He has appeared since ep 1 and has slowly but consistently built his place in JL's story Question 3: I think the idea of a tangible romance could be subjective and different in perception. There is romance and has always been, but it's just not in the forefront. The leads trust each other to the point of offering their lives to each other, understand each other without the actual need for words, and support each other whenever the most needed with all resources at hand and ofcourse they've been attracted to each other from their very first interactions. These are to me very serious feelings and the definition of romance considering the fact that the FL is a betrayed and traumatized woman ( not to mention still officially married) who may just not be able to handle more of it for the time being.
