On one hand she is a horrifying woman that fed her own child to another child for a ritual. On the other hand she is a pitiful woman who has suffered through so many things (being sold as tribute, her own clan falling apart, rape etc.). She was scared to see any sign of her own child showing on CG.
I do not know if this is based on history, but i guess these types of horrifying rituals existed in actual history a long time ago. Ancient tribal clans have had like the creepiest rituals that modern people would never understand how people in those era just came to believe in them.

Yes this master Liao Chi was the monk I was talking about. But it was never confirmed who exactly it was. I don’t think it’s the emperor bcs otherwise why would she try to deform CG’s toes (bcs then her son would have deformed toes as well ). So it’s most likely that monk i guess.

And honestly, why is Tencent picking up everything but this, i thought this novel was quiet popular in china.

I remember there was a monk that was being thought as her partner, but it was never really confirmed. Yes, as much as i hated her for abusing CG, i felt really bad too, because she as a woman really went through a lot that no one should. Yeah honestly when i read about the bone of impurity, it horrified me too. bcs they have fed their children to each other so many times in the past, this ritual of the barbarian clan has become so normal for them. It really is so creepy, and horrifying.

Well since they have accepted it anyway, i just hope they do it right.

Yeah, usually that is true but for A novel like TGCF with gods and all that mystical stuffs, really need a sufficient budget to show the maximum amount of the amazing things that this novel contains. If they half ass it with a low budget, it wouldn’t do the novel justice.

Yes, sorry it was his cousin. It’s been a few months since i read the novel but as i remember, the reason she deformed the toes was because the emperor (CG’s dad) also had a deformed toe, and because CG was combined with his cousin, it made his toes normal. Chang geng having a deformed toe was the proof that he had the blood of the emperor. CG’s aunt didn’t want his toes to be normal looking because that’s the proof that her son is also living inside CG and reminding her that she fed her own-son to CG. So she smashes his foot with a stone to deform it and thus making it as if her son is not inside CG.

Yeah honestly, as much as I’m looking forward to immortality, i want this dramas to get at least half the interest that Immortality gets. Bcs this novel is an absolute gem.

i don't know why they go back and forth so many times. just announce already which drama is going to air cuz I've been waiting for both SPL and immortality for so long.

yes that's exactly why. Both immortality and SPL have bigger budgets and the costumes look absolutely amazing. if Tencent had picked up this instead, i feel they would have done better and the drama would be high quality.

i don't think the cast is that bad honestly. especially the actor casted as Hua cheng seem so suitable for this role. for Xie Lian, i think some different hair styles and costumes would make it better. can't say anything about the acting as I have never seen either of their dramas but since they were casted for these roles, it's probably okay.
but I hope they really don't lower the quality of this. both 2Ha and SPL has amazing consumes so I kind of feel sad.
