As someone that read both 2HA and SPL and liked them both, i have to say, 2HA revolves more around the relationship between the two main characters, their misunderstandings, problems and how everything around them come to be as they are . if someone starts this novel, they should stick until Book 3 because book 3 is the best. this is where the good stuffs are revealed. 2HA is more of a novel with flawed characters and how they grow from it. also a novel I enjoyed reading but also made me feel very complicated.
SPL is more of a heavier plot based novel that revolves more around politics, war situations, but the romance is just so pure, wholesome and well developed I just loved this so much.
personally I enjoyed SPL better, both because I enjoy novels with an intricate and wide cast of characters more and also because of how satisfying the romance was without any problematic situation. I just loved CHANGGU - this pure adorable couple that deserves the whole world.
in the end it's preference again. people who like stories that focus more on the relationship aspect and flaws of characters seem to enjoy 2HA more. while people who like intricate plots, pure romance without angst, seem to enjoy SPL more.
As much as I like 2HA, i also feel a little sad that SPL is still not as popular as 2HA.

from What I remember, it was revealed that Chang Geng is the son of the Barbarian goddess, but Chang Geng and his brother were combined so I guess you can't be 100% sure to say his mother is the Barbarian goddess.
