it's literally happening in the new episodes tomorrow...
it is odd how some people continue to justify the pacing and dissing the few viewers commenting on it. Let's not be so dishonest guys, good dramas become bad dramas when momentum is lost.

Seeing Seo In Guk pull off Romance so so so well has brought me so much joy! It has been a decade since the last time, it is time for the age-old crush to return.

Its so weird that people are not liking the romcom era. I mean they do not what they will miss later on! This…
I agree , I would not call this drama romance a slow burn at all. I do however dislike the pacing in last 6 episodes.

I have seen enough dramas to know when scenes linger unnecessarily slightly longer, and when the momentum is getting lost. There's no problem with new character introductions and storylines, it's the lack of efficient usage of on-screen time that is the issue. It's okay if you don't share my opinion.

Okay they are dragging it now, I like the slow build up and all these new subplots with FL forming her own gang…

I have watched through episode 8, and while I like a lot of it, the FL is kind of grating on me. Does she ever…
Their mature era is even better so yes, keep watching!

They rely on their own market. International fans are a plus, not the target audience. So I don't think they will…
I think we are disagreeing on what cliffhanger means traditionally. Chinese dramas usually end with revelations, or an accident, or a confession, leaving reactions or consequences to continue fluidly into the next episode. Whereas, what I call bad cliff hangers is when the villian is about to tell something important, or lips are about to touch ( a la today's episode) , or the sword is about to fall... It leaves you with a sense of incompleteness which you will never find satisfaction from even in the next episode.

Classic C-drama style has softer endings with chapter like pacing. They tend to focus on character realisation, scene transitions, or a resolution. So I do whole heartedly diagree that chinese dramas usually have cliff hangers, they don't.

Maybe we are watching different dramas! Conversations continuing sure, conversations revealing secrets and then next episode sure, but I am yet to see a secret being on the edge of the lips and the episode ending 😂😂😂 like many many asian dramas do. Double panning reactions and echoing dialogues...

They have been focussing on everything but the cp .. There are scenes here and there but there is more focus on other characters which I don't mind but the pacing has been really slow. When everything else is great, the pacing really needs to be addressed.

I hate watching these in Netflix, doesn't feel right. Stretching schedule of the drama to cover the entire month is ridiculous. Chinese dramas drop all episodes withing 2 weeks , and I also have never experienced exasperating cliff hangers towards end of an episode like they did in this last episode...it is always if there's a kiss then kiss and then carry the kiss as the next episode starts, or if there's a killer shot, the shot is fired but nobody is left wondering if death is coming! For regular audience these are western tactics that even Korean dramas succumbed to and largely disliked by many viewers. Not having them like this is one of the many reasons at least I watch chinese dramas.

Right! Enough good things have been spoiled in the desire to be acknowledged globally, look at bts! It's not crazy to think it might happen to chinese dramas one day! In this case i wouldn't mind some insular self preservation kicking in.

In the beginning it often looks harmless, so I am extremely wary. I will not be able bear having another one of my favourite things going down the drain because of this.

The more Chinese dramas I am seeing on Netflix the more it feels like they DO have a target international audience and adapting unfortunately.

At this point I'm of a very strong opinion that C -dramas should not fall into the trap of American drama style/ format of dropping one episode here and another episode there and dragging the story, like how they have terribly influenced korean drama industry after netflix started putting its money in. Please don't fall into that pit dear Chinese drama lords!!!
