Mr. Plankton Review - ZyKuu

"Two drifters embark on their final trip together" - The story is very chaotic but entertaining, and there are many valuable life lessons taught throughout the show. The cast was sweet and sour for me. I am a huge fan on the main lead Hae-jo, I thought he played his role well and was the most excellent amongst the cast. The female lead Jae-mi was wonderful as well and she really displayed her acting ability. Their romantic chemistry was great. Other roles that I enjoyed were Bong-suk and KKari. I found them to be great side characters that added to every moment and made the show more memorable. The OST was decent and I was pleased by the shows aesthetic. This drama is somewhat random, but everything ties together neatly. The show is very eventful, and the lessons taught within are golden.

Soulmate Review - ZyKuu

"The story of two soulmates" - This movie takes you along the timeline from when the two main leads Ko Ha-eun and Ahn Mi-so first met till the very end. The story did get confusing at some points, and you will be questioning things afterwards, but I believe that the premise of the film was delivered clearly. Both Ha-eun and Mi-so were amazing as you could feel the emotion and pain these characters were experiencing through the screen. Ham Jin-woo was a key character in this film and he was superb at his role. Jin-woo's presence does cause a rift in the relationship between Ha-eun and Mi-so which leads to the story to become more interesting. I loved the relationship between Ha-eun and Mi-so as they displayed what true friendship means. The character development in this film is beautiful and I loved the concept of death and life shown through both characters. The OST was ineffective as I did not acknowledge it at all, and the colours in this film were more gloomy and dark which fit the sorrow theme. This movie is a must watch for an adult audience, as I think it will resonate with them on a deeper level.

Hear Me: Our Summer Review - ZyKuu

"Actions speak louder than words" - The story was very simple and easy to follow. There was a gentle atmosphere this movie laid out that allows the viewer to be calm in enjoyment. Two nitpicks I have pertain to the dynamic of both main leads Yong-jun and Yeo-reum. I feel as if their relationship did not develop naturally or at a reasonable pace. Also, I believe that there was bit of romance lacking between them. The cast was very small in this project. Yeon-jun's parents were fabulous as they nailed their roles as expected. The secondary couple I wish had more interactions and screen time. Ga-eul was a character I wish we got to spend more time with as I found her story interesting. The background OST was nice and helped set the mood when needed. This film delivers important messages about family and life that many people can relate to. It also peaked my interest towards learning ASL as one day there may be a time it will come in handy, along with making the people who communicate using this language feel more comfortable. In conclusion, I would only recommend this film if you have some free time to spare!

Love Next Door Review - ZyKuu

"Two childhood lovers" - The story was very interesting and I felt as if there were no major errors in the writing besides a couple nitpicks. This drama was very realistic in its approach on daily struggles and family issues that commonly occur, I admire the show for highlighting such situations. They really nailed the slice of life aspect. I believe that the entire cast was top tier. I loved both main leads Seung-hyo and Seok-ryu and I found that they were compatible in every way. Their chemistry was perfect no matter the type of relationship they had, and although their romance is a slowburn, it is most definitely worth the wait. The second couple in lead Mo-eum and Dan-ho had a very unique and exciting journey together. The parents of Seung-hyo, Seok-ryu, and Mo-eum were amazing and I loved how each household had a different type of parenting. The rest of the cast like Yeon-du, Dong-jin, Myeong-u, etc. aced their roles! I adored the flashback scenes between Seok-ryu and Seung-hyo because it only proves that soulmates exist. The OST was great, and I loved the colours and tone of the show. The show is practically perfect and I am a bit upset I finish it.

A Time Called You Review - ZyKuu

"Will you travel across time for your soulmate" - This story is very complex and requires the viewer to pay close attention. The plot was very thought provoking because as the story developed with each episode, I was wondering and hypothesising a bunch of theories on how this show can conclude which was enjoyable in hindsight. The cast was spectacular with the main lead Han Jun-hee / Kwon Min-ju perfecting her role. Her ability to display two different characters and possess two different personas within the same timeline was a spectacle to watch. The two main male leads being Koo Yeon-jun / Nam Si-heon and Jung In-gyu were also tremendous in their own regard.
The support cast was very consistent throughout the whole series, and since individually they did not have as much screen time, they were great complimentary pieces in each episode that they did appear in. My personal favourites from the support cast were Oh Chan-hui / Oh Chan-yeong and Kwon Do-hun. The OST was great throughout the entire series, they introduced an old classical to our time and managed to compose other songs that fit the theme of the drama. This drama was mostly a mystery drama that was very engaging with a hint of romance, and I am for certain that this will be recognized as a classic time-travel drama.

When Life Gives You Tangerines Review - ZyKuu

"A young couple from an island experience the fruits of life side by side" - The story was very realistic as we witness the main couple experience life across many decades. I found the plot to be very lengthy and the only issue with me was the pacing, but all together it was a beautiful story of life that was told. This show does a amazing job at portraying the inconsistencies of life. Oh Ae-sun (Young) / Yang Geum-myeong is an incredibly talented actress. She was able to perform both roles excellently.
Yang Gwan-sik (Young) was an amazing actor himself, he demonstrated what it truly meant to be a father and husband. Hopefully many people look up to his character and draw inspiration from him. Oh Ae-sun (Old) and Yang Gwan-sik (Old) were also terrific in portraying their roles. Both Park Chung-seop & Park Yeong-beom did well in their reduced roles during the screen time they had as well. The OST was decent, it fit in with the theme of the show but nothing in particular stood out for me. I would say that this show is more catered towards an older audience as I feel it would be more relatable to those who have been battle tested through life already. All in all, this show was very impactful and does a tremendous job at telling the story of life!

Lovely Runner Review - ZyKuu

"A relationship that defies time" - Masterpiece. Story is excellent and there is a unique display in regards to the concept of time travelling. Whether it was a heartwarming or saddening moment, I shed a couple tears as this series drew out a variety of emotions from within. Im Sol and Sun-jae perfectly played their roles, I loved the relationship and chemistry both leads had. The supporting cast was phenomenal especially Tae-sung and In-hyuk. The soundtrack is incredible. The romance and comedy in this series was nothing short of perfection. Not only did this work of art entertain me, but it gave me hope, and I am genuinely sad that it is over :(

Love Untangled Review - ZyKuu

"His heart strings were more tangled than her hair" - This story was very innocent and cute. The film follows the main lead Park Se-ri is a determined teenager on a mission to untangle her natural curly hair. With hopes of having straight hair she aims to impress her crush Kim-hyun. The other main lead is Han Yun-seok whom is a transfer student. Both main leads did well in their role and excelled during the emotional moments. They also had good chemistry with one another. Se-ri is a person who trusts her gut feeling and is very attentive. She displayed her acting range yet again as she continues to impress me. Yun-seok was a very quiet but interesting character whom spoke a lot through his actions. Kim-hyun was a cool character with minimal screen time, and amongst Se-ri's friend group, Sung-rae is who stood out the most as he was the comedic focal point throughout. The OST matched the theme and setting of the film to a tee. I loved the colours of the film, it was very vibrant and pleasing to watch. Although the majority of the film follows Se-ri on her quest for love, there was a segment revolving around domestic violence that I wish topic was explored more. To me that would have added more depth and value to the film's overall plot. In conclusion, this film is great and I would definitely recommend it to all audiences.

No Gain. No Love Review - ZyKuu

"A fake marriage that benefits both parties" - The story was unique with a bunch of twists and turns that were unexpected. There were moments where I was left confused as some parts of the plot felt forced but overall it was an interesting route taken. One thing I noticed was the amount of sexual talk and innuendo throughout. I appreciated the show for stepping out of the typical comfort zone to talk about such topics whether it was for entertainment purposes or whatnot. The cast was amazing, and upon research I was actually mind blown to discover that the main lead Hae-young is 40 years old in real life. She is very pretty and looks very youthful in the show. Her acting is superb and I can tell she is a true veteran of the industry. I did enjoy the other cast members such as Ji-uk and Gyu-Hyun as they were great in their respective roles and I found them as key components for the comedy aspects. Ja-yeon was a character that I think did spectacular, and her romantic journey in the show was a doozy to watch. The OST is superb, but surprisingly I only began to appreciate it after the series was over as I barely noticed it during the show, which is odd for me. Anywho, this show does not scream out romcom, although it does do enough to be classified as one whilst being entertaining. Therefore you must check it out!

20th Century Girl Review - ZyKuu

"A love triangle that cuts deep into the heart" - The story is very innocent and delivers a melodrama genre. The two main leads Bo-ra and Woon-ho were a perfect pairing and their chemistry was incredible. There were a couple intense scenes between Bo-ra and Woon-ho that lead to me being very emotional. One scene in particular was so saddening that I began crying, and this was due to the reason that every single aspect of this scene was perfectly orchestrated. In addition, the performances by both actors during these climatic moments were heartfelt and as a viewer made you feel empathetic towards them. The choice of OST was precise as I felt that the music played behind each scene heavily emphasized the magnitude of each moment, especially during the most saddening scenes. This phenomenal film is the definition of K-trauma and it will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Brewing Love Review - ZyKuu

"Alcohol is the catalyst to love" - The story is very unique and was a breath of fresh air for me as a viewer. It introduced me to the craftsmanship of beer making which I found very neat. Chae Yong-ju and Yoon Min-ju are the main leads of the drama and I found them to be terrific in their roles. Yong-ju did a great job but I enjoyed Min-ju's performance even more. He excelled at portraying his role of an empath. The main romance between Yong-ju and Min-ju was very thoughtful, caring and supportive which I admired. Oh Chan-hwi and Bang Ah-reum were the second main leads, and their romantic relationship was my favourite as they were innocent and gentle towards one another. I have a tiny crush on Ah-reum as I found her visuals to be stunning, I found the side characters to do well in their part but the one that stood out the most to me was Yeom Jang-goon. Jang-goon is a compelling character because he portrays himself as a villain, but deep down he is a hardworking man allowed his greed and jealousy to overtake his ethics and morals. The OST is great and I always found each soundtrack growing on me through each listen. Overall this was a very entertaining drama and it was easy to binge. I highly recommend everyone to check this one out!

See You in My 19th Life Review - ZyKuu

"All of life is beautiful yet tragic" - The story was very intriguing and unique in terms of how the concept of time was incorporated. I experienced the genre of time travel through a different lense and it was entertaining. I loved how when we visited the past it included all types of cultures and generations. The plot was interesting during the first half but started to lose me in the second half. The main lead Ban Ji-eum is a phenomenal actress. The way she portrayed her emotions was captivating. The male lead Mun Seo-ha was amazing in his own regard. The secondary leads Yoon Cho-won and Ha Do-yun were amazing as well and I enjoyed watching them. The romance was very unique, we had different dynamics in each relationship. The main relationship between Ji-eum and Seo-ha was very passionate, and even though spring bloomed late between Cho-won and Do-yun I was happy for them as I found them to be very passive but caring towards one another. The OST was great and I found that the soundtrack had a piece to match each mood. I'd honestly recommend this show to anyone as it was an easy watch and it feels like a classic that will never be forgotten!

Ditto Review - ZyKuu

"Two students advise each other through a radio" - The story in this film was very stale, had no sense of meaningful direction, and the plot twist was predictable. The concept of the radio being the means of communication across timelines was interesting but the stories plot failed to keep me interested. The main lead Kim Yong is a mechanical engineering student who had no interest in his field. He falls in love with a freshman who enrolled in the same program. The two other leads were Seo Han-sol and Kim Mu-nee. Both Han-sol and Mu-nee had key roles in this film and they sufficed with their performance. Han-sol is a bright young girl with a dream she is determined to achieve. Mu-nee is a sociology student who needs to interview somebody for her school presentation and she comes across Kim Yong via the radio. I felt as if Kim Yong and Han-sol lacked chemistry when they were together and in general there were not any strong connections in this movie. The OST was pretty much unnoticeable as I do not recall anything ear catching except in the end credits. Overall this movie was pretty underwhelming for me, but I am sure that there is an audience whom would thoroughly enjoy it!

Love Reset Review - ZyKuu

"Amnesia can hurt the brain, but not the heart" - The story is very playful and comedic. A car accident resets the memories of both our main leads Hong Na-ra and Noh Jung-yeol whom were planning on divorcing each other. This leads to them spending time together from a different perspective compared to what they were used to prior. Na-ra and Jung-yeol are opposites that attracted. Hong Na-ra is a movie producer who lives dirty and wants to stay indoors, meanwhile Noh Jung-yeol is a lawyer who wants lives clean and wants to be outdoors. Their dynamic is very funny and they have good chemistry. Jung-yeol's acting was the highlight of the film for me. His facial expressions and goofy nature was a spectacle to watch. The OST from what I recall was just background music used to to enhance specific moments, there wasn't really any songs that I remember hearing apart from what Na-ra's sister was singing. Overall this movie is entertaining, and I would recommend it to anybody who's interested in watching a laid back romantic comedy.

Head over Heels Review - ZyKuu

"A shaman must protect her cursed lover" - The story was chaotic in the sense that there was no true direction. The first half of the plot was easier to comprehend whereas the second half was difficult to follow and make sense of. There were plot holes that appeared in the backend of the show and I would have to blame the pacing for these flaws. The supernatural trope was interesting to come across and I am intrigued to look further into this genre. The main leads Park Seong-a and Bae Gyeon-u were both amazing in portraying their roles and the chemistry between the two was great. Bong-su was a character that was well executed by both main leads, his personality was one of the most notable ones. Pyo Ji-ho is an amazing actor and nailed his role. Ji-ho's loyalty and care for Seong-a was genuine and he is an amazing person to have by your side. General Dongcheon and Yeomhwa were key pieces to the plot although they did not entertain me to the extent that I expected given the importance of their roles. The side cast wasn't anything special either but they did good enough to get by. The OST is catchy and flows well with the show's atmosphere. All in all, this show was light hearted but confusing at times. If you got time to spare I'd say give it a shot, otherwise you aren't missing out on much.
