Hi,

Thanks for the request and nice to meet you.
I see you're watching Running Man. I seriously love HaHa and Lee Kwang Soo!

Hi Friend!

How is the festival month coming along? Productive? ;)

I've been keeping track of your progress on Ugly Alert through the feeds. Are you speedwatching the episodes or is it just that good? A couple of people are watching it and it makes me curious since the drama itself doesn't look too appealing to me.

Hi,

Just dropping by to see what you're up to. Did you get a chance to watch some movies or is life keeping you busy? I'm watching a sweet love story by Kitagawa Eriko (Orange Days etc) called Saigo no Koi plus I'm watching some movies. I'm into mystery or crime movies these last weeks. I really enjoyed Rainbow Eyes and to a lesser extent Montage. Anyway I'll be looking for some more suspenseful movies. :)

Right now I'm watching Saigo no Koi. It's a romance drama by Kitagawa Eriko not your thing. :P It's not a sensational story but I really love Kitagawa Eriko's drama's, Orange Days, Sunao ni Narenakute, Tatta Hitotsu no Koi and Aishiteiru to Ittekure to name a few are all written by her. I'm a fan.
Plus I'm watching movies, crime/action/mystery themes to get my shot of adrenaline. LOL Did you watch anything interesting lately?

Yes I agree the "love" angle wasn't necessary at all in Maou.
I loved Ice World as well but I also loved Million Stars but I certainly understand why you didn't. Have you finished A Sleeping Forest? I agree on the overall feeling of the drama's you mentioned. I exactly that atmosphere in drama's but it's hard to find drama's like that. As far as Piece goes I mostly loved the feeling of the drama it's certainly not perfect but it drew me in completely.

I love history orientated drama's and movies and although I do enjoy a good wuxia or action themed production I enjoy the human side of the story the best so for me the trilogy was a great find.

Well I think there's a lot of variations in mystery is not always the main focus in drama's. But going through my list here's a few I'd certainly count in the category. Ice World, Byakuyako, One Million Stars Falling from The Sky, A Sleepless Forest and Guilty. Plus I think Piece fits in the category. Ryusei no Kizuna to some extent, Rondo, Bara no nai Hanay and also MARS if you take the suspense into account. Maybe even Long Love Letter but that certainly a different kind of mystery. LOL I think the best were Ice World, A Million Stars, Mars but frankly I liked them all a lot. Plus MARS is certainly focused on the romance element IMHO.

I saw you watched The Hidden Blade! For me that one was the best of the three. I really appreciate the mood and the transition between the Edo and Meiji Restoration period shown. And you started A Sleeping Forrest, have fun!

I did manage to finish Maou and I loved the last 2 eps but somehow I wasn't that interested in the girl. For me it also was unnecessary that she had the power to see tings, why did they even add that in the drama I wonder. I rated it an 8 because I loved how the revenge was plotted and how everything played out. I loved how they didn't spare anyone. But for me it was too focused only on revenge to make it a mixed themed drama.

I read your article, great!
I loved how gave us a behind the screen look in some of those drama's. You see I love watching drama's but I'm not someone who follow the news on the Korean stars. I hope there's more where that came from. ;)

A shame you didn't like Guilty I really enjoyed it's revenege plot and innocent romance. But I do know how someone can annoy you so much it ruins the drama.

Is the Grand Tribe really focused on the business aspect or is it also about the human relations? You see I'm watching Maou at the moment and I don't know what to watch next yet but I'd like it to be a little lighter and I also still have Hanzawa in my head.

I agree on Guilty's ending. This is what I call a fitting ending. I don't care that much about happy endings as long as it fits the drama.
If I was more focused on the revenge part in this drama the pet salon lady ending might have bothered me more but since I loved it overall I'm overlooking it. :P I really love the mystery and tension or suspense which comes with revenge drama's but revenge alone is sometimes not enough for me. I like a dangerous love line here or there. That's actually also the answer to the question why I put Maou on hold months back. I wasn't drawn into it right away and wasn't expecting a romance so at that time I switched over to another drama. I believe when I continue watching a drama when I'm actually not in the mood for the genre/theme I might end up doing the drama not enough justice. So I park it until it fits my mood. I am watching now and am enjoying it!

I finished it and I loved it!
Aside from the revenge theme I loved the romance in it and I thought the ending was very fitting.
I did however blink a couple of times when they threw in the twist in the last half hour. I was like WTF why? I guess they made the dog salon lady confess to underline the uselessness of revenge since it meant Meiko had one more person to blame and this time it was one of the few persons she had grown attached to.
But frankly it was rather abrupt and I thought it was unnecessary.
Anyway that's just a pet peeve I really enjoyed watching it all the way through. I'm still on a high from this drama so for now I rated it a 9. :P

So now I'm inspired to pick up Maou which was on my hold list. Thanks again for the rec. ;)

I am at times. I have weeks I don't watch and weeks I devour drama's and movies.
I see you just started. ;) Liking it so far I hope? How did you discover your first drama?

I don't see any on your list but are you also interested in in Asian film or just sticking to drama for now

Yep I'm a fast watcher if the drama agrees with me and I have some downtime from work.

But Guilty, I'm loving it! I love the overall vibe. There's darkness but not so much to make you depressed, there's some romance but not so much to get in the way, there's some mystery but not so much to make you confused. LOl Anyway you get my drift it's a lovely mix. Only thing that's a bit awkward at times IMHO is Tamaki Hiroshi's acting which is unexpected. On the other hand I love Kanno Miho's acting.
I'm dreading the second half though. I mean I'm really enjoying it now so they can only ruin it now with strange plot twists etc. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Review Jun & Ai
"Everyone became miserable... or sick... or dead..." LOL somehow this might be a recommendation for melodrama or tragedy lovers.

Hehe yes thank you for the rec. If you have more you know where to find me. ;)
It's rare to find a romance story which doesn't go overboard on the needless drama and this was certainly a less frustrating watch then most. ;)
I actually like that "cheap" old vibe. LOL

I'm watching Guilty Akuma to Keiyakushita Onna next. Also a recommendation by a friend. It's suspense / revenge with some romance I've been told. It has Tamaki Hiroshi as the male lead, I saw Love Shuffle was one of your favorites. Have you seen it?

I see you're watching several atm. I'm curious how you'll like The Grand Tribe. It's been on my ptw for a while.

I felt Suga really didn't express himself well. I couldn't feel their chemistry and wasn't convinced of his love for her! If the drama was a mixed theme then I wouldn't mind but this was obviously a full-out romance drama so it bugged me quite a bit. Plus I think it was ep 6 or 7 when the whole Washington thing came in play. Agreed it wasn't in the final episode but geez they could have solved everything by communicating. LOL I understand how throwing that element in was supposed to create some angst. However since I wasn't convinced of their deep love yet and found it silly that they didn't communicate I just lost the emotional connection to the storyline.

So in the end I did really enjoy watching it but it had a couple of ingredients rubbed me the wrong way. For now I gave it a 7 since I did enjoy it like I said and I think it will be difficult to find a drama like it.
