Yeah are pacing is off by just a bit. I either don't watch 2 weeks or I'm glued to my tv screen. But I'll try to slow down a bit. There are a few movies I want to watch anyway.

And yes I can see how the theme of the film would be a bit misplaced in between the door-to-door magazines next to grocery advertisements. Then again it could be a creepy unique selling point for the neighborhood housewife's and you would have found a gap in the market. This might be just my distasteful and probably inappropriate sense of humor though. LOL

Anyway seems to me that shooting the film will be the relatively "easy" part compared to realizing the funding. At least actually shooting it is more in your sphere of influence. Old geezer like that as you so eloquently put it usually don't trust your confidence alone but get persuaded by numbers on paper. At least that's my experience talking.

Regarding your funding. It must be frustrating not getting the funding. Have you only tried door to door or do you also use other channels like web based marketing, local door to door magazines etc to get funding?
I do hope you get to convince your investor! It must be very rewarding though once you finally have your finished film knowing you put blood, sweat and tears in it from start to finish.

I'm downloading Empire of Gold as we speak maybe we can watch together if I can get my pace to match yours. LOL For now with the thought of cleaning my PTW list in mind I started Kingyo Club. 10 Eps, all 19 mins long. NOt your thing though, a drama about bullying at a high school with a dash of innocent romance I think. I'm 3 eps in now and it's a relaxing watch.

Yeah I simply have to cut off all my distractions and immerse myself in the job that needs to be done to get a satisfying finished result. It's how I like to do things, be it drama or work. And I'm sorry to say I haven't found a position yet in which I can earn my money by watching movies and drama's. :P

Graphic designer oh I wish it was that visually creative.
No I recently switched jobs in the same organization. I used to be a project manager of operational side of a telecommunication company. But now I'm working as a market planner. Filing reports on marketing strategies for either company wide products or as small as how to sell a training to clients. It's still in the same company but we also sell ideas and courses to other companies. I'm glad with the change in jobs though I enjoy research and developing more then managing a department.

For Sunao ni Narenakute it has a happy ending but again with some twists and turns at the end which weren't necessary for me but are oh so popular all through drama land.
I'd say overall it's a pleasant watch if you like the characters. Which I did since Eita is one of my favorite actors. If you can't relate to the characters then you won't like this one. Focus isn't on the romance but on the group of friends and their relationship with each other.

Now I'm in the mood to watch something sappy or sweet. Not per se something artistically good or something with a heavy theme but something to entertain me after these 2 weeks of using my brain too much. I've got a few hours to kill so I'm going to dig through some unwatched drama's.

What's been keeping you busy?

LOL I'm sorry!

I'm not very polite, am I! Just running off during a conversation like that. You see I'm swamped in work plus I'm very receptacle to addictions which is not a very good combo. So since I was facing some serious -they will cut off my head if I don't make it- deadlines I avoided everything drama and Asia related. :P I get caught up otherwise. (Has no selfcontrol)
But good news is I have just sed some final drafts so I'm expecting feedback today, then tomorrow maybe some final touches and than I'm free to slack off for a few weeks again. The bad thng about my job ar these busy weeks, but the good things are the less busy weeks so I wouldn't want it any different. But next time I'll be sure to let you know!!

And then there's Sunao ni Narenakute which is also a good watch but a bit lacking in comparison to the others in terms of plotline. It's a very addictive watch though and closer to Orange Days in terms of watching a group of friends. I couldn't stand Kim Jae Joong acting. LOL

The bottom line for me is though I definitely liked all those Eriko drama's so I think it's good thing you decided to start watching them and form your opinion. I'd like to discuss them :D

I rated Beautiful Life a 9. I loved watching it but the ending again is a shame. I would compare the overall feel with pride I guess and it's again Japan doing romance in the right way in my opinion. Definitely worth a watch. An I wonder what your opinion will be.

Love Letter? Do you mean Love Story or Long Vacation or the movie Love Letter? Haven't watched Love Story yet but did watch Long Vacation. Long Vacation is a more "fun" watch and less heavy. I f you know what I mean. I tend to like heavy emotion stuff better though. Still a good watch. Also the feeling is mature so good things in this drama. But for me I felt less connected to the characters and was less emotionally invested then other Eriko drama's.

"if things are too open then I don't feel like I have enough information to determine their common fate."

I agree plus I'm a pessimist in this case, assuming if they leave the ending open instead of a nice, neat happy ending I'll assume in my heart it didn't end well. I mean why wouldn't they show it if it's happy. :P I often try to convince myself of the opposite but it's not what I actually believe in my heart. The thing is though that after a while the endings seem to fade more for me and the overall journey in the drama lingers in my memory. For me the rating isn't effected as much.. But for his one it would be a 10 if they wrapped it up nicely.

And you're right older drama's often deal with more mature theme's and are less "prudish" in my experience. Plus I love the "real" feeling they give.

Actually I'm never far away from MDL. It's just sometimes I get caught up in everyday live I don't take the time to sit down and actively participate. :)

Ah I have Woman on my ptw list as well! I'm not a big fan of Oguri Shun, but I love Mitsushima Hikari!. I think she's one of the best Japanese actresses. Plus it seems to me it will be another great Japanese story.

Hope you liked your movie night yesterday. :) I think I'll watch Love and Honor today. :)

You know Hearty Paws seems to me to be a movie almost everyone would find heartwarming but I feel reluctant to watch it. It's just too much cuteness if you know what I mean. LOL

I just read your review on Aishiteiru! You nailed it! I wasn´t as disappointed with the final episodes as you where. I have a feeling I place less importance on the endings when the overall ride or feeling was great. I know they can ruin a drama for you. The funny thing is I didn´t even remember the ending that accurate but just the overall feeling. I remember rewatching this one up to ep 7 or 8 a while back, just remembered the apple scene now.
If you like the writing of Eriko Kitagawa you should try One Million Stars or Tatta Hitotsu no Koi. I loved both drama´s. Tatta however is about young love and I know you are not that fond of the theme. I think it´s young love done well though. For One Million stars I really don´t know what your opinion will be. There are lovers and haters. I loved the atmosphere, the acting (KimuTaku!). I'm dreading your opinion about the ending though. LOL

Hehe I love the welcome back :D

And yeah I will watch Love and Honor soon. I´ve been watching too much Korean stuff lately. Of course not bad but the difference between Japanese and Korean cinema keeps me longing for whichever country I´m not watching. Ah got to love the differences.

Don't have a plan though as to which drama to watch next.

Oh and I almost forgot to mention Ice World's epic theme song by Kyosuke Himuro. Maybe not so important for some but I can't mention Ice World without pointing it out. :P Simply loved it!

Hi!

Back behind my PC again. I didn't do much drama watching this last week. Got distracted again. ;) But I'm still planning to finish my Saeguk trilogy by finishing Ja Myung Go this week. Aside from watching Ja Myung Go I've been watching a movie here and there in between rl distractions and rewatching one of my favorite anime's. Like you said before it's easier to watch a movie when you're busy. Watched some nice ones but none that stand out.

I see you finished Ice World. And yes I loved it. For me it pulled me out of a drama slump and I felt at the time that I really discovered a hidden gem. You know how euphoria can maybe cloud your vision a bit when rating a drama. But then again I'm an emotional rater so I stand by my rating for now. ;)

So how have you been? What have you been watching or what is on your priority list to watch for now?

Hi friend!

Back behind my PC again! Yeah Saeguks and happy usually don't mix, right now I'm watching Ja Myung Go and it definitely has a different feel to it then other drama's but ot the happy kind. LOL Almost every character is messed up in some way. But yeah the Yamada Yoiji's films are indeed great. I've watched The Twilight Samurai and The Hidden Blade so far. I especially loved The Hidden blade. But I really appreciate the mood in both movies and the transition between the Edo and Meiji Restoration period depicted in the movies.

Did you try City Hall or Time Between..? I saw in the feeds that you watched Aishiteiru to Ittekure. One of my earlier drama's I watched. I loved it at the time.

Right now I'm being distracted by friends and some reading. I think I'll finish Ja Myung soon and watch some movies but I don't know what I'll do next.

Yeah I love JKH as well. Love his acting and especially his voice! Right now however I'm out of the drama watching flow for the moment so haven't finished Ja Myung Go yet. A week ago I actually was determent to go through Saeguks at lightning speed. But I got distracted which happens often. :P
I'm watching some movies here and there now. Their are easier to watch in between real-life activities. :) I always feel the need to marathon drama's.

....So I rather watch melo/romance. You said you don't like romance in crime themed drama's but for me it'always a plus at least in drama's. :P Doesn't have to be some happy couple romance but at some tension or people with feelings for eachother. Of course doesn't make a drama less good. It's just a personal preference. ;)

I'm watching Ja Myung Go atm also starring Jung Kyung Ho. It's a joy to see him in another drama.

Hi!
As far as giving IHYV another chance I don't see it happening in the near future. But the thing is I've never dropped a drama and I refuse the give the questionable honor to this one. LOL So for now it's on hold.

My preferred genre changes a lot. I get these periods when I'm in the mood for a certain genre. Crime, mystery, historical all mixed with romance are my favorite genre's I think. What I don't like is strictly humor. Mixed with romance I'll give it a chance but I don't think rom/com will end up high on my favorite list. I love a good romance drama as well but I hardly ever find great ones. Usually it's rom/com and since I'm picky about the humor in drama's it tends to let me down.

Ah you basically described my feelings about smile you as well. But I was really loving the drama after the first few episodes. I liked the couple, their sweet romance and I watched it at he right time. What disappointed me was exactly like you said the last part. It felt like a different story and I was just watching it to finish. Felt it was a shame for the overall drama.

So what's next on your drama-curriculum?

Hi!!

That's oke I'm not quick with the replies these days myself. ;) I'm in the middle of my vacation and I have loads of time but somehow I just can't be bothered to write a lot. Maybe it reminds me too much of work. LOL

Saeguk which has a happy ending and nice romance I haven't come across yet. With emphasis on the "happy" ending.:P Unless you want some fusion drama like Queen In Hyun's Man. Which was kinda oke but not what you and I mean when we think of Saeguk I think. When I watch the historical drama's I just go in watching with a whole different mindset. I expect heartbreak, suffering, betrayal with great characters and all this wrapped up in an epic story. Plus for me a good ending is not always a happy one. I love to be wrapped up in the melancholy of a good tragic story as long as it's epic and not too overdone.
