Oh I do read the synopsis and some reviews but that's as far as I'll go. I'll even try to restrain from reading too much comments about the drama since some contain spoilers or I get prejudiced about characters or the overall drama. I like to find out for myself. :)

Hmm I actually don't know if there's a genre or theme I avoid. If there's one it would actually be comedy. I don't enjoy watching something strictly comedy. If it's done well with any other genre I might give it a try rom/com, action/com, horror/com :P. I however is hardly ever the comedy part which attracts me or keeps my interest. It's strange actually since in real life I find humor on of the most attractive and best qualities in the people around me.

Same here, same here!! LOL Although I don't get hyped up a lot I''ll watch almost any drama and find something I like in it. I endured up to ep 6 but by then I was just amazed how different my opinion was compared to almost everyone. So It's on hold for now. Haven dropped a drama yet. :P

Do you have a favorite genre? I see you're dl-ing Orange Days I LOVED that drama, one of my all time favorites. Plus I'm a huge fan of Tsumabuki Satoshi. In my totally not biased opinion he's one of the best actors on this planet. :P Liked Cruel CIty which you're watching now a lot as well. :)

So finished Rondo a couple of days ago. It's a good entertaining watch with a nice ending. I think you would like it but I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. It is either too short to develop the characters really well, or it was the lacking subs or the story with some (minor) holes. I had high expectations. Anyway entertaining but in the semi-same genre I liked Cruel City and Time Between Dog and Wolf much better simply because I was emotionally involved.

Right now I'm on a Saeguk/list clearing mission plus I'm on a break with family and bf out of town so I'm now dedicated to my mission these 2 weeks of leave that I have left.

Hi, I had to send you a request when I read in your profile you dropped I Hear Your Voice. I've been agonizing of the fact that I'm not able to finish it. I'm not a picky watched at all! The world loves it but for me it's one cliche after another, little chemistry and annoying characters. Been scratching my head thinking why this would be the best rated drama on MDL.
Anyhow, Hi nice to meet you, glad I found you. ;)

Yes 81 eps a little over an hour long. I have to say it took me about 2 years to finish it. :P I put it on hold 2 times. Not because it was boring but I got invested the storyline which didn't go the way I thought it would go which is a good thing but it got me upset at the time. LOL I like to know as little as possible about the main plot before I go in so I can be surprised. It worked on Jumong hehe.

Already finished it now though. I'm going at full speed with my drama watching atm. I've never spend so much time per day watching drama's. BF is away for work almost 2 months. Parents took off yesterday for a 2 week break. I have 2 weeks leave and am a little depressed with work and family related stuff recently so I figured I would indulge myself for a couple of weeks and go on drama watching sprees just because I can! Only distraction is walking the dog and the occasional friend. :P

Le Jun Kai, my finger was hovering of the "add" link. LOL
Sounds different and interesting but right now I'm trying to reduce my lists.
I picked up Jumong which I had on hold for more then a year I think. I love Saeguk drama's when I'm in the mood. It's an epic tale which I also love the only think that puts me off if one of the female leads which is why I put it on hold after 60+ eps a while back. But for now I think it's historical and epic drama time again for me. So for the upcoming period I think I'll hear my fair share of "jeon-ha's"and "pye-ha's". LOL

Hi,

So here's the verdict :P
For me overall Rondo was a really enjoyable watch. But I have to say I'm partial to the genre and Japanese drama's. The acting was good. Down side was that it didn't get me emotionally invested as much as I like. I don't know if it was the subs or the fact that in a short drama the dept of the characters wasn't drawn out as much. This meant that I found some emotions or decisions not so logical. Not as much that it irritated me though. I'd say watch it if you feel like a fast paced Japanese action/mystery with some romance and don't ove rthink too much. ;)

I know I said I would start Tonbi after but in my quest to clean my lists ptw/hold I got sidetracked again. LOL I picked up Jumong again and this flared up my Saeguk fever. Right now I plan on finishing that one following Kingdom of the Winds.

I used to stream a lot and download what I couldn't find. I also use AsiaTorrents or D-Addicts. I started downloading to share with my BF or give friends a good movie or drama. (everything to get them addicted too :P) If I really like a movie I will buy it as well. But now since I have my computer attached to a 42 inch screen, I tend to look for higher quality downloads altogether. Plus I like watching a movie or episode in one go instead of being disturbed by ads etc.

I tried to find other subs but alas, no such luck. Streaming subs are the same so I decided to watch it even with the strange subs. It's not like I can't follow the story, but it is a downside. I think better subs won't be coming out soon for a relatively old drama such as Rondo. For new productions I also tend to wait but I gave up hope for Rondo.
I will let you know what the final verdict is. :)

Hehe I just left a comment on Winnie's profile about that, read it :)

I think it's definitely worth a watch but there are some small obstacles like the subtitles which makes the motivation for me not always too clear. Right now it's keeping me highly entertained but less invested then I would like because of this. I think it's gonna be high in the ratting though since they manage to surprise me, the acting is good, it's fast and I'm biased to the genre. :P
I think you would like it if you can overlook some small things and don't expect utter perfection. I keep comparing the romance in drama's with Lovers and it never works. So don't look for it here either. ;)

Yup I agree, although I'm still confused about I Hear Your Voice. I didn't get into that one and it's been out a while now reviews are still raving. Usually I can find some common ground. Oh well I guess I'll have to live with that.

Rondo is a great watch Just up my alley. Crime, a beginning love, suspense. I have to say I had high expectation so I'm a little critical about some small points. Some actions don't make too much sense to me, but I have to say the subtitles are horrible so I'm thinking I'm missing something because of the bad translation. And I wish they would go deeper into the development of some relationships or express them deeper. But I guess this the result of a 11 ep drama were everything happens fast! That being said it's just my pickyness it's still a great entertaining watch. Now in ep 6 I though I knew where they were going but they turned it all around again.

You're right about AAMR. She's more invested in her career and family in the beginning but I liked seeing how he with his love turned her around. Their chemistry is good though and their skinship not childish and awkward.

ToH definitely didn't have much balance. If you're ever in the mood for a good cry and some frustration it's a must watch though. :P Padam, Padam is still on my list but I can't seem to get around to it.

We grow up here with English all around us and since not many people speak Dutch we better adjust ourselves to people around the world in order to communicate. LOL Still it's hard to express yourself exactly the way you want to if it's not your native tongue. And you're right with only Korean, Mandarin and Japanese on my screen I don't get as much practice as I used to. But then again the subs are English. Not always the best though esp. Rondo which I'watching now!

I finished Tree of Heaven last night and although I can see why people like it, I wouldn't recommend it to you since I think I know a bit what you like. (I could be terribly wrong about this drama though :P). In the end it left me irritated with decisions characters had made. I feel all the sadness and unnecessary self sacrificing was just nerve wracking to watch and didn't leave me with a good feeling in the end.
I'm dl-ing Tonbi now but started Rondo while I'm waiting. LOL Working on clearing the ptw list. ;)

I've seen All About My Romance and I actually think it's one of the few drama's I watched while airing. I really liked it but due to the fact that I watched it while airing I lost interest. I don't think it's because of the drama though. I really liked the main lead. I would actually compare it with City Hall. Mature cast, politics likable leads, light fluffy, fun.

Hehe I still think you can express yourself pretty great. I myself wish my native tongue was English, I'm looking for words all the time. LOL But Late Autumn, in the end I think I'll have to watch it again top actually discuss it in dept with you.

About LSJ, I Know! Do you know did he retire from acting or is his acting on a lower profile due to his other business?

It's true. I'm like you I watch for enjoyment so I'm also reluctant to write reviews. But I myself really appreciate all the people who take the time and give their opinions. It's up to the reader after all which review they find useful. I have to say though that the reviews of people I know or at least know their taste tend to weigh more of course.

Yeah I finished Tree of Heaven last night and although I can see why people like it. I myself wouldn't recommend it. I don't mind a sad drama from time to time but in my view there's unnecessary sadness.

Tonbi is on my priority list but I already started watching Rondo last night while downloading Tonbi. I guess I'll watch it first. ;)

Actually about Tonbi before you just mentioned it I put it on my PTW list am dl-ing it now. I already read your review and some other great comments. I'm actually trying to clear my PTW list though. I've told myself not to add more but start clearing what's on it first. :P So wish me luck. ;) So what I'm watching now are some movies to clear my mind nothing too heavy since I started watching Tree of Heaven while I was away which is just heartbreaking and depressing. Which doesn't mean bad per se but just real heavy on the melodrama and not my thing at this time. Tonbi will be next.

Yeah it's great to share the love of Asian cinema especially on festivals like that. There's a small cinema here in my city which sometimes schedules Asian days. Actually this Sunday they showed 3 movies as well. I wasn't able to go this time though.

Ah I should have checked your list when mentioning Bara no Nai Hanaya, but glad I was right about you liking it. Yes I like how they are both a bit quirky but so good natured.

Thank you :) It's hardest on my mother.

But year Tree of Heaven is just that one! I have to say I'm still undecided since I haven't seen the ending yet but it's a big heavy melodrama with loads of tears. It keeps me watching but it's not really my cup of tea too depressing at a time like this. :P

I'll let you know about Tonbi I read really good things about it.

Right now I wanted to clean up my PTW list and delete some entries, but I got stuck again. LOL
So for now I've decided to not add anything and slowly start finishing my list.

I've been watching some random movies now like Shadowless Sword which was just an average movie, entertaining but frankly not very good despite LSJ. I'm not looking for something too intense atm since I also started Tree of Heaven while I was away and that one is just one big tear fest. I think I've never seen a drama with so many wet eyes. I do like my melodrama from time to time but his one is just heartbreaking almost without any uplifting scenes. It's a good one if you're into epic loves which aren't meant to be and heart wrenching fates. But it's a little too much for me. It looks lovely though young people in the snow with long red scarf's and cute mittens. :P

Smile, You, I´ve seen it. I would have rated it higher if not for the last eps, for me the drama was stretched a bit. I think it's a great drama in it's genre. I heard more people complaining about LMJ but I like her. She's one of the few actresses who can pull of the cute act without annoying me, so I'll just hope she and Lee Byung Hun will be happy. ;)

I also rated Late Autumn a 7, I would have to watch it again to see why. I remember the movie, but in my memory it was quite good obviously something must have dragged it down to a 7.

I watched City Hall and it was a fun light watch with a mature cast. Time Between Dog and Wolf I liked better though. I remember one or two scene's/chars which didn't make it a 10 for me but I liked the overall theme and atmosphere. I would go for City Hall for a good light watch or Dog and Wolf if you want to be invested in the story.
