Yeah luckily I'm back. Unfortunately it was due to my aunt passing away that I was on a break. I don't mean to be to harsh but we weren't close. It was just that there weren't any other relatives who could do the arrangements.
A Man's Story hard to say. I liked the characters, but you've seen me go up and down while watching it. I didn't like the middle as much since the drama seemed to advocate bad vs. good too much for my taste. The drama surprised me and took me for a good ride the last or 5 eps. In the end I would actually recommend it if you're not too hung up about satisfying endings. :P

All is as well as it could be. My aunt passed away. Although we weren't close I've been arranging a lot since my parents aren't in great physical health.
I'm watching Heavens Tree at the moment since it was on my external hard drive which I brought with me. But I don't know if I like it. It's just so much misery, heartbreak and melodrama. It's not good for my mood!! Plus a lot of cliche's. I'll finish it though I'm on ep 9 now. While I was away I also watched Bara no nai hanaya. I loved it. So soothing with lovely uplifting heartwarming characters. I'm thinking about watching Tonbi next hoping it has a similar feel.

Hi,
I've been away almost 2 weeks. Family issues. But I'm back home now close to my internet and computer again!
How are you liking the first episodes of the on-going drama's? I like the Ghost theme if done well but I'm picky with comedy. So I'll wait and see what the opinions will be on these new drama's. Let me know what

Hi,
I've been away almost 2 weeks. Family issues which caused me to spend my days without internet. Luckily I'm back home now.
I love to go to film festivals! I try to go whenever I can, but I'm also a tad lazy and don't go if it requires a lot of traveling. :P Do you live close to London?
While I was away I brought a drama with me and while I was watching I thought of you. I think you would really like this one. Bara no nai Hanaya, it's really heartwarming but with a little mystery. For me it was a great watch and one of those Japanese gems.
I see you started Salary Man. How are you liking it so far?

Hi.

I watched the end of A Mans Story almost 2 weeks ago and the last 4 or 5 episodes left we thinking I was watching a different drama. It was really unexpected and got me on the edge of my seat and pulled me right back in. But the end was not perfect for me and brought the drama down again.
I did however bring some drama's with me when I went away and watched Bara no nai Hanaya which I had on my computer for while but never got around to watching. It was just so lovely but never sappy or corny.
What have you been up to, watched anything good?

Nope didn't see it but I'll have to check it to see what gave you a bad impression. Not now though am surfing on my phone not the most convenient way to browse MDL.(I hate autocorrect at this moment) lol
I still stand by my earlier review of a man's story concerning the overall theme and atmosphere but it's strangly addictive with lovely characters and not too much suspense. I guess It's just what the doktor ordered after CC, passionate love in Lovers and being irritated by watching 6 eps IHYV. Can't compare it with any of those which is kinda soothing.

I certainly see what you mean by heartwarming. :-P
Let me tell you sometimes it´s nice to watch together but most of the time I enjoy watching alone better. It´s so hard to please him drama-wise. But yes movies are fun to watch together most of the time. Actually how I keep my addiction going is with help of a couple of friends. Once every couple of weeks we watch movies together. This is a good tip to get your family and friends hooked on Asian cinema as well. Just pick a couple of good movies and organize a movie night.

I or should I say BF and me watched Miracle in Cell No7. We agreed that we hate you now since you suggested the movie. LOL Just kidding of course, but just 9 mins ago BOTH of us where crying our eyes out. LOL. Let me tell you this has never happened. I was a teary mess watching Koizora and occasionally I shed a few tears but this movie is just made to push all your tear glands no matter who you are. I normally don't really like when they try to manipulate you like this but I loved the humor and acting in this movie a lot as well. It's great in its genre.
I´m glad you liked Memories of Matsuko. I love how it unique without trying to be too unique to get the feelings across. Actually I'm enjoying movies now more too. But since I'm a fast watcher I tend to go through drama's quickly as well. I might have mentioned I work a lot at home and usually I have a drama on. Long live multitasking!
This was such a realistically haunting movie. It was great. Thanks for the review.

But OMG I just watched The Journals of Musan. I didn't read your review before going in and wasn't prepared at all. What a depressingly realistic addictive movie. I'm still a bit speechless and feel I have to shake the mood.

LOL I like your pun. :P I won't be "hearing" it anytime soon now since I just decided to put it on hold. I gave up hope for now. Totally not in the mood and not seeing anything changing since I already watched up to ep 6.
I'm curious about your opinion on Master's Sun and Who are you. I wont be watching while they air I'll come check up on you to see how you like them. :P

IHYV: actually my impression didn't change since I started watching it. It doesn't manage to grab my attention. I think the comedy aspect isn't funny. It just makes the serious parts less convincing and some characters annoying. They are trying to put across a message but the motivation in the court room and the actions of certain characters is just not written very convincing. Frankly to me it comes across as a bit childish. Plus the romance doesn't do it for me. No tension, no chemistry but I could have lived with that if not for my other objections. I decided to put it on hold since I'm not liking the drama now it will be hard for it to redeem itself so maybe a couple of months and a change of mood will work for me. :P

A Man's Story: In my opinion the writers are putting too much emphasis on the good vs. the evil making the motive for the main character a moral one as opposed to a personal more gritty motivation. I mean his opponent is already evil enough without highlighting the suffering of an entire village plus an old wise major with good moral life lessons. It kinda feels a bit like an episode of the A-Team. This is exaggerating of course, but just trying to make a point. ;) I guess I just like the main character to get his hands dirty and be a bit more dubious as well. Hehe. As for the romance, there is a bit in the beginning but non to speak of so far. I don't know where they will go with the love line in this drama but for me it's not a convincing one if they would try to pick it up again. So for the romance you shouldn't watch it.

Yeah it started really good. Nice plotting revenge an evil opponent and men coming together to accomplish something. But now It's getting a bit moralistic if you know what I mean. Anyway It's easy to keep watching because almost all the characters are fun to watch. I'll let you know my final verdict. One thing I know for sure though. Don't watch IHYV , It's not our thing. :-p.
Ah a 6 well that's lower than I expected. I guess I was more emotionally involved when watching it.
I do have queen of the game on my ptw list. Do you know if it has a happy ending? A drama doesn't have to have a happy ending for me but I'm in the mood for a exciting (revenge) drama with a satisfying end.

Actually I don't watch airing drama's but Two Weeks, The Masters Sun and Who Are You could be drama's I would watch in the future. I want to read some seriously reviews from people who's taste resembles mine a bit first though. Right now I'm trying to watch I Hear Your Voice which only has great reviews but I'm not feeling it at all. Are you planning to watch them while airing?

Breathless added!
I really meant to pick up Padam Padam sooner, I really think I would like it. I don't mind a good melodrama once in a while. But I never seem in the mood. I couldn't keep focused on IHYV so I already started A Man's Story which started really promising, but is going a bit downhill now. Have to see where it goes.
How did you like Nagareboshi now that you,ve finished it?
