I'm kinda taking things relatively slow. Aside from being busier I'm noticing I hardly feel like picking up a drama unless I'm convinced it's going to be good. Of course you can't really know this but you get my drift. Plus unlike my usual self I'm not always in the mood for all types of movies.
In the mean time I watched another of your recs. Chungking Express. I truly wonder why I didn't watch it sooner. Kaneshiro, Tony and Kar Wai a great combination! Thank you for reminding me. ;)

Yep I saw that there was going to be another movie. I also watched the 2011 movie and although I wasn't bored while watching it was a letdown because I was expecting too much after watching the drama.
I don't dislike martial art films but I 'm not particularly looking for the genre for me personally. I do however love good action and good fighting so I guess if I get to be more familiar with the genre I could grow to be a fan. :P But for a film weekend with friends I was looking for samurai orientated movies. We have different theme's every 'movieweekend' . So for this movie extravaganza I needed movies with the samurai theme and not only the traditional ones. I want to see different stories, told in different ways from different era's.
I 'm only watching Emergency Couple at the moment. Which is actually strange for several reasons.
The thing is I normally don't watch airing drama's or I try to avoid rom/coms esp Korean ones. For airing drama's it annoys the heck out of me to wait for new eps. Plus I like to emerge myself completely in one drama or movie and that's why I don't like watching more drama's at the same time. Anyhow I was bored and made the mistake of watching one ep of EC and that's how I got hooked.
I think I like most genre's but I try t avoid several unless I'm compelled to watch them for some reason. :P I usually don't pick up rom-coms, school drama's, business drama's and comedy. In movies I just avoid rom/com even more so then in drama's. I do love romance but I like the serious kind more. :P

And Ling, yes I haven't found anyone like him yet. LOL I actually stalked Vic Zhou to check out his other roles but frankly I ended up being disappointed. There's just no equally great/hot character. I figured I have a major character crush. Mike He has a similar vibe in some drama's but the drama's are just not this good. Still fun to watch though.
So what are your plans now?

YAY!! *jumps up and down* I'm so glad you loved it!!! It's great isn't it plus you basically see all characters grow and mature. I love how their love is so steady and how all the hardship makes them grow even closer. I was afraid you might not like the angst. I 'm addicted to angst if done well and not dragged out it makes me feel the drama more. And I thought that was exactly how they used it here.
For the romance, yes it's the best! Although Taiwanese drama's usually have great kisses and more skinship this one definitely is the best combined with feelings. Plus like I said before most Taiwanese drama's a have really annoying side characters and ridiculous acting mothers etc. LOL
I hardly ever get so obsessed about a drama or the charaters but MARS did it for me.
*sighs* I think I've rewatched the first eps over 10 times and finished the drama more then 5 times. lol

So no time for too many distraction then. :)
I agree I loved the show so much all the other episodes it made up for it. I also watched the movie afterwards but this was a disappointment after watching the drama. Still nice to see ho they ended up together but was expecting more.
I'm watching Emergency Couple, believe me it's nothing you'd enjoy. Basically it's a stereotypical mainstream Korean romance drama. :P But heck it's my cheap entertainment twice a week.
Since I 've been watching so many movies and mostly "heavy" ones plus work and rl is hectic. I feel a bit drained and am craving some fun without thinking too much. The thing is I get disappointed by most drama's I've been trying to watch in that category. EC doesn't annoy me and is fun so far. :)
The Virus seems interesting too btw, but like I said I don't want to start up anything too heavy atm.

LOL yes I noticed more resemblances between our likes. Long Love Letter, Soredemo, Tsumabuki, Eita. All I can say is good taste, hehe. What genre are you interested in. Do you also like revenge flicks etc? Have you checked our Confessions? It's a movie by the same director as Memories of Matsuko, totally different vibe to the movie though.
Anyway nice to come across you. I see you're watching quite a few airing drama's! I try to stay away from those since I can't stand waiting for new eps. Recently I got caught by Emergency Couple though which I liked against all odds. But is there anything good to watch from the airing ones in your opinion? I'm a bit in a drama slump and have been watching movies only mostly.

LOL!!! Maybe a bad joke but that's partly why when doubting between an 8 and 9 I gave it a 9 for now. LOL!!
Hehe good luck with your list. I'm desperately trying to shrink my lists so I can start with a clean slate, but it's a never ending battle. Plus I discovered yesterday that since I 've watched so many movies lately I'm kinda in a movie slump. So I don't feel like starting a movie. Also I 'm kinda reluctant to start a drama unless I know I 'll like it. But still not panicking my slumps never last more than a week or so. :P Besides work is getting busier again so I should just focus on that. ;)
Both drama's are great and so different I can't compare them or tell which one I liked better. I really loved Ice World too, great atmosphere in the drama plus I loved the combination of mystery and romance. Also I'm still playing the OST frequently.

Hi :)
I think I only finished two drama's in 2 or 3 months Mahoro Ekimae Bangaichi being one of them. I really enjoyed that one although the first 7 eps are definitely genius and the last few eps are a little less epic making them still great. Other than that I've been watching loads of movies. I 've really enjoyed a lot of them but a few that deserve to be mentioned are Parade, I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK, Kisaragi and Kuroneko.
At the moment I'm taking on another project at work so I 've become busier again but I also feel a bit at loss as what to watch. I feel I've watched so many movies I 'm a bit numb to any genre atm. SO I'm actually looking around for a good drama to watch. Then again I might be craving movies again tomorrow. lol
Oh and I also started watching an airing Korean rom/com which strangely enough I actually enjoy. LOL
So what have you been up to are you still busy?

I loved it! To be honest I loved the first 7 or so episodes like crazy, was even planning to put it up in my top 5. I was less fond the last eps. The humor and acting was still great but I preferred the "smaller" crazy eps without too much personal involvement. I didn't like the love line they were trying to create. But still didn't spoil the drama.
The HKC movies. I've been neglecting my movie watching duties. I've only watched White Vengeance but it was a good start I enjoyed the movie's entire atmosphere and story. Will be watching another one when I get home. I read your article on Jet Li which inspired me to look into more of his movies as well. The thing is I also want to check out more older Japanese movies. ShiningSuede recommended me some which I watched and now I'm going to stalk some of the directors. Plus work is getting busier so I feel like I don't have enough time. ;)

Right so imagine he finds the incense sticks because he knows they exist but doesn't use them to save himself (because he's already cured) or save his father (because he knows what happened and the evil guy is already punished). So in my imagination he saves them to go back when he's 50 something to save his brother in the Himalayas. Anyways that's how I simplified it in my head for it to end well. ;) Anyway it was a good watch and now I moved on already. LOL
Discovered another great watch, finished it and rated it a 10 already. LOL Mahoro Ekimae Bangaichi I think everyone should check it out too few people watched it. No romance though, but pure hilarious geniusness (is that even a word?). LOL

Ah I'm so glad your first impression is a good one. Sometimes a drama just doesn't suit your taste from the get go. Plus it's a Taiwanese drama and the don't always sit well with everyone. IMHO mostly due to the overacting of side characters but luckily it's not too bad in MARS. I do hope the angst won't get the better of you though since there is more to come in different situations. But in my opinion it's always understandable and it's solved fairly quickly. I forgot you're not especially keen on angst. ;) I don't mind it as long as I feel it fits the storyline, it's not dragged out too much and the characters don't act irrational. But yeah...Ling!!! Never found another character like him in any other drama. Also I've been waking up to the begin tune for at least the past 5 years. LOL I have it set as my alarm. Happy viewing!

Oh MARS! I hope you'll like it. For me I think it will always be my number 1 but I've rewatched it a couple of times and I know it's at least partly for sentimental reasons no drama is perfect. Oh well in the end it's the feeling that counts right. If you can look through some of the minor flaws it also has a deep meaning. Keep me updated on your opinion I'd love to know what you think watching it a first time. Ling is my all time favorite cool guy.

Well I'm confident only a few eps in because it's episodic so it's usually hard to screw up the ending when the they end up every story in each ep. The acting is great and I don't see that changing quickly. Plus I'm seriously loving every minute of it down to the credit titles. So I just had to spread the word. :P Of course I'm not 100% sure you'll love it like I do, but I hope/think you will. The comedy is not slapstick or silly. It's the dialogue between the two leads, the attitude they have towards life and the crazy "handy-man" jobs they get. Also I love how they have no judgment, I mean they have an opinion on how they should handle things but they don't get involved in their customers life too deeply because they want to do good or achieve something. It all just seems "real". This could be the life of two friends with no particular goal in life just running into strange jobs.
