Overrated? You mean underrated? And yes Eita is a acting god. LOL I love his characters and am very fond of Matsuda as well In this drama they are so well matched. I'm loving every second so far.

Storyline is very important for me too but acting can be such a thorn in my eye when I don't like something. It ca spoil a good show for me. And believe me I forgave a lot in nine because of the "bad guy" I was cringing every time he was pulling faces. LOL I'm by no means an acting specialist though it's just what suits my taste. I can imagine some people appreciate this kind of use of facial expressions....or maybe I can't in this case. LOL

I'll be getting around to watching the HK and Chinese movies you recommended this weekend.

Winnie, I've got a drama for you to watch!! Hehe. Of course it's up to you but I think you'll love it. I know you're not really into drama's atm and I think I read you're planning to watch something else. But this one certainly deserves to be watched by more people. Check out Mahoro Ekimae Bangaichi. It's unique in how great it is, slice of life/humor but not too corny or emotional. Even if it doesn't look that great from the synopsis it deserves a try!

I finished Nine and I loved the ending! Great how they keep it open for interpretation. What did you think? In my mind the 20 years older Sun Woo came back to save his brother in the snow. In this reality he didn't use the incense sticks to fix other things but kept them just to save his brother. This would also mean that he didn't die in that phonebooth because he never would have gone back in the first place.

I love EC but it's difficult because it's an airing drama. I'm not used to watching those and it might cloud my judgment. I did marathon the first 4 though and those got me hooked. We'll seen in the end. For now I love the light entertainment.

Hehe I liked CP when I first watched it a lot but I wonder if I would still rate it the same. I've grown much more impatient with the genre. But since I didn't rewatch it et I still have very fond memories about the it.

On another note, I just started watching Mahoro Ekimae Bangaichi. I'm totally falling in love with Eita and Matsuda all over again. I'm just two eps in but if they keep this up it might be the best drama I saw in a while. I'm so glad I try out drama's which don't appeal to me at first glance otherwise I wouldn't have tried this one as it is listed as a comedy. (which is obviously is but in the best way possible).

Just had to mention that here since I'm enjoying every second of this drama. Seems like I'm slowly warming up to drama again with two good watches in a row. ;)

The male lead in Nine is also my ideal type of male lead but unlike you I'm not raving about his acting. I thought esp. in the beginning he had some awkward moments, but for me the redeeming factor was that I love his type of character. I gave the drama a 9 because of the acting, may drop to an 8 when I'm off the high. The storyline was great but the overacting on Jeong Dong Hwan's part TOTALLY annoyed me.

I'm actually not cleaning up without watching it's just that I did some "easy" watching. Nothing special came along while watching those. Maybe worth mentioning was The Unjust, superb acting, same writer/director as The Berlin File. But frankly it took a while for this movie to get started IMHO. The ending is great but maybe I've seen too many corrupt police stories from Korea. :P

Just started watching this and it's genius. It took me a while because the synopsis didn't seem special but once you start watching you realize that's it's strength. It's actually not a drama about anything special but that makes it so appealing, real, hilarious and "heartwarming" in a strange way. Such a shame it's not more widely known. Eita and Matsuda shine in their roles. This deserves more viewers!

Please add betrayal under genres.
Could you please remove spoilers from your review. Some people like to go into a drama without knowing the ending. :)

I know Tokyo Dogs is a comedy but me and comedy don't always mix well. Hard to explain exactly what type of comedy I like and what puts me off. I always have to try myself. Like I love the banter but I hate when it gets "serious" and it doesn't look or feel serious and neither is it funny. Yep I'm a picky comedy watcher.
Oguri Shun is a mystery for me. I don't like his acting much, maybe due to the roles he plays but then again he played a lot of different roles. He just never convinces me. It doesn't stop me from watching a certain production but he always sticks out in a negative way. He also reminds me of someone I know so maybe that's it. Anyway I can't get myself to like him in most things with the exception of Kisaragi. Loved that movie and his role if you haven't seen it I'd recommend it. It's a mystery/comedy (yes comedy :P). I think it's brilliant!

I thought Death Note was a nice watch as well but I couldn't stop comparing it with the anime. Also one of the first movies in which Kenichi really caught my attention. I've been stalking his movies and he's very versatile. I hope to see him in something with action soon.

I have 3 more eps left of Nine and I love it! It's time travel done right plus a perfect mix of genre's. I really don't like Jeong Dong Hwan overacting though. Annoys the heck out of me. LOL It's a shame because the rest is great. Sun Woo is now stranded in the past and I really want to continue watching but I also don't want it to end. LOL So I was inspired by your msg on the feeds about cleaning up your HDD and I'm stalling some time with cleaning up my HD. So I rushed some movies through which didn't interest me much. I'll be finishing Nine tomorrow.

This was considered a romance movie? The scenery of the movie, the old buildings, cherry trees, the historical…
Romance movies aren't just movies with two people holding hands and gazing into each others eyes before living happy ever after. It's a deep love story with denial, longing and pain. I'm sorry it didn't fit your taste.

And of course movies are still being watched. :P Most recent one I saw was Voice of a Murderer, heartbreaking since it's based on true events and depicts the despair two parents go through when their child is kidnapped. The acting is great but I found my mind wandering at times because of the sometimes repetitive story telling. Deep emotional impact at the end though.

The best watch from the last week or so would be Kuroneko recommended by BlindedByTheShining. If you want to try an older Japanese movie which is not a "standard" samurai movie you should try that one. Loved it.

Actually I really wanted to watch a drama but nothing appealed to me except for Emergency Couple which I found strangely funny and great to watch. (I know really out of character). But this is a airing drama, I'm already regretting starting it up. Anyways I wanted to watch a completed drama so I just tried some which I already had on my HD. Figured I could make some space that way as well. :P I started up Tokyo Dogs and although I love the banter between the two cop main leads it's a bit to silly for me. Put that one on hold for now. I also started up Nine Times Time Travel and in 5 days I almost completed it. It's great! Have you seen it? I think it's a great mix of different genre's and an example of a time travel drama done well. The only thing that annoys me is the overacting from the bad guy, really pulls my viewing pleasure down but other than that I think it's a great story!

Ah let me know when you watched Fudoh I'm curious as to what you will make of it. LOL

Running man is great and I can totally relate. I usually don't like the type of comedy in drama's or even worse movies. :P (There are exceptions of course). But in variety like running man its great and a good break from serious drama stuff. Are you watching all eps from the beginning? There's a nice character build-up.

And Suzuki Sensei on your PTW list! Rated that one a 10, genius school drama with deeper theme's! Very original. If I had more time I'd rewatch that one! I'm usually not into school drama's but I felt like watching The Queens Classroom after watching Suzuki but I believe it was you who said it's better to not watch two "similar" themed drama's after each other so you don't compare them too much. Wise advice. :P Hope you'll enjoy Suzuki Sensei as much as I have.

LOL glad you liked it but instead of using all names call me Pien it's my MDL and real name. ;)

I was fed up by most drama's nothing really appealed to me aside from EC but I started watching Nine Times Time Travel this weekend and almost finished it I'm loving it. I'm on ep 18 atm and I don't want it to stop!
How are you enjoying Bara no nai Hanaya. I saw you're also rewatching CP, hehe. Hope you're having fun. :P

Oh yes Visitor Q, well...hehe. I think I've never seen a movie with so many controversial themes in one movie. Some may call it depraved. For me however I still saw the underlying theme and humor. It was sometimes shocking but not because of the images but more disbelieve that Miike put it all in one film. Amazing acting also, makes you think how it was on set. If you're quickly offended or shy away from controversial films you just shouldn't watch it. I liked it though. Did you watch it as well?

Also I was kinda restless didn't feel like watching a movie so I started watching Tokyo Dogs. I kinda enjoyed the first two eps but the police work is really bothering me and I'm no big fan of Shun. Then I started watching Nine and it took me by suprise. Totally in love with that one now!

Hehe "hate" is such a strong word especially in combination with kids. Makes me seem like some evil person scheming like some Gargamel and mumbling "I hate kids!" LOL It's just the idea of a family drama or movie with kids doesn't appeal to me. Which is strange because I have seen some good ones but I usually avoid those.

Well that's understandable there are not so many Dutch speaking countries. My knowledge of Arabic or even French is very limited too and those are more widely spread. Which language is your native tongue?
They stick with my first baptismal name, which is my own, or Pien. ;) My second name is from my grandmother on fathers side, third name grandmother on mothers side, then there's one for my mother and one for my father. I only have to use all names on official documents or MDL. LOL So it's not that I was more innovative then you when creating my name here, hehe.

Oh well at least you can still balance some movies in your schedule, must be tough. When I get busy I tend to disappear from movie/drama land all together.
Ha Jung Woo yes I love him! He´s in my top list of favorite Korean actors: I think I have his pic on my profile as well (I´m too lazy to go check now). ;) I'll have to watch that one as well then. To be honest I'm slowly working my way through all his movies so it's bound to come up sometime.

It's my loss because I still haven't dropped my first drama and on hold means I'll still have to watch it. Yes, I know it's crazy but it's something I committed myself to and it's hard to let go. LOL To be honest I actually should start dropping drama's. I've been cheating myself. There have been drama's of which I watched one ep and just didn't continue for fear of having to put it on hold. Let's just say I'm crazy like that. ;)

Hehe yes differences in tastes but also similarities so not much to go on. LOL I know a lot of work went in that list. ;) I've been at it almost a decade. Plus working at home is like oil on a film/drama addiction campfire. :P

The little girl is really cute. I liked this drama despite the cute girl. I usually try to avoid little children in drama's. It sounds harsh but they tend to get on my nerves. This girl I loved though. LOL

It's a fairly common Dutch name It's short for Josephine one of my Christian names. I have 5 names given to me when I was baptized. It was common use in catholic families here. Rather silly actually since our family never practiced the religion but I still got the baptism and names. :P Some of my friends actually call me Pien in real life. What about yours is there a special meaning behind it. It means light right?

Well just watched Visitor Q and I knew what to expect but this movie showed more perversities and fetishes then I ever saw in one film combined. LOL I never felt it was hard to watch though and I really appreciate the combination of shock and comedy combined with a deeper meaning. So I agree with you yes it was a good watch. Have you seen Fudoh? Also a Miike film in witch I really loved his style of humor.
