Hehe I tend to like gruesome scenes like spurting blood though. I already watched the remake, oh and also Ichi a spinoff with a blind girl who is supposedly Zatoichi's student. Which wasn't a great movie but a fun watch for me none the less. I'll get around to watching the first movie to get a feel of the series. If I really like it I might pick them up. ;)

Yamada-san! Seriously why? Am I missing something? LOL

For Green Chair to be fair my rating is harsh I tend to lower my rating when a movie doesn't stick with me and I have to think real hard what it was about again. That's what happened with Green Chair over time :P. It wasn't the theme or explicit scene's that bothered me it was just that the movie failed to grab me. The movie felt a bit pointless. It wasn't as provocative as I thought it would be. And I don't mean the love scene's. I was just expecting more food for thought because I didn't think the age difference was enough to make the whole movie float on.

What happened with Strawberry on the shortcake what was your final judgment? Thumbs up or down? And I see you're watching lovers, have fun. I think it's one of the best Korean drama's!

Ah good for you. Hope you have fun. At least you get to see Eita and Mitsushima Hikari. ;)

I see you've been going through all the Zatoichi movies, hehe. Do you recommend them?

Haha true, but the good thing about most movie watchers is that most of the time they are more inclined to try other genre's or movies they may not pick themselves. Of course this is also because it only takes a two hour investment and not a 16 hour commitment or more. Regardless I feel it's safer to recommend films then it is drama's.
Personally I hope people like my recs of course but I know everyone has their own tastes I just hope they can see something good and sometimes especially in my real life crowd of people I don't always expect them to like it I just want them to see something new or I want to share something I think is good to exchange opinions.

I agree with you on Korean movies for crime, and not only crime. I'm liking their movies much more then their drama's.

LOL I can understand your slight reluctance but being familiar with Miike's work and having watched Harakiri. I think I can say you'll be good watching the remake. It's not screwed up somehow and it's a treat to watch but in my humble opinion the original is still a lot better and I watched the remake first so I knew the story.

Actually I haven't seen it. :P

Neither did I watch Nine times time travel or Mother so let me know what you think about them. I did watch Arang but I didn't care for it at all while watching and when looking back at it I don't have good thoughts about the drama so my rating has been harsh. Maybe too harsh LOL but they can't all be great, plus we all have different opinions. I usually like Lee Jun Ki though but I'm still on the fence about his acting so when I have more time I'm planning to watch Two Weeks.

Ah I go with the same approach ;) And I agree on Harakiri. I had already seen the remake but the 1962 one is a masterpiece. I just now finished watching Yojimbo but it was much less to my liking, still liked the atmosphere though.

Hiya, sorry for the late reply.
I'm catching up with work and social activities here and there. Plus I'm the kind of person when I sit down in front of the computer I get distracted and end up forgetting everything but MDL, drama's and movies. LOL I can't just sit down for half an hour. I usually get distracted and end up losing hours missing deadlines for work and canceling appointments with friends. :P So when I'm busy I just try to stay away for a few days. ;)
Anyways thanks for the rec. I'm dl-ing it now. The next few weeks I'll be watching mostly movies so I'll be watching Re-encounter as well. Did you pick up a new drama?

I'm very reluctant in recommending horrors since I never know what ticks someone's boxes or what freaks them out too much. For some seeing a scary ghost is worse or a leg being cut off but for others a certain idea or thought pattern is the true horror if you know what I mean. Anyway if you feel up to it I think if you're interested in watching works of these directors this is a great film to watch. Plus you see three different takes on horror. Anyway I really loved it. ;)

I haven't heard of Parallel Life but I'm adding it. For now I'll only be watching movies and they'll mostly be crime, thrillers and horrors so thanks for the rec!

I started Tenchijin with the full intention of continuing and I'm really loving the first eps, the history and the acting, but right now I'm not watching since I don't have the time to watch it fast enough for my taste. I like to watch my drama's when I have more time.
Let me know if you have any good movie recs I'll add em to my list. ;)

I'm planning to watch "The Berlin File" very soon and I already watched "The New World". I really loved the latter. Although it's not really anything new it really fits my taste and I thought it was done really well!
Right now I'm still focusing on watching movies (mostly crime, horror and historical) and maintaining some social contacts outside drama's and such. :P
I'm specifically working on finishing a list with Takashi Miike films but let me tell you they can be totally random and full of perversions like Fudoh. Luckily I'm the sort of person who can appreciate that sort of thing from time to time. You mentioned Ichi the Killer, I loved that one as well!

Thanks a bunch we enjoyed watching it!

Totally put us in a thriller/horror/crime movie phase. Today I saw Three...Extremes I actually don't know how much you like horror-ish movies but I really think as a movie lover this one deserves a watch. It's 3 short movies, one being from the director of Old Boy, Park Chan-Wook and being from from Takashi Miike director of Audition etc. I didn't find the stories very terrifying but they can be quite disturbing so if it's not your thing don't watch it.

For now I've put all drama's on hold except Tenchijin. I'll watch that one in a slow pace for the next couple of weeks though. My bf is in town. He's away for his work weeks at the time and comes home for a couple of weeks in between jobs. During the periods that he's here I don't spend as much time watching drama's compared to my dramathon craziness while he's away. LOL He's also a movie lover though so we watch a lot of movies together. Today we saw Three..Extremes which I simply loved, I'm planning to buy it for my collection. I actually want to watch it again especially Miike's story since I'm left with a few questions. Also we have Imprint and Gozu lined up to watch and a bunch of Korean movies mostly crime, suspense thriller and horror. So it's going to be scary movie time over here, hehe going to be fun!

Hi, I'm just dropping by to let you know I read your review and loved it. I think you did quite well in getting some attention to a drama that's been overlooked! Plus it's really good you wrote a review for this particular drama. The drama is totally different from what I would've expected from just reading the synopsis. I guess it would give a lot of people wrong expectations. Or it might even stop them from trying the drama.
The upcoming 2 weeks I won't be watching many drama episodes myself my bf is in town these couple of weeks (he's away for work for weeks at the time). And guess what we watch movies, he doesn't like drama's. LOL.

No reason the change something if it means something to you.
Yeah I accumulated quite a few drama's and movies over the years. LOL It helps that I actually spend a lot of time watching them. I drag everyone around me down with me into drama or movie world. Most of them can't handle the drama's, but I've managed to infect a lot of people with the movie decease. They know when they come around to my place that they'll get something to drink, something to eat, I'll sit them down on the couch and I'll put on a movie. LOL

I haven't watched "I came in search of a flower" though. How was it? Is it a melodrama? Slow paced, fast paced? There are no reviews for the drama yet. :P
