Dark, disturbing and very sad. I watched this on a whim with no prior knowledge of the plot at all, so I went in without any expectations. It was an interesting movie.
This is confusing, you can only get DID in early childhood from extreme trauma. Even if you say she got it as…
Did the summary change? It looks like she got it through some kind of trauma related to her brother and there's no mention of her getting it when she became an adult.
I'm glad that you mentioned "world building". This was bothering me for a very long time. Like if I was watching…
World building was indeed the biggest issue for me. There's a lot there, but it feels like we're not told enough. Obviously, I don't need to know absolutely everything (it's impossible in a drama of 39 episodes), but I was left with some unanswered questions and some of them were (at least for me) important. I shared some of my questions here and luckily people shared their views and opinions and it did end up helping.
This plot is a cliche in novels and works well. Gui Nv and KP was based in rebirth novels.
I suppose the problem is repetitiveness, right? If they all start following the same structure and tropes, they are no longer interesting. In that case, what makes the story will be the characters. If the characters are interesting and fun, then you will still be able to read and enjoy it.
I'm glad I waited for the whole drama to finish airing before starting this one, because this is definitely a drama to watch at your own pace.
Does this drama have flaws? Yes, like all dramas out there it has its flaws. Is it still a great drama? Absolutely!
Obviously that assessment is subjective and personal. For me, the flaws weren't substantial enough to affect my enjoyment of the drama, but I think they should be mentioned:
- First of all this drama has some pacing issues - In terms of world building, I was left with some questions that were not answered - I didn't like the use of animal abuse as comedic relief
That being said, there were so many things that this drama did right:
- I LOVED the two main characters. The two have great chemistry together and I liked how their relationship developed, but what I loved the most about them is that they're individually interesting characters. Their love story is just part of their journey. - Visually, this drama was an absolute delight, which is to be expected from a high budget drama. - The music was beautiful - I loved the battle scenes. Especially the ones with Shen Li. They were very dynamic. - I ended up liking a lot of the characters and would have actually liked to have seen more of them - I LOVED the last two episodes. I was left with a huge smile on my face.
I would definitely recommend this drama to anyone hesitating to try it. I would have to add that the drama shouldn't be dropped before you finish the first 8 or so episodes, because the story only actually starts after episode 6.
It's unclear the exact mission, just mentioned he wasn't "born" with one, whereas other AGs have specifics like…
After seeing just how lonely he has been and for how long, the ending just warms my heart. I was left with a huge smile on my face after I finished the last episode.
So the reason Natural Law didn't reveal Xing Zhi's mission when he was born was because his mission was to destroy the Extranatural Heaven? I wonder if the other Ancient Gods could guess it. It seems very sad somehow. His birth foretold their death.
Based on what's shown in the drama, Mofang was born in the Abyss. Then Fu Sheng escaped the Abyss with baby Mofang.…
So the novel gives the same information as the drama. I was actually wondering if he's even Liuming's son in the first place. It seems like Liuming was planning on using his body to resurrect himself once he's out of the Abyss, which made me wonder if he created Mofang somehow. That he wasn't born naturally and doesn't even have a mother to begin with. I guess we'll never know.
Another question for the novel readers. In the beginning of the drama we're told that the Divine Realm are humans who cultivated into immortality and the Immortal Realm are beasts that cultivated into immortality. In th drama we're only ever shown that Shen Li is a phoenix, but we're never shown which beasts the rest of the Immortal Realm characters are. Even in terms of manifestation of sporitual power, only Shen Li's has clear phoenix references. Is this different in the novel? Does the novel explain what the true form of the important characters in the Immortal Realm is?
Based on what's shown in the drama, Mofang was born in the Abyss. Then Fu Sheng escaped the Abyss with baby Mofang.…
I'm aware Liuming is not a Chimei, but seeing as Mofang seemed to have been born in the Abyss and there were only Chimei and Liuming in there, it seems likely that his mother is a Chimei, making him half Chimei.
I have a question about Mofang. Seeing as it's probably not going to be answered in the drama, maybe someone who…
Based on what's shown in the drama, Mofang was born in the Abyss. Then Fu Sheng escaped the Abyss with baby Mofang. So who is his mother? As far as we know, only Chimei and Liuming were locked up in the Abyss. Does that mean that Mofang is also half Chimei like Shen Li?
