SL is definitely a character with a tragic backstory but you are correct in your view of him. He’s presented…
I'll have to agree that SL would not have had a chance even if MY never met JBZ. MY and JBZ have very similar core values and while all three have a traumatic and tragic past, MY and JBZ come out of it selfless while SL seems to be inherently selfish. That also indeed shows in the way JBZ shows his love and in the way SL does. I don't think SL is in love with MY. He seems to be obsessed with an idea of who he thinks she is. He never really wants to get to know the actual MY. He just assumes he knows her, because he met her once a long time ago and followed her life as MX from afar. But MY is not that public persona that she was expected to present as MX. Sure, it's part of who she is, but only a small part. So on top of being obsessed with her, he's not even obsessed with the real her.
There will be more in what exactly happened 100 years ago. But I wouldn’t focus on blocked spiritual veins all…
They keep bringing it up 😋 Obviously not the focus, but since I'm loving the rest so much, I feel like they should have left it out if it's not worked out well. Seeing as this is based on a novel, I'm just assuming it was one of the elements there.
MQB fled and hid with his netherbeasts, but why didn't they catch and imprison his followers. What is that psycho Sun Liao doing at the ceremony? He kidnapped and tortured 27, ZT and MY and is just left unpunished? That's just asking for trouble. He should have been killed much earlier.
The whole idea that women are not allowed to cultivate Spiritual Veins to the point where their Spiritual Veins are painfully blocked wasn't executed all that well. Are we supposed to believe that in a world where Spiritual Veins are rare they punished all women in perpetuity for something that a handful of women did a hundred years ago? Beyond being unfair, like Tian Ji mentions later, it's illogical. What happened to punish the guilty?
The only way this makes sense is that men in power didn't want to share it with women and were already preparing to find a way to strip them of Spiritual Veins. To defend themselves, some women then created Netherbeasts to protect themselves, but ended up making things worse and giving them an excuse to punish all women. Another explanation would be that it wasn't even Fairies with Spiritual Veins who created the Netherbeasts to begin with, but ended up beings scapegoats when it became clear Netherbeasts can't really be controlled.
Otherwise, if there really were some evil Fairies who created Netherbeasts to do evil things, punishing everyone just doesn't make sense.
Will they give another explanation on why women were not allowed to cultivate Spiritual Veins? Or are they done with that now that Tian Ji is allowing it again?
she’s been through so much too, tho 🥲 people just overlook that cuz it’s not as hellish as JBZ’s, but…
I definitely don't overlook her past either, which is the reason why I understand that she's afraid and also has trust issues. She's clearly been used all her life and any affection she was given was conditional. It broke my heart the way she was apologizing to her mother and just a hug in a vision had such an effect on her. That' s why I said I WISH she would get over her fear. I'm not blaming her for taking her time and I'm not expecting her to be at the same pace as he is. It's just that at this point they have both been through so much and they have also been through a lot together and it's clear they love each other. They deserve to be happy.
After everything he has been through, Ji Bo Zai is still such a pure and kind soul. He still chooses to love and to trust. I wish she could overcome her fear and just tell him everything.
oh he took it a thousand steps further.. you have no idea how far he went. Just keep watching
In all honesty, he seems very traumatized by his past (and he has a right to be, he was treated horribly), so his feelings for her are less like love and more like an obsession. It was already strange how lifelong admiration and respect turned into romantic love instantaneously the moment he realized that she was a woman. He also seems blind to what's actually happening and is deluding himself to believe what he wants to believe. All of that is a recipe for some horrible decisions down the line. I hoped he wouldn't go that far, but based on your comment I'm preparing for the worst.
I'm only on episode 9 now, but unfortunately it looks like Situ Ling is going in the direction of "I'm in love with you and I'm willing to do all these things for you, so naturally you're going to have to love me too." It's this assumption that the FL somehow owes them affection that usually makes SML's unbearable. I'm hoping I'm wrong.
While I personally thought he did very well in all aspects I can understand why some people wouldn't be fully…
I can definitely agree with that. Once the characters grow on you, you will stop seeing the things that you noticed before. That's probably why I still loved this drama despite its flaws.
https://www.douyin.com/video/7562984186328419584 TTOETM fans, if you miss Tan Tai Jin, Ji Ze, Tan Tai Ming Lan,…
The wait is over and I'll definitely be there, but only after all the episodes have aired. I've seen the trailer and if I have to wait episode by episode, I might actually go insane.
Xianxia dramas are always a wild and dramatic journey and this drama definitely delivers in that aspect. This drama is by no means without flaws, but most are minor enough that I could overlook them and still enjoy the drama.
The biggest flaw for me was the storytelling. At some point after their first lifetime the story lost its way a little. Fortunately by that time, the characters had become so endearing to me that I was willing to continue watching and still enjoyed most of their interactions.
While I liked the characters, I wasn't always on board with the acting. While I think Chen Fei Yu is visually a fit for the character and by no means did badly in terms of acting, he lacked the charisma and screen presence to carry the role of Sima Jiao perfectly. It was a very subdued performance. In contrast, Wang Ying Lu's performance was overly dramatic and while for most of the scenes that worked out fine, some of the emotional scenes didn't land well.
The chemistry between the main leads was however undeniable and when together they did light up the screen.
Random question, does anyone know what are the red flowers in the paintings and the opening song and what do they…
Looks very much like Angel's Trumpets. It's the toxic flower that Qing Mei named her after. It symbolises transformation, spirituality, deception and danger.

Overall, I ended up really enjoying this drama.
