"She graces my view, occupies my mind, claims my heart." That's an unforgettable confession. The audacity…
Definitely agree with that. I feel like the SML would have been better off just accepting their relationship and concentrating on his goal of making the country a better place. I would have LOVED to see their daughter. And also the wedding night 😋
This was one of the dramas I was looking forward to the most and for the most part I did enjoy it.
Admittedly, this drama shines in the lighter, cuter moments and battle scenes and not so much in the political intrigue.
They clearly went for a lighter approach and having a main couple who are equally accomplished individually, are supportive and understanding and have great chemistry really did help make this an enjoyable drama.
There are some things that don't make sense from the beginning and characters stray from their established personalities towards the end to make some contrived and unnecessary storylines happen, but overall I liked this drama.
While this drama was not necessarily bad (it had its moments), if I had to describe it in one word, it would be 'bland'.
It's very unfortunate, because it had potential to be great. However, not much really worked out.
The core battle of this drama is between love and hate and determining which of the two is the stronger power. Love being the positive force, this drama obviously shows how love is clearly the stronger of the two. To emphasize that, we are given five couples to follow.
Given how much emphasis is put on love, one of the most disappointing things about this drama is the main couple. The way their story develops lacks any excitement. It's bland and predictable and the lack of chemistry between the two didn't help either. Among the dramas I have watched lately, Yang Mi and Gong Jun have the least chemistry together.
While some of the other couples do share better chemistry, none really get enough screen time to let their love story develop in any shape or form, which is unsurprising given the sheer volume of couples crammed into 36 episodes.
Another disappointing aspect are the villains. All are ineffective and one dimensional. None are interesting.
The story itself is repetitive, predictable and lacks any tension and drama. It's not exciting. It's not dramatic. You're never on the edge of your seat. You're never so mad that you scream at the screen, nor so happy for the characters or sad at emotional scenes. This drama just didn't move me at all.
And then there's the connection to Love In Pavilion. To keep things chronological I watched LIP first. When I started Red Moon Pact, one of the first things that disappointed me were the inconsistencies between the two dramas. Things weren't adding up and didn't make sense. At some point I just watched this as a separate entity. The writers did a really bad job connecting the two dramas. It's a shame.
I was actually wondering this too. Did he show up in Love In Pavilion?
He wasn't even mentioned in Love in Pavilion. Based on the fact that he and Hong Hong met when she was a child and she's centuries old, he's most likely one of Yue Chu's ancestors. He was long dead before Love In Pavilion as that drama is set only decades before this one.
Because he doesn't believe that his uncle orchestrated everything. He believes everything was planned by NH and he blamed his uncle. By this point CGH is so far gone into his delusions, no amount of truth can dig him out. It was already shown before that he doesn't care about real truth, he only cares about the truth he believes in and if others don't believe it, he doesn't have a problem with fabricating evidence to prove his delusions.
This appeared on my Netflix recommendations, so I thought why not, it looks bright and silly and stars Satoh Takeru. I'm in! Initially , I thought this would be a fun, educational movie that I can relax and laugh watching. I didn't expect it to get emotional, but it did. Yes, this movie made me laugh and it was cute, but it also doesn't shy away from showing emotional and darker elements as well.
Just finished it and I must say whatever flaws this drama has (and it would be a lie to say it's flawless), it managed to entertain me from beginning to the end with hardly any boring moments. The biggest reason for that for me personally is the fact that there are actually many lovable characters in this drama and I liked watching them even if they were just goofing around sometimes. The actors did really well portraying their characters. Despite the "rocky" relationship of their characters, LYN and LYT share great chemistry together.
While this drama is mostly on the lighter and comedic side, there are also very profound conversations that the characters have with each other.
It's visually stunning with a fitting OST.
There are a few things that bothered me, but overall I enjoyed this a lot.
That's a huge spoiler. Are you sure you want to know?
What happened with the Empress is actually very simple. The Emperor only loved her and didn't love Nan Heng's mother. In addition he was afraid of the growing strength of the Gao family, so he blatantly favoured the Empress, Nan Rui and the Chu family. Nan Heng's uncle is highly ambitious, so his goal from the start is to put Nan Heng on the throne. The Empress was in the way of that, so he is the one who organized the assassination. He didn't expect the Emperor to blame Nan Heng and make his life worse. Although at the same time he always wanted to make Nan Heng more ruthless and only depended on him, so it worked in his advantage anyway.
I'm on episode 18... does the Emperor ever get any better? I want to cast him into the fires of hell at the moment.
I wouldn't call it better, but I finished episode 33 now and he's treating Nan Heng better. To me he's still the same horrible person, but his treatment of his son has at least changed.
What evil has Nan Heng done? None — and that is no accident. The script shields him from all sin. Every ruthless…
I suppose that's one way to look at it. It doesn't take away that there are also other ways to interpret it. Unless the writer clarifies, there's no way to know what the intention was. I will agree that Chu Gui Hong is not written very well. As you said, there's no gradual progression. He goes insane too fast. However, I still have to take into consideration that it's not the real world. Nan Heng and Chu Gui Hong are written as rivals in the original script, so they are forced to be rivals even when she makes all the changes. If Nan Heng is the good guy, as his rival Chu Gui Hong has to take on the role of the bad guy.
Also, we are aware from the beginning that the original script is bad. That can also be a contributing factor to the way things progressed.
That's an unforgettable confession. The audacity people had to try and separate them after he said that in public is a disgrace.
