And I wanted to add, as a spoiler, that if you make a show about a woman that can choose a marriage partner out…
Indeed. As the XY-person who gets called "mom" by the kids and their friends I should have found this relatable but instead I found it very confusing.

Why style the character like an end stage ahjussi? What's wrong with trying to appear attractive to the woman who interests you? Where's the body language that suggests any desire for closeness? How does solving her mommy issues make him a fit long term partner? What does she want from a man that she doesn't want from a maid?

Their logic is solid but they failed badly in justifying the characters acting upon it. The relationship may be sincere but it never transcends the transactional.

Let's hope that the English subtitles for the last three episodes (8, 9 & 10) when we are given access to episode…
I've never seen a drama in any language come with half a translation on Netflix.

I don't think the content is anything for an experienced translator to lose sleep over. Netflix use their own translators. They might be struggling to coordinate them because they've never before simulcast so many Japanese dramas subtitled in so many languages. The licensing terms, about which we know nothing, may also be an obstacle.
On A Girl & Three Sweethearts Dec 10, 2024
Who the hell translated this title as "and three sweethearts?" One is a delinquent drop-out, another is a sullen twat with boundary issues, and the third is held hostage by his ex and a web of lies. Is this drama perhaps some sad commentary on the partner choices available to Japanese women? Not that the FL is much of a prize either.

I watched it because it did *not* say that is was based on some toxic manga from the 90s. That was a mistake. Being only half as bad as Itazura na Kiss is still, well, pretty f***ing bad.

I checked thoroughly. It's long gone from Netflix but no one here has updated the info. Update submitted. A lot…
I have and it's not entirely their fault. It turns out that Netflix in particular now rudely masks geoblocks as 404s, making a show appear not as "sorry, unavailable in your location" but instead look like it's completely gone if your IP address is in the wrong country. As an old-school IT person I would like to spank the systems manager who approved that asinine idea.

I'm prepared to log into only so many VPNs to do volunteer data upkeep.

Title Brewing Love
Should I start watching this before it ends? still afraid of a possible sad ending..
It sure says something about the current state of K-dramas that this is a legitimate question for a rom-com. At least no serial killer has shown up since I watched ep 6... right?
On After School Doctor Dec 8, 2024
Ep 7 is probably the best one yet for both the episodic plot and the main character's development. The young lady playing Reika (Hatanaka Ichika?) carries an impressive amount of the episode for an 11 year old actor.

how is the chemistry bn main lead?happy ending?
I found the relationship lacking in chemistry and dull. I did not for a minute believe that the leads had any real passion for each other. The acting was not the problem. The age difference was not the problem. The character writing and directing was the problem. No love triangle. The happy ending stretched the limits of fantasy.

The bromance was better than the romance. Actually, nearly every other relationship in this drama was more convincing than the leads'.

Watch My Man Is Cupid or Doom At Your Service instead.

In 160 characters and without any argument to support it you just dismissed the voice of 2500 Korean citizens as being that of some kind of out of touch, money hungry elite.

What a load of horse manure. Those are leftist slogans from the 70s and 80s and the era of banana republics, when those things were true.

The ROK, as was just demonstrated, has its own quota of inept, incompetent wingnuts and junta nostalgists who need no help from any nefarious CIA operatives and indeed would get no help if they asked for it. In fact the US government is having one big facepalm moment.

Do we know when it's going to end? They still haven't set a date for the final episode on MLD
I figure MDL has no end date because NTV hasn't published air dates beyond episode 8.

MDL always follows the original broadcaster's schedule.Netflix is a week behind on-air for this drama.Netflix…
Perhaps JP broadcasting doesn't have industry standard practices for this. As overseas customers, though, we're buying the product from Netflix so Netflix is the face at the front. This is from whom we expect the same level of unwavering consistency that they have demonstrated in westernizing the Japanese name order and stripping away the nuance of Korean honorifics.

Netflix are capable of standardizing. They haven't been able to do so yet with this class of product.

I'm so confused it says it ends on the 29th and that's there's 8 eps but it only goes to ep 7...special ep maybe…
MDL always follows the original broadcaster's schedule.

Netflix is a week behind on-air for this drama.
Netflix is two weeks behind on-air for AARO.
Netflix is up to date on After School Doctor but hides untranslated episodes behind the Premium paywall.

Netflix just discovered that J-dramas exist and bought a few but have no idea how to manage them consistently.

You should watch it. It's not quite on the level of Good Partner or Search: WWW but it's still a solid drama with a strong female lead.

How is the ending of this series?
FL ultimately triumphs over evil. Bad men are sad princesses and get lollipops and a pat on the head.

It sounds like I'm joking but I'm not. I did appreciate the lack of violence in this drama.
On Oh No! Here Comes Trouble Dec 1, 2024
This is special. An exceptional balance of imagination, story, humour, characters, and emotion.

In well over 200 completed dramas this is only my eighth perfect 10 rating and I didn't have to think hard about it. The only thing that could have derailed it was the lead's haircut.
