If he'd loved another nour, who are basically unkillable (he's been looking for a way to die for over 200 years without success), that lover would still be around and he would probably not be this suicidal even if he was abandoned (but we know from the trailer his love is dead and buried, or at least that's what he says to James.)

I imagine trying to turn someone and losing them must be so much more traumatic than just losing them, right? Not that the other one isn't enough to make someone suicidal, but blaming yourself...

Another thing - Something about Ken having a nour lover that died just bothers me. If the nour-killing killer Ken's currently after has been around for so long they killed his pair, why would Ken only go after them recently? To me, this implies that the killer only just started killing (at least around this town) a few years ago.

And though I guess there might also be some other way a nour can die, Ken should've found out about it in over 200 years and over 200 attempts at dying, shouldn't he? He seems very thorough and is clearly a capable investigator, so he must done his best to find a way to die, and he couldn't... How would this lover of his have died if there's no other way of dying other than the nour-killer, and how can the nour-killer be over 200 years old and local if Ken only started going after them a few years ago?

That's why I'm going towards the he loved a human and the human died instead of becoming a nour, thing, whether he tried to turn them (and supposing that's possible at all) or not.

James left when he saw Ken's aura get colorful, so they're safe [?]

I'm not going for the soulmate things until they explicitly say it on the show (I don't trust synopsis lol), but going by the four episodes and the trailers, I believe Ken was speaking from experience when he confronted Prae about loving a nour and wanting to become a nour herself.

I think that might have been what happened to him 200+ years ago: either he fell in love with a nour who somehow died; or Ken was already a nour, and fell in love with a human he tried to turn (however making a new nour goes in this lore) - but the human died.

So talking to her about made him realize how far gone he was about James already, and he asked for James to be sent back not only so he could protect him, but so he wouldn't have to risk losing someone he cares about again.

His acting was fantastic in this scene.

For sure. And talking to Prae about her losing her lover didn't help, either, especially since I think he's lost another lover before - and that's what made him suicidal for the past 200ish years. (There's an implication in one of the trailers, but I'll leave it vague.)

I think there's one nour who can kill other nours with fire, and it's the same one who killed Jame's father a few years ago. If Prae has been a nour for that long, and killed that many people, she'd be able to control her powers better.

IMO, the nour-killing killer kidnapped both her and Tee. He set Tee on fire, and her arm caught on fire while she was close to him, but she didn't do anything particularly sus. She's just trying to hide that she's also a nour OR that she knows that he was, because she doesn't want to be entangled with the whole Mint (the first dead girl, Tee was accused of killing her) situation or suspected of stealing blood from the hospital (like she did in episode 3, when Chita caught her and she threatened him. She could've been stealing it for herself or for Tee, in both cases, to feed)

Such a great actor for such a deep character

Soooo... I'm a long time fan of an RPG called Vampire - The Masquerade, and some vampires in it can read auras. I've played so much I actually remember most of its color correspondences, and I always think about those when watching this show. I'm not saying it's the exact same here, but certain colors are commonly associated with certain feelings and states of mind in occult traditions and folklore around the world, so perhaps a bunch of them could match?

Like, in the game, vampire auras are pale - here, they're greyish. Rainbow-y moving colors there are about being in a frenzy, out of control - here they seem to be about hunger or nour powers being used. There, red indicates anger, orange is afraid, pink is compassionate, dark green is envious or jealous, light green is distrustful, "usual" green is obsessed... Perhaps we can take some ideas from those?

Agreed about the flow, or pacing, or something like that. They had too much stuff to stuff in an episode this time around (?)

I thought Nin was Ji's nephew, not brother. >_> I misremembered. He lost his girlfriend, Tee was his and Rain's friend, and they're both doing their best to pretend nothing's happening... I'm not sure it's working, though. I hope both of them give themselves a chance to grieve the way they really need.

I love how most of the characters are observant, not just about their jobs, but about the feelings people around them have. First, there was the cute cop lady last episode, and now James advised Ji about Chita... Sure, it's kinda invasive if you look at it like that, but I enjoy how the characters push their coworkers and friends to tell other people how they feel and be more open. (My friend group IRL is like that, too.) It's particularly refreshing when one's used to seeing a million misunderstandings in these shows!

Btw, I saw some people complaining about how fast their feelings are developing, but between James's arrival, the girl's death, and Tee's death, over a month has seemed to pass. It's clearer when characters point it out, like Ji saying things like "you've been working together for a while now" to James at the funeral. It's not too fast for feelings, but the push and pull from Ken is making James confused and annoyed. I can't blame him for that, though the way he dealt with it irritates me. :P

So talking to Prae about that triggered his protection instinct (he'd already shown signs of it trying repeatedly get James out of danger and off the investigation) I think he's actually really starting to care for him, romantically.

James likes Ken and is falling for him but trying to take it slowly - over a month has probably passed, though it's only been made clear by characters saying things like "you've been working together for a while now" (Doctor Ji to James at the funeral). James is confused by the push and pull and doesn't understand why Ken wants him gone (safe).

The case was closed, officially. Perhaps by a nour higher up trying to keep nour as an urban legend - or by Ken, trying to hide his nour-killing nour investigation. Maybe we'll find out. But James knows there's something wrong, and even told it to Phong and the other cop this episode.

Don't worry too much. A lot of things that might seem "confusing" are that way by design, not by flaw. They'll explain more when it's time. But there's a lot of stuff we can assume if we pay close attention, so if you have any specific questions, I can try to help.

IMO, the colorful one indicates nour powers/abilities being used - and/or blood thirst. When a nour is just quietly existing, it's grey, and normal human's aura colors vary according to what they're feeling or doing, which is how he knows when people are lying.

I don't think we're ever gonna get an in-show chart or something, and James himself looks like he's been learning what means what on the go...

Agreed. I think it's likely that he's recently learned to associate that weird type of aura with nour and that fit the the puzzle about his father's death.

I did because I remember seeing him in Revamp, but I didn't know anything other than that~
