She's The Man but Make it Chinese
no matter how many times I watch this drama it gets funnier with each watch. Think Amanda Bynes' She's The Man but Chinese Mini-Romance Drama. Finally, they made the girl actually look like a guy. The FLs acting was hilarious and the MLs crisis and ummm... special videos that he was watching was hilarious. Of course it isn't a chinese drama if there isn't at least one CEO, one doctor, borderline questionable sex, and of course a grandchild-obsessed parent. The hilariousness of this drama aside, imagine how traumatic of a life the FL led that she always had to pretend to be a boy. Then her mother fell into a coma and she was shoved into a literal vipers' nest. The grandfather looked so sweet I was shocked that he was behind the mother's "insemination." I use the word very loosely. I am curious as to who the real father of the FL is but I guess that isn't important to the storyline and it is a *short* drama.

Ambiguous Ending
Okay. So I get that he really liked her. That is okay. What isnt okay is that he hid his brother's murder of her entire family. He could have allied himself with her to take down his brother but instead he chose to hide the truth and work opposite her. Perhaps that could have changed their ending. However, prior to all of this he took away her family, job, and personal freedom. Yes, he offered his life for her but it was all a situation that he started. It was nice to see a FL who didnt cave and wasnt weak. She chose revenge and helped another woman find closure and get revenge as well. I love seeing women support other women.
Everyone acted very well. I see people complaining about the lack of chemistry. There wasnt supposed to be. It was a one-sided obsession disguised as love. She didnt like him. She only stayed for revenge. The acting was done very well.
My main issue was with the ending it was ambiguous at best and left hanging for a potential second season at worst. Honestly, i dont think this story needs another season. She got her revenge and moved on.

A lot of Mosquitoes in here...
Okay, I know there was a story line here but woah was everyone good looking here. Also, usually I detest the ex that cheated but this one was so dopey I dont think he fully figured out what was going on even at the end of the show.... In other news I liked how the FL's character was able to handle her own but also confident and trusting enough to let her man handle things for her as well. There was a lot of positive trust and communication here... and bugs. lots of bug bites... they should do something about that...Was this review helpful to you?

Easy, light, and funny watch
Hilarious plot about a girl pretending to be a prince in the palace. Trying his/her very best to not be in the race for thr throne only to accidentally end up front and center in the race. One of my favorite bits from this show is the relationship between the mother and daughter/FL. Prior to the invention of vaccines most children didnt live past 5 so they held no value and the parents didnt get attached to them until they knew they would survive. Generally this was in their teen years and because of age maturity/timing it was also when they got married.Point being: parent and child relationships weren't established well back then so it was nice seeing a Queen/mother who realized it was not her child but took her in and genuinely loved her anyway. Rant done. This was a nice relaxing one.

Storyline felt Off but amazing otherwise
A revenge story where the FL actually took everyone down despite the fact that they ML seemed to be a genuinely nice person. I also liked that she took out the brother as well knowing that he could have saved her father and didnt. Even the reunion with her bio father and brother was done slowly (off camera) and respectful to the father who gave up everything to raise her after he found her. Overall, the drama was done well, however, the end felt a bit unresolved and there were parts of the drama that felt kinda choppy. I usually get mad when the FL ends up with the ML but Lu Dadong did an amazing job making you feel bad for the character and evoking remorse. Great job!Was this review helpful to you?

Good Acting and Chemistry
After her fiance, family, and childhood friend says he wants an open marriage the FL is broken hearted and starts a relationship with the ML who is the fiances best friend. There was a lot of hate on the female leads acting but I found her demure and meek characteristics fit the character here. She has no family and no backing. She's a doctor and earns a salary so she can keep a roof over her head but being able to financially support yourself is not the same as having no living relatives in the world. This leads me to the next bit. Yes, I get why she is reluctant to officially break off the engagement. It has nothing to do with the fiance but to do with his grandfather who took her in when she had no one and nothing. His grandfather is the only family she has. She's emotionally and physically done with the fiance (or ex-fiance at this point). Moving onto the main lead. Liang Si Wei really shone in this character and you feel the chemistry coming off the screen. Many of the scenes felt like he was coaxing a kitten (head and chin scratches) TBH I was surprised there was no cat involved. Overall, a nice fluffy drama without too much green tea and no ridiculous kidnappings. Was this review helpful to you?
Great Pairing
I know these two leads are together in real life but they're in A LOT of shows together and eventually it becomes a mush of the same plot lines and tropes and the same two faces. Yes, they have good chemistry but again, they are together in real life so that is kinda expected. That being said I really liked them in this drama. I liked how unconventional the storyline is and how they pair up in this specific drama. I get where the father is coming from but the daughter deserves happiness just as much. I want to write hoping to see them in another drama together but I think we've seen the two of them in enough dramas together. Give someone else a shot. Was this review helpful to you?

Chemistry was there but not the script
Okay so he was obssesed with her because she was *not* obsessed with him. I think he was so intense with her because she was pushing him away and he was panicking. Someone once said "trust is the only currency in a relationship..." subconsciously he knew she was hiding something and he was scared he was going to lose her over it.While I dont appreciate the overuse/misuse of mental health disorders in chinese media they didnt butcher it entirely. That being said it would be nice if they put out more positive mental health aspects in shows.
Also, the actors/actresses did a really good job consindering how lacking the script was. Ive seen other better written out versions but the actors didnt have half as much chemistry as these two. Hope to see them together in another drama!

Absolutely Terrible
I think the fact that I actually finished this show was more of a punishment then anything else. It was slow, the script was messy, the acting was a bit awkward, and the inconsistencies with the palace and the overall plot made it miserable to sit through. That being said, the only saving grace was the one scene where the ML and FL fight and the FL cries that he tried to sell her.Overall, I found the characters annoying and inconsistent throughout the series. All in all, watch the one scene on YouTube and skip the rest.

She's eloquent and with taste, she will also punch you in the face.
An electric performance by Chen Si and Lu Lu Lu, these two waltzed through the series like it was a virtual chessboard and the chaos left behind by them was simply a pause in between sets. This is the republican era version of this storyline What A Good Girl with Ke Chun and Yu Yin. They are each uniquely different and compelling in their own way. I liked how you see the FLs redemption arc at the end. Despite the terrible family she was raised in, she arranged for her city to be saved from these evil people. I was genuinely scared she wasn't going to make it and it was going to be a Snowdrop trauma all over again. TG for besties. The only reason it didnt get a ten was because I felt there were too many loose ends at the end of the show. Why comment so much on his family and even meet the dad several times if you aren't going to follow up with her meeting them? Furthermore, while in real life she would likely not have ever found out about her real family, this is a cdrama. She's supposed to find them after at least a dramatic kidnapping or amnesia incident.

An Emotionally Charged Performance by Two Talented Actors
An Emotionally Charged Performance by Two Talented Actors. Just the beginning scene with the painting at the wedding was a great hook! The actor who played the creepy uncle NAILED it. My overall favorite scene is when the ML is asking if she ever loved him and then crying to the FL to love him. He captured the scene so well it completely made up for the hideous dress the FL was wearing. Was this review helpful to you?

Chen Si could Act next to a Potato and make it shine
This is a Republican era retelling of the Guo Fen Ye storyline. What sets it apart is the spicy spice chemistry between the leads: Chen Si and Liu Xi Yu. Im not discounting the FL but I'm pretty sure Chen Si could make a drama where the other lead was a potato and still make it amazing. I also liked the portrayal of the brothers ex-fiance and the god-mother. In most of the other versions I felt their characters were too, two dimensional and served no other purpose other than to drive the plot. While I understand it needs a certain aspect of that because its a short and a vertical drama, i feel the characters didn't get justice or their time to shine. It was nice seeing that glimmer here. Overall, it was done very well although I would have liked more progression and development of their relationship but hey... it's a short. It needs to be... short. Was this review helpful to you?

A Masterpiece
The FLs sister is forced to her death after being assaulted by chaebols. She schemes her way into elite circles using a pure and innocent image and takes down everyone from the inside. In a time when we are still waiting for justice in so many cases like Yu Menglong its a bittersweet drama to watch. The leads had great chemistry and the acting and directing was aces down to the side characters. Here is to hoping those who lost their lives to injustice get justice as this character did.

Major Obsession and Spicy Factor
In this twisting and enjoyable thriller a young girl navigates her step-brothers obsession over her after sending him to prison for 3 years. while it never confirms if that was a misunderstanding it takes a deep dive as the ML is the second in command in a local gang that had killed his dad a decade earlier. During a fight for a bid over land the FL discovers her fiance is nothing short of evil (despite being a cop) and that the mafia ML stepbrother is kind and with a good conscious. Overall, an amazing show. My only negative review is concern over the wardrobe budget on this show. The ML Ma Xiaoyu seemed to have lost all his shirts... not that anyone is complaining. I would highly recommend the stylist for any further shows he appears in.Was this review helpful to you?

Ummm... what age was her brain at?
No. No. And no. Who has a mature adult relationship with someone who has the mind of a child? I dont care who you are. It's a form of pedophilia. I feel as if the other two lives were just the writers trying to make up for that mistake or maybe I'm still stuck on that point. The two leads acted very well and had great chemistry. I believe they had another period drama together this year.
