but why is it called Stealing pet?

The ML and FL were very well casted and played their individual roles well. The music consisted of the same 3 songs chinese short dramas play during their videos. I'm imagining it's a licensing issue. The costume director did a good job and I liked the outfits.
My issue with the show mostly stems from the writing and lack of continuity on the directors part. The FLs personality did a 180 in the last ten minutes of the show. No one, especially someone who suffered that much mental abuse and torture can change overnight. Another thing I was confused about was whether or not they were able to save the baby. Likely a language barrier/skewed viewing issue but confused all the same.
The stepbrother has zero character written other than being a step for the FL to springboard off of. The father was horrid and deserved a far worse ending than he got.

Wish I Could Erase the Plot

Title: The Only Soul I Couldn't Erase
Genre/Year: Romance drama
ML: He Jian Qi
FL:
2ML: Wang Yilei
Rating: 6

⚠️ Review:
I never understand why people force others into marriages they dont want to be in. Is it a dominant/control problem? Possibly. How else would she last 7 years of being treated this way? I dont agree with the 2ML giving her information away at the end. She worked so hard to get away from him and he just sent her back without even asking her (assuming he didn't.)
I thinknthe most powerful scene here is when he finally sees the bathroom He Jian Qi has a way of breaking your heart through the screen that is incomparable to most acting professionals.
I would love to have ranked this higher but the plot had too many holes and honestly wasnt that interesting. Also, whoever dressed the 2FL needs a job change asap.ASAP.

Great cast, directing, and storyline

Did not expect such a complex plot based on the summary. However, the actual plot was well done and I appreciated how despite all the "proof" her coworkers stood up for her. It was nice having a boy's mother portrayed as wicked or stuck up. Honestly, I was half expecting the mom to offer money to the FL not to leave her son. LMAO.
The ML went through so many torturous years all because of a promise to a dying woman. As a mom, I get it. As a human with morals what she did was ethically wrong. She knew he was a kind and upright person and that her son was not and used it to bind them together and keep her company afloat. I wish I could feel bad for the son/ex-boyfriend but he doesn't have enough functioning brain cells for that.
Also, it could be the version and platform I watched skipped it out but there was no follow up on the dad after he grabbed the ex-boyfriends hand to restrain him.
Regardless, I really enjoyed this drama. Definitely going on my rewatch list!

Parent's Love

⚠️ Review:
He's an idiot. Apparently this idiocy was hereditary and he got it from his dad. That being said what the dad did to the mother and the ML was pretty terrible. The mom of the ML ruined her whole life for her son and a man that love money and a rich wife more than her. He spoiled his daughter to the point of her not understanding the value of human life. Whereas this FL is the exact opposite. Her parents gave her a structured and ethical upbringing and led by example. The differences in their upbringing is showcased by house they reacted to hitting "bumps in the road" during their college admissions. The ML had a meltdown, his sister paid her way out, and the FL worked harder and smarter.
Overall, I think the real theme of this drama was that the love of parents can transcend time and space.

Good Job

⚠️ Review:
I've seen differing opinions about this role and the FL but I think she did a very good job. The "falling into a book" is an overused trope within Chinese media, however they did a good job here. I am not a fan of the roles that the ML usually takes on and his acting style (not my personal preference - nothing personal with the actual actor) but he did a very good job here and definitely stepped out of his comfort zone/roles he is usually plays and it paid off.
There is a 2026 remake of this with different leads and it is also good although hard to find.

Relaxing Watch

This was a relaxing watch with a side of eye candy. I'm a huge fan of everything Wen GeGe and this was no different. They had an almost visceral chemistry that transcended language, continents, and screens. I really hope to see these two work together again!
One of my favorite parts of this show was the beautiful scenic "grasslands." Although, Im not sure what Grasslands are, Im assuming its like the Outback or Central/South US. I think Ma Xiaoyu might have a remake of this exact story but I could be wrong. Either way, good job all around!

She's The Man but Make it Chinese

no matter how many times I watch this drama it gets funnier with each watch. Think Amanda Bynes' She's The Man but Chinese Mini-Romance Drama. Finally, they made the girl actually look like a guy. The FLs acting was hilarious and the MLs crisis and ummm... special videos that he was watching was hilarious. Of course it isn't a chinese drama if there isn't at least one CEO, one doctor, borderline questionable sex, and of course a grandchild-obsessed parent.
The hilariousness of this drama aside, imagine how traumatic of a life the FL led that she always had to pretend to be a boy. Then her mother fell into a coma and she was shoved into a literal vipers' nest. The grandfather looked so sweet I was shocked that he was behind the mother's "insemination." I use the word very loosely. I am curious as to who the real father of the FL is but I guess that isn't important to the storyline and it is a *short* drama.

Ambiguous Ending

Okay. So I get that he really liked her. That is okay. What isnt okay is that he hid his brother's murder of her entire family. He could have allied himself with her to take down his brother but instead he chose to hide the truth and work opposite her. Perhaps that could have changed their ending. However, prior to all of this he took away her family, job, and personal freedom. Yes, he offered his life for her but it was all a situation that he started.
It was nice to see a FL who didnt cave and wasnt weak. She chose revenge and helped another woman find closure and get revenge as well. I love seeing women support other women.
Everyone acted very well. I see people complaining about the lack of chemistry. There wasnt supposed to be. It was a one-sided obsession disguised as love. She didnt like him. She only stayed for revenge. The acting was done very well.
My main issue was with the ending it was ambiguous at best and left hanging for a potential second season at worst. Honestly, i dont think this story needs another season. She got her revenge and moved on.

A lot of Mosquitoes in here...

Okay, I know there was a story line here but woah was everyone good looking here. Also, usually I detest the ex that cheated but this one was so dopey I dont think he fully figured out what was going on even at the end of the show.... In other news I liked how the FL's character was able to handle her own but also confident and trusting enough to let her man handle things for her as well. There was a lot of positive trust and communication here... and bugs. lots of bug bites... they should do something about that...

Easy, light, and funny watch

Hilarious plot about a girl pretending to be a prince in the palace. Trying his/her very best to not be in the race for thr throne only to accidentally end up front and center in the race. One of my favorite bits from this show is the relationship between the mother and daughter/FL. Prior to the invention of vaccines most children didnt live past 5 so they held no value and the parents didnt get attached to them until they knew they would survive. Generally this was in their teen years and because of age maturity/timing it was also when they got married.
Point being: parent and child relationships weren't established well back then so it was nice seeing a Queen/mother who realized it was not her child but took her in and genuinely loved her anyway. Rant done. This was a nice relaxing one.

Storyline felt Off but amazing otherwise

A revenge story where the FL actually took everyone down despite the fact that they ML seemed to be a genuinely nice person. I also liked that she took out the brother as well knowing that he could have saved her father and didnt. Even the reunion with her bio father and brother was done slowly (off camera) and respectful to the father who gave up everything to raise her after he found her. Overall, the drama was done well, however, the end felt a bit unresolved and there were parts of the drama that felt kinda choppy. I usually get mad when the FL ends up with the ML but Lu Dadong did an amazing job making you feel bad for the character and evoking remorse. Great job!

Good Acting and Chemistry

After her fiance, family, and childhood friend says he wants an open marriage the FL is broken hearted and starts a relationship with the ML who is the fiances best friend. There was a lot of hate on the female leads acting but I found her demure and meek characteristics fit the character here. She has no family and no backing. She's a doctor and earns a salary so she can keep a roof over her head but being able to financially support yourself is not the same as having no living relatives in the world. This leads me to the next bit. Yes, I get why she is reluctant to officially break off the engagement. It has nothing to do with the fiance but to do with his grandfather who took her in when she had no one and nothing. His grandfather is the only family she has. She's emotionally and physically done with the fiance (or ex-fiance at this point). Moving onto the main lead. Liang Si Wei really shone in this character and you feel the chemistry coming off the screen. Many of the scenes felt like he was coaxing a kitten (head and chin scratches) TBH I was surprised there was no cat involved. Overall, a nice fluffy drama without too much green tea and no ridiculous kidnappings.

Great Pairing

I know these two leads are together in real life but they're in A LOT of shows together and eventually it becomes a mush of the same plot lines and tropes and the same two faces. Yes, they have good chemistry but again, they are together in real life so that is kinda expected. That being said I really liked them in this drama. I liked how unconventional the storyline is and how they pair up in this specific drama. I get where the father is coming from but the daughter deserves happiness just as much. I want to write hoping to see them in another drama together but I think we've seen the two of them in enough dramas together. Give someone else a shot.

Chemistry was there but not the script

Okay so he was obssesed with her because she was *not* obsessed with him. I think he was so intense with her because she was pushing him away and he was panicking. Someone once said "trust is the only currency in a relationship..." subconsciously he knew she was hiding something and he was scared he was going to lose her over it.
While I dont appreciate the overuse/misuse of mental health disorders in chinese media they didnt butcher it entirely. That being said it would be nice if they put out more positive mental health aspects in shows.
Also, the actors/actresses did a really good job consindering how lacking the script was. Ive seen other better written out versions but the actors didnt have half as much chemistry as these two. Hope to see them together in another drama!

Absolutely Terrible

I think the fact that I actually finished this show was more of a punishment then anything else. It was slow, the script was messy, the acting was a bit awkward, and the inconsistencies with the palace and the overall plot made it miserable to sit through. That being said, the only saving grace was the one scene where the ML and FL fight and the FL cries that he tried to sell her.
Overall, I found the characters annoying and inconsistent throughout the series. All in all, watch the one scene on YouTube and skip the rest.
