How will you operate the gear shift tho without your other hand???
Oh, come on, next you will be questioning how a heart transplant patient can be working as a teacher in a village only a few months after receiving the transplant... (heh, insert side-eye, whistling emoji here)

But I still liked the show a lot, over all.

It's funny how that song can be interpreted differently depending on who sung it, right? I like all 3 versions…
Very true. I think I'm partial because not only do I love Aye's voice on this ballad, I feel it is Torfun's song, at the end of the day. I mean, I feel the song lyrics represent Torfun and her hopes and wishes. So when Aye (who plays Torfun) sings it, everything comes together for me, because Torfun's life is where the love story began.

Just popping in after reflecting on the show for a few days. Overall, I enjoyed it. There were so many things to like about this show:

--The story itself, beautifully adapted from the novel
--The cinematography and location
--The overall performances, especially Mix's performance, which gave me all the feels
--The direction, which to me came over as thoughtful and intelligent

If I had to give the Most Valuable Player award--though it's tough to single out just one person--I would give it to the Music Director/Composer. There is a lot of music in this series. A lot. Just count the individual pieces, large and small, seriously. And all of it worked.

An otherwise simple moment of Tian alone in the family kitchen, preparing to move on with his life, clinking his coffee mug against the one across the table--the one that his beloved Chief will never be there to drink out of--becomes an important and poignant milestone thanks to the musical accompaniment.

And the main theme (I prefer the cover sung by the actress who played Torfun, Aye Sarunchana)--is just perfect.

So, yeah, that's it.

Title A Tale of Thousand Stars Spoiler
Just finished watching. I loved the series, as a whole. Whoever composed and conducted the music for this series…
I knew exactly what the anticipated kiss would be like. (You did, too, didn't you?

I loved how Tian and PhuPha both wrote in Torfun's diary!

Totally unnecessary and irritating scene: Nam's wedding, when PhuPha returns to the reception after leaving, but Tian's back is to him--and neither of PhuPha's 2 colleagues, who are talking to Tian and kind of facing PhuPha's direction, see Phu--and Phu doesn't know that the guy over there is Tian, so he leaves again. I had a visceral reaction, I was so irritated by that scene.

I thought the final scene, where PhuPha goes to Pa Pan Dau cliff and sees Tian, was awkward. I mean, they are finally back together, and they don't act like it, to me. I realize that maybe it's a bit weird after 2 years of being apart, but what about a brotherly hug and "You're back!" or something like that? It was just off, IMO.

Just finished watching. I loved the series, as a whole.
Whoever composed and conducted the music for this series did a stellar job. Music can help create or enhance the mood of a scene, and the music in this show was just so on point. And if you really listen, there was a lot of music, both theme music and incidental. So, kudos!

I thought Mix did an exceptional job in this series.

On a fun note, we could alternately name this show "Tale of 1000 Sighs". And 950 of them would be PhuPha's.

The rest of my comments are in the spoiler below.

Watching Khaotung in Tale of 1000 Stars, I get a definite feeling that he was probably considered for the role of Tian, which went to Mix. I'm fine with Mix; I think he's done a good job. It's just that when I watch the Tian/Longtae scenes, Khaotung is good enough to make me think that he was in the running for the part of Tian. JMO, I could be wrong.

Title A Tale of Thousand Stars Spoiler
==Part 1==
Very good. Mix is not quite my vision of what Tian would look like, but he is doing a great and heartfelt job in this role and I'm glad he was selected.

==Parts 2 & 3=
-- Too many misunderstandings/miscommunications, aka plot devices. It was annoying. Why does the doctor have to keep intervening to bring these two lovebirds to their senses?
-- I wonder if the actor playing Longtae auditioned (and was considered) for the role of Tian. I bet he did/was.
-- I love how Tian is teaching the kids about gardening and cooking food. You know, those things they aren't learning in their own homes, hehe.
-- In the preview for part 4, I appreciate how our PhuPha apparently will not be so depressed that he can't still nicely groom his Beard of Loneliness & Despair.

==Part 4==
-- Some lovely moments. Tian trying to count 1000 stars was chef's kiss.
-- Still not a fan of a character (PhuPha) being asked a direct question (how do you feel about me?) and not giving a direct answer, but instead saying something else...
-- Also do not like the trope of one person making the decision for the other person. (Phupha deciding what is best for Tian, instead of discussing it with him directly.)
-- Glad to see Mix is still sponsoring the show. (Thank you, Mix!))

Fangirls always saw them together and assumed Gene was the driver because he was driving the car. They now know…
Thanks for confirming, that's what I thought. It's just that sometimes I see something translated from Thai to English and I wonder if the translation is accurate or if something else is meant.

What does this hashtag mean: #GeneIsNotTheDriver
Does it mean that Gene is not the "chauffeur", but rather a significant other?
On Lovely Writer Mar 25, 2021
Okay, you know that scene where Gene is crushed when he watches Nubsib (as Kinn) kissing Aoey (as Namcha) in Bad Engineer? This is exactly how I think Director Tee would have directed Mew in TharnType S2 during Thorn's proposal to his girlfriend.
I posted then that Tee would have shown the proposal through Tharn's eyes, and we would have experienced Tharn's pain at seeing, right in front of him, the very thing he wants but probably can't have. Now, having seen this scene with Gene, I'm more certain than ever that Tee would have turned that lackluster TTTS S2 scene (as well as others) into something meaningful.

Just watched the first ep of this. The show needs 98% less sound effects and 80% less random scene music, and…
The show is good and actually the tone becomes more serious as you get to the half-way point. The sound effects are reduced, as @strawberryjams mentioned, but there is still a little too much background music for my taste. (The background music is appropriate to the tone of each scene. It's just that for some scenes, NO music might be a better choice.)

Togawa was not bisexual. He just fell in love with Shima, which happened to be a guy
Okay, thank you for clarifying that.

When they had an ad for that face mask for the series in the show while really it was an ad for this actual show..…
You are brilliant. I totally missed that! The "meta" continues...

i enjoy this series and i love Gene, he really stands out! but i don't really like Kao's acting... i don't know…
It might be the acting, but honestly, we don't know much about Nubsib. We don't understand what is motivating him. Kao's character is just very low-key, secretive, and not really showing his hand yet.

Up, on the other hand, has a lot more material to work with--his character is openly struggling to write those NC scenes, he's nervous about his attraction to Sib and their interactions together. Maybe we will see more acting range from Kao when he has more to do than just be secretive?

Also: I do not speak Thai, so when Kao or Up speak, I do not know if they sound natural or like amateur actors.

I don't think that was child labor per say. It was more of a community project for all. It wasn't just the kids…
Perhaps. I don't know if these viewers are super young or just very sheltered and, either way, not knowledgeable about history and the real world.

All I know is that the show was trying to portray the village as a place where everyone--adults and kids--pitches in to help the village to survive. But all that many viewers got was "How horrible, forcing children to work, romanticizing child labor, it's terrible".

When I was growing up, a lot of kids where I lived had to work to help the family out. At various times, I and my siblings worked, and we also went to school, and we also did chores. No one thought it was horrible. We were not damaged by having to work to help the family out.

That's life for millions of people around the world.

Thank you, Booklover_95, for being the voice of reason and sanity! How can so many viewers be so unaware that this is how life is (and was) for people in small towns and villages in many places? No one's romanticizing anything. It's just showing how small communities have to pull together to survive.
Sadly, many SJWs won't comprehend what you are saying. Thoughtful, objective analysis, informed by actual knowledge of historical fact, is not in their wheelhouse. Looking for grievances (even unfounded ones) that they can wring their hands over is what they do best.

Yes, he was messing with him, but I still thought it was a bit mean. Green giants need snacks, too!

Random comments:

* First thing's first: Earth Pirapat is a dreamboat.

* Kids are learning really random things in school, okay.

* "Hey everyone, let's do a hand massage". And I know right where this scene is going.

* Hand massage - "Switch your pairs". I'm thinking "Okay, switch who is doing the massaging and who is receiving". But no, Tian switches to the other kid.

* Tian and Phupha staring at each other during hand massage. These 2 actors enjoyed the stare-down, didn't they? Also, did I mention how handsome Earth is?

* Tian to Longtae: "It's gonna be a long night." Phupha: / insert jealous emoji here /

* No snacks for Phupha? That was really mean, TBH. Why, Tian, why?

* I had to suspend disbelief more than usual in this episode, as far as the heart transplant is concerned. Mog Nam, what are you thinking, keeping it quiet still? And Longtae - When someone says "Torfun died, I have her heart", I feel like you should be a little more gobsmacked. Also, you should be asking to see scars. I'm just saying. Because that's what I would do. Also, now I'm not sure when or if Tian will tell the villagers that Torfun is dead.

* Does Longtae have the diary now?

This show is still delivering. And can we say it's wholesome?

Watched him (as Tul) interact with the Mix (playing as Tian) in ToTS. Wow, his interactions with Mix were so natural! Excellent acting. There isn't a lot of time for character development if you're a support or side character--you have to *be* your character completely, right from the start. This guy did that, I'm impressed.

I just started watching ToTS yesterday, and I've watched all 4 of the eps that have been broadcast. I came here to see what y'all were thinking about this show (I really like it!), and a lot of viewers are wringing their hands over some peeping toms!

I'm guessing it's a village tradition, like chivarees (which have mostly died out in the U.S.) and other similar activities. I think in ToTS, the couple would have known ahead of time that this might be happening. If they were really bothered, I'm guessing they could have found a way to cover their windows. And perhaps that's why Phupah showed up--he also knew what would be happening and wanted to discourage it.

Wasn't there a time in some European countries where appointed folks waited for the newly wed royals to complete the consummation, and then they checked the bedsheets? (Or maybe the bride, I'm not sure.) I don't think they actually watched, but I could be wrong.

TLDR: So there are peeping toms. Get over it.
