There's also weeks/months time gaps between all the episodes, so some relationship development happens that aren't shown

ML is the perfect charicature of a bully. Complete Ahole to everyone then complete coward as soon as he feels even slightly threatened. He also looks mid 20s and mid 40s at the same time to me lol.

I think the intro graphics in ep 1 said he's 33, and she's 28 IIRC. It's an extremely realistic age gap in the drama. Even their real age gap isn't bad imho

I agree. That whole story line was so poorly done. If she was going to wind up doing the self marriage thing anyways, then it made his character pointless, especially with how they ended it. It should have been 1 of 3 plot lines imo..

1) She realizes she likes him and wants a relationship with him and gives up on the self marriage thing.

2) She realizes after dating him for a bit that she can't see herself in a relationship, ends it and does the self marriage thing.

3) He never exists in the story line, she gets her parents to realize she'll never get married and does the self marriage thing.

Instead, they decided to do option 4, which is where she's in a relationship with him, but married to herself. Which makes no sense and completely ruins any character growth she could have had. If anything, it actually was the opposite

I've never heard of it either before this drama, not my normal genre, but it's definitely korean lore, according to my googling. The whole 1000 year thing to become a dragon and snake-like serpent thing is from the lore, but they weren't known for possessing humans, and were actually good spirits. The possessing thing is creative for the show and not lore

I find it weird that she's really young, but all her larger roles, at least that I've seen, is her being like middle management and higher up than people at least 6 years older than her. She's also always more knowledgeable and mature than people like 10 years older than her. Like, she looks her age and visually would fit entry level jobs since she looks fresh out of college

I took it as she had severe PPD, to the point that she hated Byeol, and hated the fact that Eun Ho was giving time to Byeol. The entire reason they divorced was because she didn't want to be a mother anymore due to the PPD, or possibly at all and only had Byeol because of Eun Ho. Not like a he forced it, but more like she got pregnant and he was ecstatic about it. They were also a really young couple and she probably wasn't ready for it all

It was never explicitly stated, but implied she committed suicide. DW never asked his brother-in-law to get a divorce, anyone can get the insurance, even single people and widow(er)s. Him telling his BIL to get the insurance was for 2 reasons: 1. He gets a desperately needed sale and 2. It was a way for him to convince his BIL to start living life and date again.

Her death was the catalyst that made him so divorce prone. Since his last conversation with his sister was him disapproving her getting a divorce, she saw no way out and no one on her side basically. That trauma happened changed his views on divorce and made him who he now is.

ML actually even encouraged their relationship a couple times, he shipped the 2nd couple

Yeah, ML gave 2ML his blessing in like ep 5 or something, he felt 0 connection to his ex-wife any more, so it didn't bother him.

Officially, they started dating in ep 9 or 10. They were basically a couple starting around ep 6 IIRC

I had a feeling it was heading that way, then they introduced Jae Il's first love and that cemented it for me lol

I was expecting this to be good, but it honestly exceeded all my expectations. 9.5/10
