maybe not bad writing....how about inconsistent writing. Some characters are all over the place and not in sense that they are morally gray, rather they're actions seem out of character.
Nepotism at it's finest. No real business person would hire someone for a clothing company in a managing position if their only credentials are a high school degree, stock market experience and the purchase of ONE building.
That's like hiring someone as a doctor who was previously a kindergarten teacher (both respectable fields but the skillset is vastly different)
Some of the worst parenting. I am a petty bitch. I hoped he would have just put his middle finger in that sad excuse for a stepfather's face and said "fuck you" and left
I get that partially he needed the influence of her family when her sister took off he went to her. I also get…
I can totally see that especially that she was basically a new addition to his plan. Honestly I kinda prefer that her happiness isn't his goal. Maybe I struggle more with the fact that he overestimated her to handle with the situation and underestimated her that she would taking those more extreme measures like posing for the kidnapper.
I remember thinking very early on that this drama reminds me of Flower of Evil especially tone wise. I saw a lot of comments that they feel it's totally different. But I still feel they have a similar vibe and considering that we have a ML that is quite calculating (maybe not as emotionless as the one in FoE) I still see it.
Maybe I should just accept the fact that BSE's EQ is way lower then I hoped it would beπ

Yeah that I can understand. I think it was negligence to have the cold behaviour on top of the contract. Who would think you can ask for something that is prohibited in the contract especially with someone who doesn't seem to care. I think that is my main issue. I get the his intention and thought process. But I find it hard to believe that he didn't think he would create a situation that seems inescapable for someone else. He thinks she could just ask for a divorce. She has written documentation that she can't. For me that is a massive oversight.

Thank you for the detailed answer. I totally forgot about the arranged marriage. Maybe I am the problem because I don't see those things as a legitimate reason followed by those actions. I mean unless the contract was drafted by his parents and forced him to have HHJ sign it, she couldn't get out of the marriage even if she wanted to. It's crazy how comparable this marriage is to imprisonment but even prisoners have a sentence with the amount of time they have to serve. Here only he knew the marriage would end but she didn't. I don't know I can see his intention and it might be a noble one but for me personally intentions and actions don't really match.
Can someone give me a different angle? Because I am struggling to understand SE's reasoning to marry HJ. See below
I get that partially he needed the influence of her family when her sister took off he went to her. I also get that he saw her as a prisoner of her own family and wanted to "free" her from that hold or at least get her out of there. And you made your peace with the fact that she would want to leave you or maybe you were even trying to provoke her urge to leave
However...
The marriage contract imprisoned her. She couldn't ask for a divorce or sue for it. Also with your family you added more prison wards. And your behaviour didn't create a safe space if that's what you wanted to provide.
Am I missing something? Is this just another case of major miscommunication?
