I watched way too many makjang because....My theory is that Euan O and Seong Jade are actually siblings or at least half siblings (or to make it the double twist it just appears that way and SJ is adopted) which is why his mother having to observe EO and tries to meet her by "accident". Meanwhile Ji Hyeok knows that they are related which is why he is blocking SJ from making a move. How does he know? Well in good old makjang fashion he would have been given money by someone from the family to keep them apart. but hey they are still filming....might be possible that they change things around and certain hints that they gave so far are completely dropped later on.
Also I know this is a Weekend drama and not one of my lovely trashy daily dramas....so probably my theory is completely wrong
Do you know any more drama that is similar to the promise I recently watched it and I loved it I plan to start…
This one is pretty good and close to The Promise, but a little more rediculous. I mean a lot of these dramas are quite similar however I personally recommend "Second Husband", "Home for Summer", "Person Who Gives Happiness", "Gold Mask"
probably an unpopular opinion....but I don't want Paytai & Ramil get their happy ending in the last episode.
Down the line, sure (like in a spin off or sequel), but they would need to pull some time skip bullshit to fit it in this show and ultimately it wouldn't feel earned. Pulling off a full redemption arc in one episode, especially if they are not the main couple, is super hard even for the best writers.
I know we are not aiming for realism, however, I think it would be more fitting to have them on neutral level first ( like not lovy dovy couple but not strangers either). A fresh start for them would be welcomed. All this time their relationship was so out of balance especially because there was the private relationship and the public one.
50% is global and 50% is korea votes though? the only way korean votes may be an advantage is when they do the…
it is 50/50 but that means the total amount of Korean votes is equal to the total amount of global votes. Let's say there are 1 million Korean votes and 5 million global votes. Both count 50%, which means in this case 1 million Korean votes have the same weight as 5 million global votes. If that makes sense. That's why Korean votes are more valuable.
This was a weird production choice. Why have two groups (planets) when you don't rank them separately? If it was going to be this way anyways , there was no need to split them apart and pretend that they are autonomous groups. I actually don't mind them getting rid of many contestants this early because 160 is way too many to showcase everbody. However, by having the "star creator" vote being the ultimate factor it turns just into another Korea vs Global all over again (because Korean votes count more but Global votes can outnumber them). This will divide watchers and voters. I wouldn't be surprised if once again 3 out of the top 4 of the debut group are going to be non Korean.
I'm sorry...but what is up with Jay's inferiority complex? Especially because Calvin is royalty from a different country. Why are you acting like he betrayed you?
torture towards FL to have her locked up. She is as much a victim in this whole scenario as ML. She wants to go, you supposedly should want her to go and yet she is stuck there. I don't know why but the smells hella selfish to not even let her visit her mother in the hospital. Also taking her phone...why would you do that? Is the goal to make her hate you as much as possible? I mean sure I get why you would think this is the best solution for now but if what big daddy said was true you would be siblings and trying to make you drift apart from each other as much as possible will only make problems down the line
Honestly for me the ML constantly acts as if he is always the victim no matter the circumstances. Even if his own actions led to something going against him it's only someone else's fault
5th Motiv compared to the other videos this one felt smaller in scale. Maybe it's the camera angles that were chosen or something else but it didn't give the grandness of a mega crew. Also while I do get the message of the people make the country, it's somewhat uninspiried. Lots of countries are this melting pot of different cultures. And did anyone else feel like it turned into a perfume commercial while it was black and white?
4th RHTokyo This one had structural issues for me. Splitting it in past and present...fine. But because having the hard cut from just past to present was jarring. Especially because they only used one location for the present. The past had like 4 locations that they could cut in-between but the present was just one. Maybe they wanted to give us storytelling but the wasn't clear enough visually. Locations were iconic though.
3rd AG Squad They did the most in a good and in a bad way. First of loved that they shot everything in nature. Can't imagine how hard that was because there are so many elements that you can't control. Now with AG everyone got their own little segment which is commandable but can give this chopped up feeling which is why the transitions are very important and luckily they thought about that. My biggest issue is the high angle shot. It just wasn't good. Next to no bit of creativity and also it looked kinda messy.
2nd Ojo Gang This was fun. I don't even know why but I enjoyed it very much. The glowing light sticks were genius. Now do I think this represented Osaka or Japan in general. Not so much. This is the danger when shooting in a studio. But there were so many memorable moments fo me at least that I gladly overlook it. AND OMG THOSE LED FLAGS
1st Bumsup This was art. I think the only con I could find was that because almost everyone was dressed the same (I believe Bada and the actress were dressed slightly different) I had a tough time making out Bumsup apart from the mega crew (maybe that was intentional idk). I could also be really picky and say that it was showcasing historical Korea and not so much current Korea but that is just a personal preference. Like I said with Ojo that's the danger of shooting in a studio but Busump compensated that with the costuming Apart from those minor details everything else *chef's kiss*. Also really smart to have just instrumental and no vocals so you only focused on the dance.
How do y'all feel about Royal Family reusing choreography for the class mission? I feel like if it's a choreography…
on second thought the fact that ment only called it out once is quite genius in terms of audience manipulation
maybe they only had sound bites of other contestants calling it out for the rookie class but if not this was seriously some inception shit.
by doing that in one class it planted the seed that there is such a thing with RF and reusing material. In comes the Internet and millions of amateur researchers. Ment didn't have to show that all classes reused choreo because the internet/audience was gonna do it for them and ultimately makes it feel like a bigger thing than what was shown in the show.
meanwhile ment is sitting ther all Pikachu-surprised-meme and calmly saying "oh no. what? there were more instances? who could have imagined such a thing" while counting Won-bills.
Or they just got lucky but I doubt it. this was calculated to get maximum audience engagement
From what I understand from watching some dance youtube reactors, AG squad has reused some parts of choreo (like…
That's fair. However they signed up for this competition. Why would you sign up for it and not give it your all? I know mnet is infamous for creating drama and feeding off of controversy. But if you are aware of this why would you play into it and give them material that is possibly unfavourable to you? Sure sometimes teams just want the public exposure by appearing on program like this but those are more often the lesser known ones. RF is quite the big name in the world of dance. I doubt that they didn't put in effort on purpose because they know of mnet's rigging habits. Especially because a lot of them happen in the editting, which happens way past recording. What you do during recording is on you because you can only control yourself. What is shown/framed in the edit is on production because they can play around with the material that was given.
I don't know my guess is they were just a little naive
What do you mean " When I'm ready, I will tell you everything" OH HELL NO. That's some egotistical bullshit. So you are more important in this situation? Got it.

After the first episode I am reminded that this is a "reality" show....which basically means highly produced for narrative sake. You can see that from the casting to the "battle" system. Honestly they should have called this season "Rival Street Woman Fighter" by the amount of rivalries they set up.
Apart from that, unless I missed it, the 1v1 battles seemed really non consequential in terms of the competition. And whenever something is non consequential in a competition setting you know for sure it's heavily produced. Because producers can do whatever they want like giving out wins and losses. Am I suggesting the judges are influenced by production? Yes I am. Also it wouldn't be hard to justify certain decisions because the all around skill level is very high and close. That being said, why would they do that? Storylines!!! Especially the first episodes are not really the introduction to the teams or the members, heck some didn't even say a word, it's to establish narratives. Like who is the underdog, who is a surprise, who underperforms and so on.
man...hats off to you on writing how you feel about each and everything about the drama in the comment section...makes…
haha I often do that with older longer shows. Sometimes you just gotta let out how you feel in the moment especially if it's makjang (witch is the source of from this remake)
Also I know this is a Weekend drama and not one of my lovely trashy daily dramas....so probably my theory is completely wrong

I feel like if it's a choreography challenge you should actually create a new choreography.
Also I am surprised that mnet only called it out once.

mnet is really mnetting out here
and now in Season 2....I still hate it
