We never got to see Khanin in formal wear before he got to Emmaly, so we don't really know what sort of style he'd personally choose. We just know that when he was putting Emmaly formal wear on for the first time, he didn't want something too fancy and loud looking. I see the similarities to 16th/17th century wealthy men's fashion. Emmaly is so heavily inspired by historical European style formal wear. We're lucky they aren't walking around in bloomer styled breeches. I'd say the social class matters, since Charan isn't royalty and is normally wearing what looks to be a more uniform styled outfit. Paytai, we don't know enough about him yet.
