when she asked Yan Zheng what he did before drugging him and he said basically nothing but keep people from falling behind I understood her hanging back as just doing what he said he did. My husband said he didn’t really do much so I’m gonna not really do much since I’m replacing him. And she told th squad “we’re just gonna cut off some ears for merit to make it look like we did something,” ahead of time. So her actual behavior seemed to me pretty consistent.

They had a full business day to go process the finalization of divorce. I imagine most people would work back from the 30 days—select a day they know they’ll be available or block it off like a real adult commitment/appointment, go 30 days before that to submit the docs and it’s done. One would assume that if you both actually wanted to divorce you’d be lined up outside the building waiting to get in, not coming in at the last minute.

this is a top contender for my favorite drama of the year 🤷‍♀️

I’m a huge Ryan Cheng fan and largely unfamiliar with Zhou Ye but I’ve been so impressed by how convincing she is in her role that it was hard for me to adjust to it when she switched back to a female dress for those few episodes

if she found the passageway two years ago there’s no reason it couldn’t have been built after they moved in since she was off secluded somewhere and wouldn’t have known.

not sure where you are in the story but she sends that Tao woman to where her mom stays to be able to track her movement and conspiring with the concubine and Yushan. she also has her maid follow them. I feel like she is actively doing things against them, just not necessarily openly so.

I think in each drama I’ve seen we get a version of reality in secondary characters but the fantasy in the leads. Her foster father may be closer to the reality but how do you build a story around that?

I had this same thought!! if she was strong enough to kill two adults with a hair accessory why is that old lady constraining her by barely holding her hands behind her back. Make it make sense!

It was a translation issue. I think his words when he wiped the tear away could be translated ‘she’s still torn about breaking up’ as in she doesn’t want to/hasn’t made up her mind to/upset at the thought of/is loathe to break up.

To her credit, neither of those times did she sabotage the FL. she tattled on her openly. she wasn’t acting in the shadows or setting her up to fail…just pointing out things that were true. I don’t like Chen Xiu, but her actions are materially different than her maid’s.

white olive tree is the slowest drama I’ve watched in a while at least up to ep 8. I dropped it at that point.

I often ask myself this question when I see other people do this. Comments can be helpful to others. I look through comments when I’m deciding on something to watch. I held out judgment on this show for 8 episodes (which out of 38 isn’t a lot but also isn’t nothing) and so my first several visits I wasn’t going to the page of a drama I didn’t like, I was going to the page of a drama I hadn’t figured out if I liked yet or not.
