in a xianxia with a mystery sub genre, nothing will make sense if you skip the details. you'll end up hating the drama more and more as you find the characters' actions inexplicable after missing certain details. seeing this comment section makes me realize people don't watch enough mind-challenging shows, often without a direct explanation, we must pick up the clues ourselves and think from the characters' POVs. HRY ignored BJS warnings about mortal realm interference several times, thus he rightfully believes that she would never truly be engaged in the love tribulation properly. out of his love for her, he is willing to make the silent sacrifice. HRY feels dismissed by BJS because of his adherence to the rules, thus she keeps her pregnancy a secret even amidst being abandoned. in her eyes, she treausred their mortal realm marriage but was suddenly abandoned by him in the tribulation lovelessly. the irony is that their conflicting ideals build up resentment but are also the ultimate "love trial". as immortals, they must experience all the emotional complications mortals face for their trial. hope this helps ! although I understand that there are more interpretations, but this one clicks the most for me 🫶

I watched BTS and I get what you're saying, her actual voice is capable of mirroring the intonations of the script, but VAs are naturally trained to expand their vocal register. There's a clearer distinction btwn HRY/LQY or when she's vengeful/affection when the VA can resiliently change their tone. These changes are usually made do to director's vision or scheduling conflict (dubbing does take a lot of time), not really as an "F U" to the actor 🫶

It was so touching seeing HRY doting on the children with miserable fates, secretly harboring the pain of believing her husband was unwilling to grant her that happiness. They both stand for justice, but HRY is definitely closer to abiding the "mortal's version" of it. He's more in tune with his logic while she's more in tune with her emotions, basically setting her up to resent him for a lack of sympathy for mortals and ultimately blame him for leaving her and her son (even though it was not his intended outcome).
