i said in ancient and modern times there will be some people who overlook these things to show that human nature doesn't change drastically over the course of time, people who are bystanders can be equally accountable in a place of power. i don't hate xw but certain things irk/irritate people more than others. "the things they haven't done yet" is accurate only to some extent, because jxn already experienced that trauma. it's clear she doesn't attribute her hatred towards xw, but as viewers everyone is entitled to hate one character or another and both sides are reasonable in this case.

i personally would rate the drama by 10/10, but ignoring potential bias of the cast i'd say this is supposed to be 8.6-9.0 range based on mdl standards (if there were no absurdly low dropped ratings)

idk what your view is on china's history but i hope you know that it's not like rape was condoned just because it was an ancient dynasty. some people overlooked it back then due to a lack of morals, and some still do in modern society. i won't incriminate xw because he did say that it's wiser to never show that you love someone so people can't take advantage of your weakness. he acted upon those words and showed minimal care for her while trying to protect her. whether someone disapproves or approves of his actions is all just opinionated :)

regarding to xiewei's condition, it translates to dementia in subtitles which i wouldn't say is too accurate since the direct translation is soul leaving syndrome. in chinese it's 离魂症, there's a baidu article about it and essentially it's used in many literary works relating to ancient times/dynasties in China. his condition is more peculiar since it's only related to snowy days, his traumatic event.
