How about people who leave in the middle of a drama NEVER need to be casted again. That is SUPER unprofessional…
Well, Han Ye Seul is rumored to make her drama comeback very soon and Lee Da Hae already had other dramas after "East of Eden". =\

I actually want to know what's happening in the first pic. o.0
Eheh. Nice to know it caught your attention. I had a hard time picking the head picture. It's from this piece of news: http://www.dramabeans.com/2008/06/kim-jang-hoon-collapses-in-concert/

Hi!

I checked out the first episode of "Guilty" but I dropped it right away. Honestly, the lead actress is on my blacklist. I'm not sure why, but she annoys me.

I just finished "The Grand Tribe" and I liked it... but I hated the ending. I wanted to like this drama much more, but I guess that after watching "Empire of Gold" and "Hanzawa Naoki" everything else feels slow in comparison.

But you know, the ending of "Aishiteru to Ittekure" isn't nearly as bad as some others I've seen.

For example, the ending for the old Jdrama "Pure". (ignore if you don't want to be spoiled)

The drama is about a male reporter and a young autistic woman who is a brilliant artist. It's shown as a "pure love" story because with her handicap she has the mind of a child.

Throughout the drama they fall in love and everyone is against their relationship. But by the end it's established that they will be together, that they will build their own family.

And then in the last 5 minutes the "hero" is walking down the street and suddenly SOMETHING FALLS ON HIM AND HE DIES.

WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF!

I feel angry just thinking about it.

I'm watching "Heirs" on fast-forward. All I'm interested in is the couple Im Joo Eun and Choi Jin Hyuk (and I guess Kang Ha Neul too). But with such a huge cast I can barely get a glimpse of them.

"Sweet 18" was an okay drama. What I liked the most about it was the "hero", the fact that he was actually a nice guy and he tried to be kind to the "heroine". I'm sick and tired of douchebag heroes. But other than that... the drama was a bit too childish for my liking.

I don't remember exactly the point where "Jun to Ai" started derailing. Maybe episode 30? It was definitely before episode 50. Urgh, I feel so bitter thinking about it!

I checked out the first episode of "Last Christmas" and it seems like a nice romantic Jdrama. Unfortunately the first couple of minutes basically tell us that the girl is going to die in the end. I'm not even spoiling it, that's what it shows.

Regarding "Empire of Gold"... I agree with you about Tae Joo. I think he had a great respect and even love for Seo Yoon. But after making Seol-Hee take that huge sacrifice for him, he basically denied himself any right to be happy with or love Seo Yoon. He was living with the guilt of his actions.

Yeah, I agree with what you said. I rated it an 8 precisely because of those points. I really enjoyed all its positive points, but the drama shot itself in the foot with that needless drama.

I do love that old school vibe though. Even though it looks a bit cheap (like most old dramas), it still told a better story than most modern pretty-but-empty dramas.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. :) You were very specific in the kind of drama you wanted to watch, so I recommended the best thing that fit those requirements (and that you hadn't watched yet). :P

I'm eager to know your final thoughts on "Love Revolution". Let me know as soon as you finish it!
Also, are you going to write a review for it?

I seriously doubt that I'll ever complete my list. Many of the dramas and movies I've watched were completely boring and forgettable. And since I have a tendency to watch unknown and underrated stuff, it's unlikely that I'll ever stumble upon them again. :P

It's really hard to find a good romantic Korean drama that doesn't overdo it. But since they have 16 hours (or more) to fill, they usually add a lot of headache-inducing melodrama.

I do prefer romantic melodramas instead of romantic comedies. My sense of humor is probably very limited, since I rarely enjoy a comedy without finding it stupid or offensive.

For example... one of the very few romantic comedy Kmovies that I actually found funny was "Unstoppable Marriage".

When I first started watching dramas, ROMANCE was all I wanted and loved. But nowadays I find myself watching and enjoying some dramas that aren't romantic at all (usually because I was tricked into thinking they WERE romantic).

Right now I think the writing is the most important. I can watch and like a drama about any subject and any genre as long as it's well written.

Let me know your opinion after you watch the movie. :)

Well, my list is pretty honest. Anything rated 8 or above is something I really liked. If I rated it a 10 then it means that I both loved it and I consider it high quality in pretty much everyway (acting, writing, directing, ...). If I rated it 8 or 9 then it means I loved it but I recognize that it's not "Oscar worthy".

Regarding Empire of Gold's ending... even though it didn't quite satisfy me, I thought it was fitting. My ideal ending would be one where Tae Joo redeemed himself... apologizing, going to jail, repenting. While he was in jail Seo Yoon would also realize how alone and miserable she was and try to make things right. Then years later Tae Joo would leave jail and Seo Yoon would be waiting at the gates with a proposition for him to start over from scratch, by her side. ~THE END~
"Love Generation" is another drama I've wanted to check. I'm not even sure if I haven't checked the first episode already. Maybe the lack of video quality made me quit... or the ~pure love~ wasn't my cup of tea.
"Royal Family"... I've checked the first and last episode. It has one of those WTF endings, but I think the drama itself might be good. The first episode was certainly a handful.

I stay away from forums too... but if I just take one peak at Tumblr I get immediately spoiled. That's why I stopped visiting it.

By the way, did you ever watch this video? Supposedly this was the Opening for Empire of Gold, but I never saw it in the drama. Either they never showed it or I always skipped it. But I thought it was REALLY amazing and fitting to the drama: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sDyv74XciM

Hey! :)

If you don't see a specific drama on my list, feel free to recommend it! Maybe I haven't seen it!

Sometimes I don't check out dramas simply because their synopsis and genre doesn't appeal to me... but if someone tells me it's good, I'll give it a shot.

I am finding that my drama tastes are changing. Nowadays I watch so many non-romantic dramas that would never have appealed to me in the past!
