Actually, i'm still puzzled by her name Bi Bi Dong which sounds very modern if Dong is her lastname while given…
I think it's possible that her last name is Bibi. Some Chinese last names are 2 characters long (such as Ouyang, which is a common one)-- I think that would make the most sense, but then again, I'm not an expert in this. ^^"
Adding onto that, the last scene is basically his mother's voice telling him to wake up, probably suggesting that what we witnessed was a 40-episode flashback (again, not too sure).
So what you're saying is that though the story has been changed, where the drama has ended now matches up with…
I found that part with Bi Bi Dong really strange too. It went down too fast.
I wonder if Cang Hui was added as a stronger "driving force" behind him moving from place to place & his reason for leveling up / becoming stronger? Perhaps because the drama ends at the place it does, the screenwriter thought that finding his father alone wasn't a strong enough reason to carry the entire season.
Whelp finished 40, gonna go write a review and then guess done with this boardAs a drama it was fine, above-average…
So what you're saying is that though the story has been changed, where the drama has ended now matches up with the halfway point of the novel? I'm curious since I've only watched the drama, so I've been browsing the Soul Land wiki & it seems at a surface level the plot more or less is the same-- are there any big differences? (besides the "filler", as you mentioned. ^^)
Just finished the ending and I'm kind of frustrated but I knew that it was going to end like this.
I agree-- I'm frustrated too. It ended way too fast/abruptly. We didn't even get to see the Headmaster / teachers & rest of the team for the last time. And the ending, I don't even understand what it means. It's so directionless. What is real and what is false? Is this a dream, an alternate reality sequence, or was TS not born at all, or none of the above?
The name Bi Bi Dong sounds like it'd belong to a modern pop singer / celeb to me, so every time her name is mentioned I have a hard time taking her seriously. x)
When the headmaster says to Tang San and Xiao Wu, "you're the students I'll never forget in my lifetime because in the history of Shi Lan Ke, you guys paid the least tuition" I just about died.
Ep 39...ummm for me its like 50/50..Eps 39 they like literally rushing all the point lol.. Even Xiao Wu real identity…
I thought they made it pretty obvious but for some reason the others had no reaction? When Bi Bi Dong says that no one can enter the chamber except for Spirit Beasts.
I'm halfway through ep 37. Rather than "missions" for Tang San to complete, we're finally starting to see him tackle the actual conflict & such. I have no idea how anything is going to be resolved. I just hope this season is going to be a complete arc & the major questions get answered, but I have an ominous feeling that there's a massive cliffhanger ending-- at the pace we're going at, this doesn't feel good.
Spoiler for ep 30 and 31 pls. Just ep summary! I cant wait.
Left out some details, but overall:
ep 30: Oscar "rescues" Rong Rong. Tang San manages to sell his herbs in the auction (thanks to Rong Rong's father) and they get the money and register for the competition. The team goes to the forest to try to get their fourth Soul Ring before the competition begins. They all succeed (except for Xiao Wu, who still has 3), and Tang San kills a spider that's more than 10,000 years old. He manages to make that his fourth Soul Ring with the help of his mother's parting gift-- the pond. At this point, only Oscar, Rong Rong, and Zhu Qing are awake (the others are still absorbing their soul rings), so they rush to the competition. Oscar and Rong Rong both win a 1:1 battle with the Tian Dou team.
ep 31: Zhu Qing wins 2 battles to buy time. They nearly get disqualified because after Zhu Qing is defeated, there's no one left to fight, but Tang San comes in time and wins the battle-- so quickly that the team is left speechless. That night, Tang San talks to Xiao Wu about how he thinks that Xuan Tian Records made him much stronger than he was theoretically supposed to be with 4 Soul Rings. They're suddenly attacked by an 8-Ring soul master, who knocks out Xiao Wu and brings Tang San outside. Turns out he was sent by the Tian Dou King as revenge for knocking out his team. The Soul Master promises to let Tang San go if he can get across a door. Out of desperation, Tang San throws Hao Tian Hammer, and the Soul Master is taken by surprise and asks him who his father is. Tang San refuses to say, until Xiao Gang comes out and says that it's ok. Tang San tells him, and the Soul Master reveals himself to be Tai Tan (like Titan), Tang Hao's owner. Tang San asks him about Tang Hao's past, and Tai Tan says he's really sorry about the entire situation with Marital Soul Hall. (it ends there)
Do you guys think there's a chance that season 2 is already filmed? Filming took 6 months-- I feel like that's a little on the long side for a 40 (35-minutes per) episode drama. Dramas a little less than double the length can get filmed in that time.
I feel like I got scammed. Comment section said screenwriter Wang Juan would give plot twist on ep 40. Turned…
I'd rather ep 40 clean up most of the major arcs about Tang San's family & give us a peace of mind than end at some crazy cliffhanger/plot twist. As long as season 2 actually happens, I don't mind waiting.
Tang San seems to trust people so easily. First I nearly had a heart attack when he told Xiao Wu about the Xuan Tian Records. When he's captured by the Du Gu master, he says that he's not afraid because he's telling the truth, then proceeds to make a deal with him where he performs a life-threatening blood transfusion and the Du Gu master doesn't even uphold his side of the deal. Then in episode 31 he runs across that door in panic because the Tai Tan promised to let him go if he could get across that door. Like bro, it's worked out so far, but I'm so scared he's going to run into someone who's not going to mean what they say & have bad intentions.
so as of episode 31, Xiao Gang has basically confirmed that Tang San has twin Marital Souls, and the other one is a Hao Tian Hammer? That's what I understood from watching it & I'm sure he suspected it before, but he looked so chill in the scene lmao
I feel the same way. We're probably going to have to wait 2/3 years at least for the sequel, since they haven't…
Thankfully I doubt they'd replace XZ unless he declines himself-- I'm guessing he's pulling a decent amount of the viewership that's not the fans of the original work, and he's the entire reason they upped the CGI budget! But I do feel that this is probably the last coming-of-age story he'll star in, which makes me sad because I love these types of stories.
Idk with others but the FL sudden appearance is quite off. She butts in as she pleases and quite a nuisance to…
I agree so much!! I thought I was the only one who felt this way.
I also personally feel like the two leads don't have enough on-screen chemistry (both friendship and romantic)-- in part because their relationship developed too fast for my liking and in part probably because of the disparity between Xiao Zhan and Xuanyi's acting experience.
In ep 26? or 27? When Xiao Wu charged into that empire to save Tang San, then gave him her spiritual powers (forgive me, I don't know the names of anything since I watched it without subs xD)-- I honestly felt nothing.
The other couples have been fantastic though! Oscar and Rong Rong, god, they're amazing.
