Ya know if Chinese historical dramas were around 16 eps like most east asian dramas, I would watch every single…
Well, all things considered, episodes are barely 35 minutes long - taking out intro and outro - so in the end is just like watching 18 episodes of a K-drama. Give them a chance!!!!! :D
It not actually 80mins long, all the episodes are around 1hr5mins plus 1 or 2 more mins. Also aside from romcom…
So, why was a comment section even invented when someone can't come here and say they dislike the show? Isn't a negative opinion an opinion too? Or are you implying this section is restricted to lovers of the show who gather here to rave about it?
By the way, I barely knew of the existence of this drama: I'm simply passing by because I like Lee Seung Gi and wanted to know what people think about this show. Nonetheless, I claim my right to be here and even dare to express a general opinion.
I genuinely dislike this kind of so called special episodes that promise to be an epilogue when in fact they are a short collage of already seen scenes. I'd rather imagine my own epilogue. If I wanted to re-watch DFQC's dream I'd do so. There are far better MVs out there, like this one, for instance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gbKgmbetVo&list=LL&index=3&t=223s
thanks, haha - something to lighten things up. it was a decent enough watch and there were serious and sad parts…
Don't worry, I just finished a xanxia myself - a much shorter and very enjoyable one, so my effort was a lot less heroic than yours ;) . Even so, I need a break from brainless immortals and flying demons. Should I ever decide to watch another in the future I doubt I'll remember which is what: they all have the same posters, lol!
I have no idea about the drama - my radar never went near it before tonight, out of simple curiosity - but the review sure is hilarious! Not sure I can take this thing seriously after reading you. ^o^
I completed this drama today, so reading this was a double pleasure: first, because it's extremely well written and informative, second, because I'm fresh with the experience and miss these characters already. If I hadn't watched it, this article would have surely prompted me to do so at once. Thank you!
Lmao. Great article! How come I hadn't come across this when it was first published? Possibly, the word Virus resonate more now than it did 9 years ago, or I was bedridden with influenza...
An extremely well written, informative and thought-through article: thank you!
Apart from having all sorts of genres and acting styles to fit them, there's another + point to give to Japanese doramas: if they advertise a product as, say, a romantic comedy, you're going to get a romantic comedy. It's not going to suddenly turn into a melodrama with an ocean of tears left and right. Not that I have anything against melodrama, but I like to get the food I ordered. ;)
I agree. It's unfortunate that so few J-dramas are available to (legally) stream. I think J-dramas would be much…
Totally agree. And yet, I can't help but feeling that the moment they start selling themeselves to the international public they may lose their unicity. It always happens when, in order to be better commercialized, a product ends up adjusting to the public taste. That's what's happening to Kdramas, which are slowly "westernizing" and, in so doing, losing some of their original charm.
I'm obviously all in favour of finding more and more J-dramas to watch, but a part of me is happy they are keeping their unique flavour by remaining "niche" products.
I was surprised that this wasn't just based off the movie Always it's pretty much literally the same movie almost…
I, on the other hand, was surprised that a few changes, so minor and small as they were, could make such a big difference in my personal involvement with the story and the characters. I found the Japanese version more harrowing, more believable, more touching than the original one. I liked the Korean, but I truly love this one.
Brava! Non è facile dire così tanto in una recensione tutto sommato breve. Hai colto davvero nel segno e mi spiace solo che la maggior parte degli utenti del sito non la leggerà o se lo farà usando un traduttore non ne coglierà mai la spietata accuratezza. Comunque concordo in pieno.
Hands down one of the best thing that has come out of the Asian drama world this year. This show is so so refreshing…
I gave it a 9.5 rate, as I totally agree with you. It's very unlikely we will ever see such a high rating for a Japanese product on this site, which is obsessively Korean oriented. It saddens me to say so as I am one of the oldest members here and I do love Kdramas too, but the overt bias is that what keeps me away from here most of the time.
Porn aside - which is male oriented everwhere in the world, not only in Japan - I agree with you. My problem with this kind of stories is the target: by describing a dynamic in which a woman forgets herself in favour of a man and pretends it were "romantic", sends out the worst of messages to young people. It's like stating: "ok, girls, if your one and only ambition in life is to pursue a man and you do so with tenacity, you'll live happily ever after". Cringeworthy. It seems not much has changed since Cinderella and the Little Mermaid. The mantra "this is only fiction" isn't an excuse. Young readers/watchers ARE influenced by fiction, much more than they are by examples in the real world. Even the advertisement industry is still stuck on medieval concepts, with women cleaning the house, little girls playing princess and men driving sport cars.
The reverse isn't an option for a very simple reason: intelligent, successful women don't fall in love with silly, clumsy, teen-like men. They look for a little more substance in a partner.
So, my humble advice to you is this: next time you sense Itazura na kiss all over again, change channel.
Thanks Amrita! Unfortunately, the MDLers who are not active here anymore won't get their articles known. Since…
It's been nice of you to contact them all to ask for their consent, but I think if you stumble upon an interesting article written by a user who's not active here anymore, it shouldn't be a problem to insert them in yours. First, why should they mind? As I said, it's a lovely tribute. Second, it's good to re-read an old article through the eyes of a 1-year-old drama addict! :D
Another classic, lol.
And how about the way he bites into that crunchy morsel after telling her about DFQC's eating preferences?
😂
Give them a chance!!!!! :D

Trust me.
