Hahahahaha, you read me!
Of course killing is too rude an action for a pretty lady. Perhaps frown at me? :p
How have you been? :)

Now that I think of it, I have never watched a drama with KDW. I once wanted to watch 1% of anything (I believe it's with him?), but I couldn't find a mirror with the whole serie, so I just left it be. Did you see it?

Wow, this wall is like a café where good reviewers meet!
I see Pretty is here too... well, was here too. :)
One day we should have a reviewing coffee... :D (unless pretty kills me before for my review of Gumiho... ;);)

First of all, I can't do anything better than agree with you on every... digression. I was ready to overlook the many inconsistencies while I was still charmed by those two, but after a while the cute wore thin and everything else became so evident and not excusable anymore.
As for Big... ah, I'm afraid you've touched a sore spot here: I HATE the Hong Sisters. Because a good friend insisted I at least try Big before judging, I did so and... dropped it after 30 minutes like a hot potato. Usual soup: she's clumsy, is supposed to have some neurons but not for the viewer to see or notice. Usual triangle/quadrangle, lots of slapstick humour and everything is thrown upon the shoulder of the hot guy, i.e. Gong Yoo (the only reason I was willing to give this a try). But his charm isn't enough for me to digest the show.
Sorry, I know I'm a little too... passionate, but I truly can't help it.:P

Ah, they are both great actors who will possibly do more films than dramas from now on - just a random guess. Not that dramas aren't good products, mind you, but I can very well understand that a Kang Dong Won can't simply go from, say, Duelist to any rom-com, and Binnie is basically the same.
But who knows, the Korean entertainment business is... different, from what I'm used to here.
As for me, any writer besides the famous Hongs will do, lol.
Yes, I'm a bit passionate in my dilikes... I should drink less coffee and opt for camomile tea perhaps :P

So I'm back! Haha, my dinners are faster than fast food. ;)
And where did you upload the pictures? In a thread?
Of course it's an A, I had no doubt. :D
It seems we are both going to spend the Summer at home, which can be great fun too, and definitely more quiet than usual, lol. I believe my good drama mood will be restored after the Summer, when the open air life is less attractive. But, like you said the bar is a lot higher now and I'm becoming more and more punctilious.
I'm actually waiting the return of Binnie with a passion, I can only hope he will NEVER accept a Hong sister drama or I promise you I'll do ritual hara kiri. :P

Be warned: I do I do is one of those dramas that... grow on you. In the beginning it may feel a little draggy, at times even somehow boring, but Kim Sun Ah is justfantastic and the main male lead truly has a nice growth!
Ahhhh, let me go eat, LOL

But, as I said, the problem right now is my drama-mood, which is always inbetween frustrated and annoyed after I've had an overdose of something great.
Knowing myself, I should simply go on a holiday after a good drama, LOL

How about you? Tell me all about your thesis and finals: did you celebrate? Are you planning some deserved holiday? Want to visit Italy again? You have a cicero now, LOL. :D

My dearest,
you must have some sort of radar, because every time I think about writing to you (and then get sidetracked by some trivial thing), you do so! :D
I'm doing fine, my BIG translation has been duly sent to the editor and I am now waiting for the next, since I think I'm the only translator who doesn't go on a holiday in Summer, lol.
Drama-wise however, I'm right now in a very foul mood, one of my refusal phases which makes me bored of everything I attempt at watching. Only exception, I do I do, which I am surprisingly enjoying.
I finished Queen Inhyun's and I have to say, this is a drama one has to watch in a row: if you stop and are pulled out of the momentary enchantment, it falls flat. Sorry, I know you loved it and I liked it a lot too, in the beginning, but it bored me in the last episodes, so that all its plot inconsistencies became evident.

P.S. The toaster reminds me of one of the best episodes of the Simpsons, when Homer is catapulted in the past by a defective toaster. LMAO

Wow, why isn't there a button to click on reviews that says: I am so much in agreement with this review I wish I had written it myself!
I'm referring to your review of Queen Inhyun's Man. I finally got to the end of it (struggling, I must admit), and was pondering the idea of writing a review, but you truly said EXACLY what I would have written, and better than I would have. Well, I wouldn't have mentioned the toaster for the simple reason that I'm not you, lol, but I loved the analogy and it explained the flaw VERY well. :D
So, again, very well done!!!

P.S. Not that I'm stalking your wall, but Bladey is too shiny - with that lovely avatar of hers - to overlook. I suppose she has already expressed the same as me about your review. Hi bladey, nice to meet you here too. ;););)
LOL

Thank you, thank you!
I truly don't mind your suggesting more serious dramas, they will be kept in store for the time I regain my senses and am ready for something thought-provoking. :)
Densha Otoko is also on my list... good to know that you liked it!! Remind me of MDL? You mean I will smile at times and shout at the screen at others? LOL
As for you, when and IF you'll ever be ready for something Korean again, please watch King2Hearts. Mind you, it's serious and it has a lot of dramatic turns, but it's marvellously acted and shot, plus the "tragedy" in it makes sense, it's not just thrown in to have fangirls with ringlets weep.
Meanwhile, I wish you a nice day, and always thank you for your suggestions. You know I trust those. :D

Hello, adorable friend. ;);)
I'm going through a phase of drama refusal lately and can't seem to be appeased by anything.
However, I've started Lucky Seven and I already love all the characters. It promises to be a fun and quirky watch. Have you seen it? :)
Replying to amrita828 Jul 3, 2012
wow, this show has already been scored by 10 ppl and even recommended! I suppose MDL members travel in time too...…
I agree. I for one will think twice before starting this... you know, just for the sake of protest. ;)
My taste aside, popularity charts are always unfair. If only a few people watch a drama, its rank will be determined by those few: if many watch it, it will be determined by this kind of scenario, where a rate is given because there's Lee Min Ho in it. That's how some dramas I won't mention here came to occupy the first positions.

Yes!! That's exactly what I do too. After almost 5 years of watching Asian dramas, I believe I have developed a sort of "instinct" as to those dramas I'm going to enjoy, and those I won't. The first episode is normally a good indicator, and details can make a huge difference. However, just like you there are cases in which I'm in doubt and those reviews which sound honest and are well expressed helped me more than once decide if I should go on or not.
I must confess my instinct has failed me too, sometimes. So I say: welcomed are good reviews! :D

Thank you for this pleasant chat. I'm going out for dinner now, so wish you a pleasant one too. :D

Yes, I couldn't agree more! I like it when a writer (and an actor as a reflex) manages to slowly penetrate under your skin. It makes the process of falling for him so much more believable, because it somehow goes at the same pace as, in this case, the female character. She also started seeing him as a man so gradually, just like us the viewers.
And yes, the table umbrella was a great touch, at the same time sweet and hilarious!

As for your fears of being "bashed", there will always be people who don't agree with your reviews, whatever you say. There is obviously no remedy to this, since taste is an indisputable factor, but I tend to judge a review based upon... your ability to explain why and what you did or didn't like. I have bashed more popular shows and paid the price, but I maintain my reasons. So, my humble opinion is: please, keep on writing honest reviews! :D
