I really hope the preview is not a hoax and they're going to come clear in the next episode. A big reason I want a faster revelation is so we can get proper character development and relationship development between the leads. Darim, as the main character, needs serious development. She's the traditional damsel in distress, always drowning, falling, slipping, dropping things, etc. Part of this is scene repetition from lazy writing, another part is her character design which is meant to be clumsy so she can be saved by a knight in shining armor. Even Ji Hyeok went meta and commented on her being too weak. Then we see her reflecting on what he said, so I hope it is some sort of foreshadowing of her growth.
The relationship is also not properly developed. They started with a whirlwind romance of sexual attraction, and because of a lie, they havent been able to actually open up and talk about problems. They haven't gotten to the point where they can see each other clearly for who they are and work together. The romantic scenes are lacking substance because there's no deeper connection between the characters. They're currently way inside their own bubble. If rhe writers dont devote the remainder of the episodes on developing the relationship, they will run out of time.
Quite silly the part the 2FL tries to tell ML the truth but the 2ML stops her and it just ends there? 2FL is a…
Yeah, 2FL is also suffering from the lie in her own way. She's being framed as a homewrecker, yet she can't tell the truth to clear herself. The struggle is real. One may say she brought it on herself for pursuing 2ML at this time, but frankly she has no obligation to be part of the lie or to wait indefinitely for him, she's just keeping the secret because she cares, and is trying to win him over in the meantime. Now she's stuck in a limbo like the rest of them :/
Nah2ML does not love FL.. Even his little son doesnt see it :) But he sees the Pretty Lady and the 2ML sees her…
It's okay that you think it's not love. I understand what you mean. The only disagreement I had was that I didnt think it was just friendship. It's definitely more than that, just that the "more" is something toxic and unhealthy.

Depends on how you define love. A self-serving, possessive and toxic love is still love to certain people, but it's not the ideal. What 2ML is doing for the FL is already beyond what a normal friend would do. There is definitely some degree of sexual attraction and attachment going on, esp when he asks her "what do you think of me as a man?" which means he acutely knows the difference.
I'm still good with the misunderstanding plotline since it's what I signed up for, but in terms of pacing, the drama would benefit from having ep.7 sped up by 2 times and having most of ep.8's fillers removed and replaced with a faster revelation and the aftermath. Then the rest of the episodes can be about how the leads reconcile, stand together to solve external threats, and get proper character development. It doesn't take a "deep" drama to do this, it's basic writing skills and understanding the audience.
The 2ML is so irredeemable at this point it's hard to root him with 2FL. We all know he doesn't love her like he loves the FL (albeit possessively), so I don't see how they can convince us that 2FL will be happy with 2ML. Even if they did end up tgt, 2FL would seem like a replacement. I think they destroyed the second couple romance by making 2ML way too low.
Also there's not enough "com" in the "romcom". Everything has been angsty since ep.3 onwards, it might as well be a melodrama at this point lol. I hope they remember what genre they're supposed to be.
Next episode is the best time for the reveal to happen in order to not feel draggy, so hopefully the writers know what they're doing. Also, JKY and AEJ have some of the best on-screen couple chemistry I've seen in YEARS, and I've watched a lot of romcom. Seeing their subtle eye acting and how much they are in love but can't express outwardly is heart-wrenching in a masochistically fun way.
i dont understand why everyone hate SML so suddenly? like ofcourse he will be a cockblock between FL & ML…
I guess it's because he had so much time to pursue FL but didnt until he saw competition. I know he didnt want to risk their friendship, but guy didnt take his chance when he had one and he needs to realize that.
Im on Episode 2 and you guys cannot lie-this drama is so the heirs coded. our poor, hardworking female lead (without…
It's only similar in terms of the cinderella trope but everything else that happens afterwards is completely different. I personally find Dynamite Kiss to be more fun and engaging
I think characters being imperfect and morally grey are important for creating tension in a story. If everyone was just perfect, we wouldnt get to see their inner struggles and humanity. Also as the audience, we know a lot more than the characters do so of course it's easy to think what they're doing is unnecessary or they "could have done better". The plot is based on an outlandish premise in the first place, it's not something that would happen in reality and doesnt have to be compared with reality. Even the synopsis has already explained upfront that the plot is centered around a misunderstanding. If people are finding it to be an issue, then the drama is simply not their cup of tea and they can watch something else. This drama is positioning itself in a specific category that meets specific audience's needs and expectations.
The intent is to create tension and comedy through having characters respond to absurd scenarios that make them question their morality and desires, and so far it's been achieving exactly what it has set out to do. If the same misunderstanding gets stretched and milked to the point it loses its spice, then it would be considered bad storytelling, but so far the writer has been introducing new plot points every episode to switch things up and keep it engaging. Whether it can hold its ground and clear the misunderstanding at the right timing, and whether it can still keep being interesting after the reveal is what I'm waiting to see.
The romance was half baked and developed too late into the story to feel organic. The politics part was also rushed and crammed into the last few episodes. People dropped dead here and there in a fast-forward kind of way and it made it hard for the audience to let it "sink in". The drama would be much much better pace-wise if it had 16 episodes instead of 12, with more explanation on the ending as well. I loved the show for its cooking moments though, and it was really enjoyable and funny. I havent been so eager to watch and finish a k-drama in years. This is a decent comedy drama, if you dont have high expectations on it being romance heavy or politics heavy. It only touches on those elements pretty lightly. Maybe it would match audience expectations more if it was marketed more accurately by Netflix.

lol I didnt notice the name of the town!
I guess ever since he got sold to his father, he had to completely focus on his mission to ensure his own survival. There was no time for him to see girls and such. I can even imagine his reaction if a girl tried to get close to him, he'd pull on that grouchy face and tell her to eff off lol
Finally a happy ending. I didn't think the story was particulary unique or original (maybe because I watched it…
For me, it felt believable for Su Yi Shui to fall for Mu Qing Ge, because on his birthday, he tried going back to his mother, but she abandoned him and closed the door on him, which he also experienced multiple times as a child. And when he got back, Mu Qing Ge welcomed him warmly and gave him a home. So to him that was pretty significant, as all his life he was either abandoned or used as a tool. He has an innate distrust towards people, but his master treated him differently and that's why he fell for her. As for Mu Qing Ge, I agree that her sudden love for him was not explained properly. Xue Ran Ran's reason is similar to Su Yi Shui - she was an orphan and he was the first person to treat her well. PLUS he is hot... lol
