Which version is on Iqiyi? I didn't like the set up of the first few episodes, I thought it felt clunky and not…
Su Yi Shui starts having feelings for Mu Qing Ge on ep3. We don't know how Mu Qing Ge feels about him until very later on. Xue Ran Ran falls for Su Yi Shui on ep.9. They notice they have mutual feelings pretty early on and share a lot of sweet moments together, so I won't call it a slowburn, but they finally get together on ep.28.

The versions dont change how fast Su Yi Shui falls in love with Mu Qing Ge though. It always happens after the night she opens the door for him and lights his path. For me, it's believable cuz she's the first and only person to treat him well. We don't know how Mu Qing Ge feels, though.

You can tell by ep.1. Version 1.0 jumps to Xue Ran Ran passing by a storyteller after the intro battle scene. Version 2.0 starts with Su Yi Shui fighting some demons in a forest.
For those who haven't watched this drama yet, this drama has 2 versions, one that was aired first and one that was recut after viewers' feedback. The main difference is in ep.1-ep.8. For those wondering whether to watch version 1.0 or version 2.0, here are my thoughts:
They have their pros and cons. Version 1.0 starts with FML's present life, and her past life is a mystery that gets revealed in ep.3, so there's some degree of suspense (though not a lot). You're kind of following the perspective of FML, so ML is a mysterious man that suddenly appears with unknown intentions. Some people like that, but some find it confusing with the scrambled timelines. Personally, I did not find it confusing and the story was easy to follow.
Version 2.0 tells the story mostly in chronological order, starting from FML's life in the past. By the time ML meets present FML, you already know what ML has gone through, so you know why he does what he does. This version is centered on ML's experience, so you get to feel for him more. I like version 2.0 more, simply because I like to be informed. It helps me empathize with the characters.
Statistically speaking, Version 2.0 performed much better due to a variety of reasons. 1. Easier to understand and follow 2. People like FML's past life personality and relationship dynamics with ML 3. Shortened the cliche xianxia drama intro and showcased unique selling points earlier Some people prefer Version 1.0, but objectively speaking, Version 2.0 was the version that reduced drop-off rates in the first few episodes.
hi what version would you recommend me to watch? the old version started with ranran’s life and the new version…

Deng Wei looks BEAUTIFUL in this drama. He kind of looks like Shin Hye Sun and Rowoon?? He absolutely nailed the role too. His aura changes according to the character he's playing. He looks and feels nothing like the other roles I've seen him play.
MDL scoring works this way: The stars score you give on your written review does NOT count towards the drama's overall score. What really impacts the score of a drama (the number you see next to the drama poster) is impacted by the score everyone chooses in the "Add to List" pop-up modal. It is also impacted by the score given for each episode under the "Episode Guide" tab.
Update before I leave here, reviews and ratings are not counted towards the drama score, I mean we have been doing…
MDL does not have its own agenda. Historically, their drama scores have worked this way for a long time. I think what the moderator meant is that the stars score you give on your written review does not count towards the drama's general score, which has always been true. What really impacts the general score of a drama (the number you see next to the drama poster) is impacted by the score everyone chooses in the "Add to List" pop-up modal. It is also impacted by the score given for each episode under the "Episode Guide" tab. So if you want to increase the score, you can go into Episode Guide and rate each episode.
The problem is, we are being hated for being neutral, you see.We are labelled as “traitors” for liking the…
Because people feel empathetic about their important beliefs, it is part of human nature to react emotionally sometimes, which includes guilt tripping. "Because you don't condemn something, then you're immoral!" It's understandable that people do this, but I would suggest them to divert that passion to something that's more useful to their cause. The truth is you can seldom convince someone by moral hijacking. We all have different beliefs, so the best we can do is advocate what we believe in. People have freedom to watch whatever they want. But the problem was not from other watchers, it was by the source of the content. You're right that it's fiction, but others are also right that the names were implying names in real life. My point - people should be targeting their energy on the distributors of the media, not a forum that has no real impact on the world.
I'm trying to come from an objective standpoint, no hate intended. I think most people here agree that it was inappropriate for the drama to include real-life political controversies, and for Netflix to mistranslate either unknowingly or intentionally to spread whatever propaganda for the side they are on, but I don't think arguing here helps with the situation. Here you will only be wasting your time on people who are politically neutral and don't care about what was mentioned in the drama, or people who have opposite political views as you do, whom you cannot convince anyway. No higher ups working at Netflix, MBC or the production company will read this comments section, so if anyone thinks the content in the drama is harmful, they should file a complaint to Netflix or MBC. If many ppl share the same sentiment, it could pressure them to remove that scene.
Wasn't the controversy caused by a mistranslation by Netflix? I heard the original Korean dialogue was opposite from what the subtitles said. So it sounds like Netflix is more at fault here, for misleading the audience. The production team worked hard on this drama, but their hard work went down the drain because of things they couldn't control. Although I can understand that it would've been smarter if the screenwriter didn't include any real politics in the script. It was unnecessary for the plot and could've easily been replaced by something else that was fictional. But other production crew like the actors and behind-the-scenes people, they are innocent and their careers shouldn't be impacted.
Indeed I was frustrated about him taking the noble idiocy route, but given the theme of the drama it makes sense. The theme is about communication, which the leads did not have. ML Baek Sa Eon has always made decisions by himself without much transparency, and Hee Joo literally does not speak, but throughout the story they learn the importance of openly communicating. Even till the end, ML still needs to learn to open up about his guilt instead of just running away. And Hee Joo knew the Baek family was involved in the car accident but did not talk to Sa Eon about it. They both still have room for growth before the final HE.
Really surprised the drama is being hated on for being cliche, when it never tried to be original in the first…
There's a reason why cliches never die. Because they will still be entertaining given proper execution. Because some people like and enjoy it, and I guess that's what matters. If people complain about this, then that simply means the genre is not their cup of tea, and they can just watch something else. It's not like they were tricked by false advertising.
iam just curious for people who wanted sa eon to run the psycho Wouldn’t he just get shot him or hee joo or…
It actually took him a while to load up his gun, so if ML slammed the pedal he would've been under the car by the time he could get the gun ready. My best explanation was that ML didn't want to kill him, because real SE lived a tragic life and got everything taken away by the ML. Due to guilt and sympathy, ML believed that SE deserved a resolution between the two of them, and agreed to talk to him out of respect. But honestly, I still didn't like how this played out.
Some of these reviews honestly make me think media literacy is dead.... yikes
Really surprised the drama is being hated on for being cliche, when it never tried to be original in the first place. Since the beginning it's been obvious this is a makjang drama with the "domineering CEO" vs "innocent rabbit" trope with the typical family politics, murder and people pointing guns at each other. Yes it is straight out of wattpad (English), or Junjiang literature city (Chinese) or whatever equivalent to that. And it delivered exactly that, without ever trying to confuse us into thinking it was gonna be sth else.
The director's attention to detail with the parallels is so interesting...ep 11's final "what if" moment comes…
The last montage scene was actually in Hee Joo's perspective. It was what she imagined after SE disappeared. It's her re-imagining of what would've happened if she had decided to speak up after the wedding and confess her feelings to him. It's a scene that draws parallel to the start of that episode - when SE imagined going back to ask her "how do you feel about me?" and exploring the possibility of becoming a real married couple. The episode starts with SE's perspective and question, and the episode ends with HJ's perspective and response.
