Love in this drama is pretty complex because it takes the bigger definition of it. Love in YXW perspective, we…
TTJ has different route of love in comparison to YXW/ LSS. TTJ route at least can be divided into: zero love, curiosity & first experience, obsession/ selfishness, loyalty, faithfulness & romance, and selflessness/ universal love.

In early episodes, he departed his journey from zero. All emotion is zero, including love. All of his action is based of survival instinc. He didn't understand why YXW cared for him.

He began to wonder about what love is around episode 8-10 when he was hunted by TTML and YXW came back to save him despite the danger. YXW action was in contrary to his survival instinc. YXW is expected to leave him and save her own self, so it is shocking that she stayed (whatever the reason and puspose). YXW is the person who tought him the definition of love and he used it as foundation.

It results in his obsession, why he refused YXW death, around episode 20+, and he was willing to follow YXW to die. Because of his obsession, all thing ends badly.

Scenes in Nether Realm are telling about his loyalty despite of adversity and suffering to see YXW again.

It is fruitful because later he was saved by the head of immortal sect. Here, he learnt more about human relationship. He has a master and new friends. He became a part of this group. He still love YXW but he also get the big picture, his real enemy, the greater conflict to come that threat not only YXW, but also all people in all realm. Here comes the seed of universal love (compassion, humanity).

When he saw LSS/ YXW again, he expressed his faithfulness. LSS trusted him, and their real romance finally bloomed. It peaks at episode 35.

However, the final conflict must be solved. His self-sacrifice and pretending to be evil ended the romance, but he developed a greater form of love (humanity). In return, he got LSS companionship and a good remembrance (it is not well portrayed, but it is there). Even though he ceased to exist, he isn't gone. He is still loved.

He has confessed his love for her directly three times! But she, I can't really figure out what kind of emotion…
I think it is because, logically, love should take time to evolve. This story is about enemy to lover. REAL enemy to lover. It is impossible to instantly have romantic feeling when YXW still regards him as enemy.

At what point does li susu fall in love with Tantai Jin? Was trying to figure out at what point because she wants…
Love in this drama is pretty complex because it takes the bigger definition of it. Love in YXW perspective, we can break it down at least to: care, compassion, romantic feeling, commitment, and companionship.

Care comes pretty fast in episode 1 or 2 when YXW cannot resist to not ignore TTJ in frozen lake scene. At their first meeting, she just went to her room and slept. But, knowing TTJ was still kneeling and later got sick, it drives her attention and worry of his well-being. The following episodes has this theme.

Compassion comes in episodes revealing TTJ's sad past. The story of his birth, his father and mother, his life with two nannies, and his experience as hostage prince. It drives her to set new purpose: to fix TTJ. Her efforts to fix TTJ are shown in overall mortal arc (ends badly around episode 20+, with her death as the climax).

Romantic feeling comes much later in immortal arc when finally she met TTJ/CJM. It was triggered by TTJ faithfulness in his love to her. It is depicted in scene where she realized that she couldn't master Heartless Way. The romance is suppressed at first, bloomed when they decided to marry, and seemingly almost ends when TTJ chose to become Demon God.

Commitment comes in the scene where she broke to Demon Palace. There is not problem of trust anymore here. So she came to understand TTJ's decision. They resumed their marriage even though she resented him again.

Companionship comes in the end, in last episode. She mastered Heartless Way, all clouds surrounding their circumstances cleared, she understood TTJ' heart. In the end, they are physically separated because of TTJ demise. But, she kept TTJ memory and had a daughter with him. The last scene is her waiting of him to come back in Mohe River.

PS: People are disappointed because they only expect for romantic love in all episodes. For me, it has more nuances and each kind of love is portrayed in certain episodes. If you want to see care, go to early episodes. You want to see compassion, enjoy the mortal arc. You want to see romance, go to immortal arc. You want to understand deeper form of love, watch till the end.

Stop acting like drama TTJ is most the innocent character there ever to exist. Yes, the drama did tone down his…
You should watch till the end. The story is divided into mainly two acrs, the mortal and immortal arc. Each has different purpose in TTJ character development.

What you loathed is TTJ in mortal acr. He is really pitiful but detestable. He goes from negative situation to zero and to a slightly positive, from a person who doesn't understand emotion, can't feel emotion, to a person who starts to feel and experience power, love, hate, and heart breaks intensely. Admittedly, he did many awful and inhumane things here. The results of the mortal arc are he finally humanized and realization of his true identity as devil fetus.

The second arc started from nether river and finally in immortal realm. In this acr, everything becomes less cruel and less dark. There conflicts rotated around TTJ/ CJM new and conflicting identities as a disciple of immortal sect and in the same time, a demon fetus. His character developed from slighly positive to more positive, from egoistic and self-centered love (showed in his initial obsession to YXW/ LSS) to universal love (showed when he started to care about others beside the woman he loved, e.g. his teacher, fellow disciples, people in the realm, his tribe). The final and cosmic conflict regarding good vs evil, love to others vs power, god vs demon, get a closure in the end. The result of this arc is CJM's transcendence. He didn't choose power, but use the power to love others. His self-sacrifice in the end is the manifestation of love. This is the peak of his character development.

Unfortunately, the second arc is not well presented due to episode restriction. That is external factor beyond our control. The story itself is outstanding. Even though there are things lacking here and there, the overall story is solid. We can use the novel to fill the gap. The novel is complementary and supporting material for us to understand the drama fully.

More like he surrendered to his fate, he didn't choose but he accepted it.That's what pains me and made me so…
Accepting fate is a virtue, to flow with nature is the heart of Dao. Maybe, we are difficult to understand this because we are culturally not Chinese. Please enlightn me.

She did a good deed in the end. Why do we still want to kill her? For TTJ, we want him to alive. For YBC we want her death. It is like we are in the same league of those immortals.

About Leo's emotionless in portraying Ancient Demon God reminds me about Tai Sui, the demon god in LBFD. His calmness in facing death is so contrast to panicking Tai Sui when he was almost defeated. Now I understand the supposed difference between a human and a god in a story. In many xianxia, gods and goddesses act like mere human. It is mindblowing.

I think it is because the difference in intention. Ancient Demon God aimed for destruction, so he fought and retaliated. Tantai Jin aimed for peace, so he surrendered and sacrificed himself. Maybe Li Susu is not so powerful, but who is her enemy determines the result.

Guysss I accidentally saw the comment abt the ending last nite, and now it kills my interest already. Currently…
People are disappointed because they have expectation. Some people expect this drama to end happily in accordance with their expectation. Enjoying a drama is a personal experience. To some extent, we should not let other people's experience dictate us.

We have our own purpose why we watch it. For me, my purpose is to appreciate the aestethics, the story which is anti-mainstream, the moral behind it, and the acting skill of the main leads. I am curious and want to broaden my mind by experiencing diversity in storytelling. For others, maybe they want to see romantic scenes, to see a family that happy forever, to laugh and get entertained, to relieve stress, etc.

All purpose is valid in itself, but some are more suited with the purpose of the drama, some other is not. So, my suggestion, just look into your self. What is your purpose of watching it? Do you find the story so far meet your purpose or not? If yes, keep watching. If not, give it a chance or drop it.

I have watched three of them. Blood of Youth is very good, but people still commenting its lack of romance. LBFD is very good, still people said the ending is rushed. All is good.

How about Nirvana in Fire? It is has pretty similar ending like this drama.
