- as you said, the fact that she’s a general with that physical appearance. - the fact that ml couldn’t tell that it was an imposter when they were in front of the emperor. Some said it’s because they hadn’t seen each other in a while but we can clearly see flashbacks of them studying together and they already had their adult bodies. - she survived that fall from the cliff and had that sword pierced her chest but after a month in a coma she was perfectly fine. - she’s in a camp full of soldiers but no one seems to realize that with her petite body that she’s a woman. - there’s someone who knows medicine in the camp and even him can’t tell she’s a woman? - she’s a respected general but no one knows what she looks like to the point where her brother can take over that easily, didn’t she have soldiers she trained with before? No one can tell?
The list goes on, it’s really hard to watch without having to shut down logic.
Hello, can you tell me why the reborn plot is banned in China? Is it against some major religion there? Thank…
Banning/censorship of rebirth dramas was not due to controlling the population. They were trying to prevent further tragedies from happening, because some of their young people were committing suicide in the hopes of having a chance to be reborn and start the lives all over.
This was because of the rebirth/reincarnation stories that were common in C-dramas back then.
😞 A women, raised as a man, lived as a man her entire life, now chooses to still live as a man is way more feminine than a feline. I got scammed by tik tok to watch this.
I like the story but is so unrealistic, gender bending is always a bit of brain shut but this is too much
My bigger complain, I like Zhou Ye but shes not realistically good playing as a male,
1. Couldn't they could cast somebody thinner and shorter as her brother, she was replaced by a man taller and bigger and nobody noticed 2. ML knew her since childhood, never noticed her voice and actions? 3. Zhou ye has a very feminine face, soft features, thin body, short frame, she simply looks very feminine, putting her in a ponytail don't make her male looking 4. Acting, actually she's acting very girly, not cheerful but very girly, especially with ML, I don't think I saw as girly gender bending before 5. ML is one of more manly looking leads and looks like could fit as a general so FL alongside him looks even more ridiculous trying to play as a general
Like i said, you need some brain shut in every gender bending but this drama is making it impossible even with brain shut
Story wise is okey, I liked that ML find out she's a girl fast, I don't like when ML find out at the end or later part, I like that is fast placed too.
it's just starting only 4 eps if you're disappointed don't watch then but don't discourage others here
It’s a discussion forum, not a fan club. I’m allowed to be disappointed just like others are allowed to love it. If people can praise it after 1 episode, I can say I’m not feeling it after 4.
Kinda disappointed, tbh. I expected the drama to have a darker tone since it’s a revenge story, but there are way too many funny scenes that throw off the vibe. The FL is super goofy, and even if that’s part of her act, we as viewers should still be able to see glimpses of the sharp, strategic general underneath. Aside from her fighting skills, there’s not much that shows she’s meant to be a respected general in disguise.
Watched first 5 episodes and in my opinion, You just have to suspend disbelief to enjoy this drama because He Yan looks like a woman, acts like a woman, talks like a woman, smells like a woman…to cut the long story short, she is just not believable at all as a man, but since the commander has no issues with it, I don’t have either. It will be interesting to see what funny scenarios play out between them as she keeps pretending to be a man though.
One other critic I have is that the drama didn’t allow He Yan time to really grieve and contemplate her next steps, and it lessened the emotional impact of what she went through in the hands of her family. It seemed like she fell off a cliff in one scene, and in the next scene, she is all good, and in the next scene she sets off to join the army with a goofy persona. For someone who has been subjected to such horrible tragedy back to back, it’s frankly a bizarre reaction.
In the double, another drama adaptation of this author’s work, I recall XFF was quite depressed and suicidal after her ordeal, and JL had to hold her back. In this drama, I guess He Yan is supposed to have a happy-go-lucky personality, but even a saint will be heartbroken for a short while at least after going through all that before moving on.
When I saw her fall from the cliff I said “not again! Please spare us the amnesia plot.” I thought they’d do like Princess Gambit again.
FL standing in the middle of all the soldiers clearly has the shape of a woman. Even next to the one who said he was the shortest before, she looks like a woman. Like you said, a more masculine looking FL would have been better OR more feminine looking men like in “Dominion and Devotion”.
I was really looking forward to this drama, it’s an unfortunate start.
Liu Xueyi oh Liu Xueyi, why did you always choose drama that flopped. I've not finish watching this drama, I am…
This drama didn't flop. In china the heat index reached 26000. It ranked 1st on the first week and maintained on top 3 several times. Liu Xueyi's character reached 100M popularity, while Meng Ziyi's reached 40M. This is an A level investment drama, but the broadcast impact exceeded expectations and went up to S level, which is rare for drama aired in this year. The douban rating is low bcos only 11k people voted and yk douban is mostly filled with idol haters and passersby.
You might not know. On the first day of airing, people on MDL thought this is a harem drama and they voted low scores. So this drama started with 6+ scores. But real viewers voted reasonably that it went up to 8+.
Just bcos the scores went from 8.3 to 8.1 doesn't mean the drama flopped bcos what matters is the data in china, not MDL.
This ost is so good, especially the one that ends the drama, and the hero's song (Missed gem), as well as the opening, are all very beautiful. These songs stay in my head.
This is a good drama to watch...story is good with minimum glitch. Actings by ML and FL are good and suited to their roles. The Director and production should be more alert in costume suitability for FL in some of the scenes which sometimes don't made sense. The role of 3rd Prince was also played well by GH. Anyway, I still enjoy watching this drama.
There were so many negative comments, but I worried for nothing. It’s not the best, but it’s not bad enough to drop. The peach blossom is better than the snow ending in Kill Me Love Me. 😭
I’m surprised by so many negative comments here. I actually like this drama. Liu Xue Yi delivers a phenomenal performance, and Meng Zi Yi’s acting is also quite good, although she was somewhat limited by how the FL was written midway through the drama. I also love the OST. The first 18 episodes were excellent, episodes 19-29 were just okay, and episodes 30-36 were good. I looked forward to the new episodes every day and couldn’t stop thinking about this drama each night! I can really feel the chemistry and love between the ML and FL. It would have been better if Mu Wu Yin had become the ML's love rival, but instead, he falls for the Empress, which doesn’t quite convince me
