The Manga was not that great. It had so many problems. Some parts were funny some were not. The Anime was a bit better than the Manga. The Japanese movie not so good. I don't know why they tried to do this a fourth time tbh and I don't know why I am torturing myself by watching it again (maybe I'm hoping they will change a lo of the problematic stuff)
The tension in some of the scenes was done so well. This was an amazing episode. And as I mentioned before, the music in this drama is so good! All of the songs used have been good.
Whoever did the scriptwriting didn't really think through how they wanted their characters to behave. Maze's sacrificing his love/relationship with Phap, in order for Phap to follow his dreams came out of the left field. If anything Maze doesn't care about art except if it makes him money and we have barely been given any indication that he would do anything altruistic for Phap! like I loved Maze's character because he was an a$$hole who only cared about money and his career and to me though it is qualities that not many like, I just wanted a dislikable male lead that could learn to be more than what was on the surface...some freaking character growth we barely get in BLs. In the first few episodes that is what the drama was doing well but suddenly they have shot their foot with this whacky characterization of all characters.
I can deal with dumb tropes so long as they are handled well, but some of the tropes here are just so silly. These are meant to be adults yet it doesn't feel like it. It feels like some of them are playing the character and not being the character. Honestly, one of the subplots that I had hoped they had expanded on or at least used was the idea that maybe Maze and his company were being sabotaged (Maze even alluded to this in an episode) The idea that so many unfortunate events were happening to him/his company/ it would have been so cool to have it be so and that through these things he and Phap would have solved it and also fallen for each other. I wanted Phap to peel the layers away from Maze and allowed him to finally love himself and allow others to enter his life.
As for his Nueng brother complex, this was another plot that was just not used well. They wanted to give us a misdirect in the beginning making us think that Maze and Nueg were either ex-lovers or something, but then we got told they were actually related (even if they are not blood-related) this led to misunderstanding by other characters, which still made no sense. Even if Maze and Nueg had been ex-lovers, the plot device was not being executed right.
It's obvious that Maze is obsessed with money and being the best in his career based on his past with Nueng. That his brother wanted to become famous and rich mostly because they lacked that money growing up, is why Maze also wanted to be rich and became the way he is. He wanted to keep Nueng with him because he was the only thing from his past (when he was presumably happy) and I get that. It makes his character seem real, yet they failed to convey this to us.
I hope they do something totally different in the next two episodes to get these characters in the right place, but I'll be holding my breath.
I'm saying this as someone who was really enjoying the drama until the last two epsides. Someone just ruined it and I wonder if there were multiple writers since a lot of the episodes don't seem to flow well into each other.
I came here to read some discussions about the new episode and I was not expecting the amount of clowns and war.…
what would you like to dicuss? I too wanted to do some dicussions about the episode (I made a general comment during the airing episode) but I'm still so giddy aobut some theories!
I hope that there's more than 14 ep cuz they're still filming and changing the scripts
They are? Whoa...that means they are probably looking at fans comments and critiques so they might be able to change the direction of certain stories. Has this been confirmed, about the still filming?
so, I've had a subscription to Gagaoolala this past month, also considered keeping it for another, even though…
You aren't the first person who's had this issue. I saw several comments on twitter. It sucks.
I don't understand why they [Gagaoolala] can't just put the episodes up on their Youtube channel. They have one which is also annoying with their "teasers." if the idea is for them to buy the rights to air a drama and make money off of it, you'd think they would at least do it through streaming sites like YT that generates money. They could do like some other Thai channels have done where they air the paid episode and days later that same episode airs on YT.
The thing is that many of them do not even have the ability and comprehension skills to grasp what is happening…
I don't know about this whole Western spoonfeeding...if anything I find that Thai BLs have been spoonfeeding the fujoshi for quite a while sacrificing actual storytelling and character development for the sake of fantasy. If anything, Not Me is pretty much more Western Style than other Thai BLs, even the music Score is pretty Western.
Just a question: Why the F is Gumpa not joining the gang on their field trips ?
For me there are many theories as to why. The main one is that they need someone out there who can bail them out if things go bad (i.e. arrest)
The other one is that he is acctually working for the police? He might be an officer?
Also, he had all these other men with him to do a test (when they ambused White) makes me wonder how big their gang is? Maybe he is part of a bigger gang?
This series had an interesting concept and story. But as u continue watching u will find this series goes further…
Why would they suspect him to be a fake? They have no idea that Black has a twin. that's why they think that White posing as Black is just him not being his usual self and they are chucking it all to the "almost died" incident and that's why they think he's changed.
Also, the plot is pretty straightforward in what these characters are doing. They want to take down a corrupt man with deep pockets. Their motivations are different from each other. For Sean, his motivation is the death of his father by Tawi's men and Tawi's money buying the police/government so it is very personal. He is at a point where he doesn't care if the missions are suicidal, he has given up anything else except REVENGE for his father. For Black (the actual one) we don't know if it has to do with his mother's job and maybe her being corrupt or something else. that will be revealed later. For White, his motivation isn't even Tawi, it is finding out who hurt Black and he is being led by Todd and told that it has to be one of his gang mates, but we know that's probably not true (or maybe it might be)
The other characters also have their reasons. Yok is doing it for his mother and all of the people who have disabilities and are being discriminated against. Tawi is the representation of a company that exploits or doesn't hire these individuals.
For Gram, he is idealistic and wants to root out the problem from the government/courts. The way he speaks as a future lawyer is one of FOR the PEOPLE.
As for Gump, I suspect that it has to do with him being blamed for something (maybe the twist will be that he was the one that killed Sean's father or knows the person who did it and was going to give them up, but he got blamed)
In the end, the motivation for all of them is PERSONAL first and Societal second.
And of course, they are whinny impulsive...These are still kids. Basically, you are watching 19-21 years old taking on the world. They aren't even fully mature. They act before they think. Some, like White, are the opposite because White is a by-the-rules type of person. He was raised to follow what his father said, so breaking laws and rules are in conflict with him trying to act like Black.
Have you never met a college kid that could probably beat the sh&& out of you? I've met high schoolers bigger than me and I wouldn't be surprised if they could take down grown A&& men (I've seen it done in my field of work)
Anyways this was a longer comment than I wanted to write.
I am so baffled by the characterization of Phap. For the very first few episodes when he realized he was in love with Maze, he made sure to woo him and even tell him how he felt, but when it comes to Nueng he can't even articulate how he feels? They are making him this sulky childish person, who in the beginning was straightforward and very "zen" like. I get it falling in love makes you stupid at times and illogical, but his character is just being assassinated.
Don't get me started on Nueng. What right did he have to "test" Phap, when the man has risked his life TWICE to save him? Nueng should be kissing the ground Phap touches and if he really cares for his "brother" Maze, then he should be HELPING Phap win Maze over. Like how immature are these GROWN a&& people? Sure this is supposed to be dramedy but the drama is really outshining the comedy here. This should be a very simple plot, but they are making it unnecessarily dumb.

Good luck for the rest of the episodes.

Still love the show though LOL
