I agree with every single point you made!! The show's premise was fresh and it kept me on my toes. I've watched quite a few kdramas, so I'm well acquainted with common drama tropes and predict most plots. But I never quite knew what to expect plot-wise throughout the drama. And there were so many beautiful touching moments between our two main leads!
However, as you said, it felt very rushed (especially towards later episodes) and lacked depth in certain plot points (depth of side characters and their storylines, further explanation of the alternate reality mc was in, what was causing system errors etc).
why is the ratinng so loww bro i checked it a few days ago and it was like 8.3 and now 8.1??
I'm guessing because there are some questionable plot choices. The show is overall amazing and really engaging in all aspects (plot premise + chemistry between leads + perfect mix of humor, action and romance + top-tier cinematography, especially for a thai drama, etc).
But... 1) Kinn had s*x with Porsche for the first time while he was completely drugged. While Porsche seemed to be vocal/enthusiastic about it, he was still drugged and therefore not in control/unable to consent. And Kinn was completely sober, and was fully aware of Porsche drugged state, yet chose to continue
2) Vegas and Pete's relationship. I don't mean the BDSM part, but the fact that they are literally a case of Stockholm or Lima syndrome (or both). Which is a bit of a questionable choice, yet given the context of the drama/mafia themes, it can be still understood (but might have made some people uncomfortable about it)
3) The fact that the leads are (step) cousins. They are not blood related, and weren't raised as cousins, but I can understand how some people still find it a bit weird
As I said, as many, I really enjoyed this drama and there's so many things they got right. But I think these three points might be the main reasons people have lowered the rating-- especially given bls have progressively become healthier/less rapey
Could anyone help me out, by clarifying? I'm still confused about who actually killed Porsche's father (and what really happened to the mother). Was it actually Vega's father who shot the father, and then molested the mother (leading her to take the pills)? Or was Vega's father partially telling the truth about Papa lying about the whole thing?
Reasons why I'm asking: - Towards the end Papa says "It's only the victor who gets to tell history" (or something like that), which implies he lied, at least partly, about what really happened to Porsche's parents.
- Vega's father was about to say something regarding Porsche's mother but Papa shot him straight in the head to prevent him from finishing whatever he was about to say + Porsche's "uncle" was shot right before saying the name of who shot the dad (speaking of which, I'm still confused on who shot him, and on whose orders)
- Also, why was the mother acting so weird when hugging her kids? I get she supposedly doesn't remember much, but she was still acting very weirdly idk
I'm just confused with so many contradicting versions of truth, so I'd really appreciate it if someone shares their thoughts on what really happened
With all that shooting on the last episode. How many of the bodyguards are left besides Pete and Porsche?
I kept thinking about this. With guards dying by the masses in each mission, surely they can't be replaced that fast/substantially. Even if they kept recruiting new bodyguards, the bodyguard team will always be mostly rookies bc they don't live long enough to get experienced ajhahah
MAJOR TRIGGER WARNINGIf you are thinking of watching Bed Friend, go for it. It's such a great drama, the acting…
THIS!! I was not expecting that plot point AT ALL. There's no hint whatsover in the synopsis about it, so I really went in blind. I felt so triggered throughout due to past experiences. They should def have included a trigger warning, especially bc it's not only mentioned but also visually shown.
That said, I loved how they dealt with it, and it's truly a beautiful drama
Tbh even if she didn't accuse Jungwon, they will all gonna die anyway. That Jin Dabeom shibal seki will still…
but like.. the civilians are also murderers. They may not kill directly with their hands, but they are executing by vote. I don't get those double moral standards. There's no way of keep your hands clean if you are playing that game and want to survive. Both teams partake in executing.
If I were the fl, I'd be more hang up on the reason why her bff became a mafia-- what was her role in the girl's death? what kind of person was she before the game? That's way more relevant than the fact she has been killing civilians during the night (which she has no choice in doing so, if she wants to survive)
mina made me cringe so bad at how hard she was trying to please the others so they wouldn't kill her. "Let me clean the noodles off your shoes." "I've always wanted to be close with you and Yoon Seo." "I feel like we are best friends already" girl bffr
So the mafias stabbed the dude during the night and framed him right ? why are they the only smart one in this…
ikr. the civilians have such a herd mentality. like they'll vote someone out at the slightest piece of 'evidence' without thinking critically and just mindlessly follow whoever starts voting first. I'd understand for there to be a couple dumb players in a drama like this... but all of them are annoyingly gullible, even the mcs.
why are all the players so dumb? I love the main plot of this drama, but damn I can't deal with the stupidity…
how dumb do they have to be to let Da Beom off the hook again... at this point, after all the proof that Da Beom is mafia (first bully's murder of passion + other two bullies framed, bully's phone Da Beom was in charge of, found elsewhere + his laptop being used & him being in the room when the CCTV footage was destroyed + him trying to delete footage now), and they still don't vote him out, they all deserve to die lmao
why are all the players so dumb? I love the main plot of this drama, but damn I can't deal with the stupidity of all the civilians anymore. Acting like NPCs fr
