I like the step by step plan that DJY carried out... that's how a revenge story should be told.
In this drama, I can see the scriptwriter didn't make the revenge plan suspenseful and mysterious enough so that the audience can appreciate and hook on it like Nirvana in Fire. I remember in Nirvana in Fire, the revenge plot was also fully revealed at the last 2 episodes.

The planning and scheming that Han Ye had carried out at age 14 to rescue Wen Shou was amazing that nobody suspected his real identity... even DJY couldn't tell.
Han Ye had to stab himself purposely and was bedded for months just that the little beggar boy could rescue him and he could bring him back to palace without suspicion.

Earlier episodes had a scene which RenAnle said to Han Ye straight face that any situation that came his way even the unexpected problems, he would make it a win situation for him and his country

Totally agree... the adaption didn't do justice in letting the audience to appreciate and understand the reason for characters' behaviour.
The adaption simplified and even remove many plots and characters that resulted in illogical sequence it.
For instance,
1. Han Ye has many siblings, which was never mentioned...
The event in Jiangnan was triggered by Prince Mu (Han Ye eldest brother) siphoning the money from the flood relief to finance his personal army so that he could fight for the throne. Minister Gu was involved because he's backing Prince Mu.
The court was divided into few factions: Minister Gu supported Prince Mu, Minister Jiang supported Nine Prince and Minister Wen supported Han Ye.
I find the lack of this political factions adapted and explained the in the drama didn't make the drama viewer understand and appreciate the reasons for the events that happen and would happen later ie. Yuan Qin 's biological family massacre.
2. The wuxia element was never mentioned in the drama...
Han Ye had mastered his internal power skill from a grandmaster in Yonning which was why RenAnle mentioned that JianSong couldn't beat him, and even Jian Song was surprised how powerful he was. Would there be a mentioned of the few Grandmasters later who eventually injured Han Ye in the mountains and resulted both Han Ye and RenAnle fell from the cliff and triggerthe return of Di Shengtian? And the Grandmasters that joint hands with Bei Kingdom to attack Dajing and resulted the "death" of the Crown prince? I'm just curious as to what illogic reasons the drama will create to show how these would happen.
