Really need to give a round of applause to the older generation of actors involved in this drama! The grandma, the parents, the emperor, etc! Without them, this drama would honestly not be as entertaining as it is now!
Yes! I agree completely. It was a refreshing, mature, well-written script. I would have liked just a few more…
For once, the whole confessing in the last ten minutes and getting together at the end, really worked out! I was cheering for LJM the entirety of the last episode despite hating his guts at the start. The fact that literally everyone was stealing his attempted confession limelight cracked me up. As you said, so satisfying and well-written. The realism is what really makes this drama. Sometimes you're in the mood for a romantic and cute drama but those are a dime a dozen in any dramaland. A drama with a proper take on real-life situations with real-life responses is rare.
Well said. Couldn’t agree more… I thought it would have been rushed…. But completely not…. I cried at…
The way they wrapped everything up so neatly in the last episodes was so well done! (I've been watching this drama with my Mom too and even she said "Now that's an ending!"). Truly quality writer, directing and acting!!
Now this is a proper ending! I rarely find myself satisfied with the last episode of ANY Chinese drama but Master of My Own has done it! I'm left wanting for absolutely nothing.
This truly has been a drama with which the main focus was on the female lead. It was Ning Meng's story from beginning to end, and her growth from being a secretary to becoming the boss of her own company is truly worth the watch. I'm thankful to the director, scriptwriter and the actors for the overall amazing job they've done. This is what it is like to have a female lens behind the camera and I can only hope there will be more dramas coming out of China like this one!! What a refreshing take it is that romance isn't the savior (nor does it need to be the main focus of a drama) and that one needs to be their own saving grace. Kudos to MoMo and all the hardworking staff that contributed to it!
There are some tags on this drama that totally misled me. Romance. Comedy. Ive just completed episode 31. No romance…
Don’t think that the leads’ real life has anything thing to do with the lack of romance in this drama. This is most definitely not a romance focused drama and I don’t think it’s advertised as such in China either. I think after 30 episodes it’s clear this is a workplace drama that’s focused on NM’s individual growth rather than her love life. It’s not straight up comedy either but I definitely laughed at certain lines in each episode but not sure if that’s due to the native Chinese humor that doesn’t translate well. It’s more dry humor than anything.
TSY’s currently filming drama, Road to Home, just released a preview and in it she has a kiss scene. That’s definitely a pure romance drama more along the lines of what you’re looking for if you want something like YAMG.
Round of applause please for the drama's costume department because NM always looks 150% in every suit she's wearing. I have placed 4 separate orders for oversized blazersAND fitted suit sets since I started watching the drama. Thank you for helping this petite, "fun-sized" girl out.
Also, was literally clapping my hands during NM's entire convo with that Qiu bastard. In TSY's own words, I'm NM's super fan!
Don't think the companies would publicly state what level this project is at but from the sets etc, looks to be…
The companies, in this case Tencent, do not state it publicly. They don’t go around saying “Here’s Heroes, an S/S+ drama!”. You’re probably referring to a marketing or a drama weibo account that got that information. Lists like that aren’t 100% accurate either.
As far as I know, Heroes built some of their own sets in Hengdian which would mean they have a pretty sizable budget.
Somebody please let me know if this is S+, S, B or A budget drama?
Don't think the companies would publicly state what level this project is at but from the sets etc, looks to be S at least. Not that that really matters tho IMO as in the past few years, ALL the S+ projects have performed less than stellar in China.
Agree! I accept that people can use growth and forgiveness for past mistakes, but LJM hasn't apologized even once…
I think LJM acknowledging he’s got a bad temper is the most we’ll get for now. Although in some previews it seems like he knows he doesn’t really deserve her so maybe we’ll get a proper apology? Fingers crossed!
Is there a love trainable and is it a slow burn romance?
It’s very slow burn in that romance isn’t really the main focus of the drama. Female lead does date someone that isn’t the male lead for a period of time but it’s obvious that end game will be male lead x female lead. If you want a pure romance drama, then this isn’t going to be it!
I'm still on #NingMengDon'tNeedAMan train. SWR is a shit boyfriend. If he raises his hand once against his significant other, he'll do it again. There is no such thing as "I promise I won't do it again". LJM is pitiful and I really look forward to NM helping him to rebuild and starting their company together but I'm still not 100% sold on them as a couple. I dislike it when people use the excuse of protection as a reason for the things they've said or done. Seems like that's been resolved but still >.>
I think it's bc I had low expectations when I started the drama bc I'm completely ok with where it started and how it's going, lol. I was actually quite disappointed with early trailers when it was being marketed as a rom-com/romantic office setup and am really glad it didn't end up that way.
Judging from the previews for tomorrow, the drama will progress without dragging things out too much. I'm kind of hoping they simply end with them kissing/getting their own company off the grounds together. Considering the type of character they've set NM up as, I don't think she needs a wedding crammed in at the end.
Totally fucked the drama , already 26 episode gone and with 6 more to go I think the SML love story is extremely…
SWR and the others purposely planned it so that the only route LJM had was to buy stocks to his father's company with his own money. Whether NM told SWR or not, that was the only possible step he could've taken. It was a trap from the very beginning when LJM's father recruited the company to buy stocks and not NM's fault.
Shoot, I forgot about Flight to You! Also looking forward to that bc of Wang Kai! TSY and Wang Kai pairing sounds interesting and hopefully good! She does tend to have good chemistry with her costars.
Well, to be fair to NM as well, I wouldn't feel comfortable with my boyfriend either if he has obvious anger management…
His last relationship really did a number on him mentally. He seemed more upset at LJM during that poker game vs when NM rejected his advances. I do think he cares about NM but I don’t think he’s in the relationship for the right reasons.
Pls lol T__T I just finished re-reading the novel yesterday so now my mind is filled with scenes of them courtesy of the preview. My only hope is since it’s a modern drama, the post production shouldn’t be too long. Maybe a Q4 2022, early 2023 air date can be achieved!!!
