Wow, I have no words. The first episode was beautiful. The young actors playing Mok Ha and Ki Ho were phenomenal (plus the casting is so on point, they look like real younger versions of the actors). I did not expect to get so emotional watching the very first episode, but I am so glad the story is so much more than what we expected. The backstory is so powerful and I want nothing but the best for both Mok Ha and Ki Ho. The cast is so dynamic in this show, and it sure did not disappoint, the first episode already started very strong. I cannot wait for when Ki Ho and Mok Ha will finally reunite <3
After reading this whole thread, I would like to put across a point: it's not that the standard of a k-drama is…
Actors and their companies negotiate fees based on many variables, if we take Park Eun Bin, she was paid approx 100 million KRW per ep before the success of Attorney Woo, but she got paid 200 million KRW per ep after, almost double because many producers and companies wanted her in their project, which led to her and her company to renegotiate her fees since she very much in demand and also because she was being offered higher fees. So yes, fees are probably renegotiated for new projects depending on the popularity or success of the actor and how well they did in their last project. The more an actor is sought after and in demand the more money they are likely to make. These figures were from this article from last year, and Park Eun Bin has been very popular throughout the year so she could be earning even more. There is not much info in regards to this, but I don't think actors would just stick to the same fees for different projects, especially because different roles require different kinds of preparations with some roles requiring physical changes and training or research, so it would be absurd for them to not try to negotiate. Also, this would be much easier for popular actors, so maybe rookie or less-known actors may have difficulties in negotiating each time.
Another short drama. Why do these a actors take these things. They lose a ton of money every time they do. I'll…
After reading this whole thread, I would like to put across a point: it's not that the standard of a k-drama is 16 ep, it was just the most popular format so far, however, that did not mean that shorter episode dramas did not exist previously. Following recent viewer trends and international broadcasting platforms, it has been noticed that shorter dramas have been doing better overall. It's not even the dragginess or filler episodes, cos there can be boring 12 eps dramas that people struggle to finish, it is just more profitable and better for the actors as well. Nowadays, actors don't rely solely on acting to make a living, they have brand deals and ambassadorships worth millions in some cases, as well as ads and so much more. And many popular actors have been choosing shorter dramas themselves, as they are perhaps more appealing to them for various reasons, as well as making time for themselves and other activities. There are still many 16 ep dramas, but they may be losing popularity, but it's not like they will disappear. Your point sounded very much like a k-drama is supposed to be 16 eps and when a 12 ep drama comes that must be a 16 drama ep cut down by 4 eps. This is not the case as the drama was created and the actors were approached for a 12 ep format. The thing with actors is that in dramas they are paid per episode at a price that has been fixed by them and their companies previously with the production, so they are not losing as they knew and agreed on that format. In the Suzy example, it's not like she had a loss, as she's been paid no matter if the dramas have been good or bad and in South Korea, the actor brand reputation ranking index is what matters the most anyway. With all this, all I wanted to say was that 16 episodes were never standard. Hence, the calculations you are doing are very personal to you, in my opinion at least, as you compare every drama to 16 eps format as if that is the standard. Also, in the end, it's mostly the crews that have losses, as writers for example are rarely paid what they fully deserve.
Omg!! What's with the poster!!?? I love it so much wth!! Nov 24 is so far away TT Also, please, I hope this is as good as it looks from their chemistry and visuals.
Just finished watching it and I definitely agree. I can't believe how good this is for a 2 episode show! Inspiring,…
Yeah, definitely did not expect this when I started it. I just wanted to wacth something so bad and didn't feel like playing anything from my currenlty watching list (which btw are mostly on air dramas I was all caught up on TT) or start a new drama. I almost want to rewatch it now TT
Omg this was so so good!! I liked this better than some longer dramas, which may sound ridiculous since this was just a two-episode drama special, but this was so easy to watch and had all the elements a good rom-com needs. The historical and time travel concept did not drag, and the ending was satisfying. For two one-hour episodes, this was perfect. Also, they were so cute together, I kept smiling and giggling like an idiot TT
Omg the date is finally here!! Kyungsoo sounds amazing in the teaser, I can't wait for the movie to finally be out, we waited so long for Actor Kyungsoo in movies again!!
Omg omg omg I know many people have already mentioned this, but the poster looks so good!! And Lee Dong Wook looks even better!!
The length is just perfect as well, I find that 12 eps dramas somehow have been working better lately rather than 16 eps that at times end up ruining the whole vibe of a good drama. All of a sudden I'm so excited!! Can May 6 come faster?
is this originally supposed to be 8 eps or some parts were cut off bc of itaewon tragedy?
I think it was just 8 eps. There are still Halloween scenes in it so I guess they just waited a while before releasing it as a sign of respect or maybe they even removed something but I noticed the Halloween scenes and remembered that that was the reason why it was said to be delayed.
This man is such a talented actor. I've seen him in Remember with Nam Joo Hyuk and in Reborn Rich with Song Joong Ki and it's fascinating how he can pull such older characters out so naturally. Like I was so shocked seeing that in real life he looks so much younger than his age, but the mannerism and character portrayal in these 2022 projects were amazing. Really looking forward to seeing more of him
Omg, I have seen her around in so many kdramas and just now discovered she is a K-pop idol too!! WOW!! I would love to see her in lead roles in the future, she's such a great actress!!
is jinyoung just a guest appearance?? havent watched it yet
I think so, cos now the story will revolve around Jin Do Joon and Jinyoung's character is more related to Yoon Hyun Woo, who dies and is reborn as Do Joon. You will understand better after you watch the episode, I don't want to spoil it for you :)

Netflix k-dramas rarely have that many episodes, unless they make multiple seasons.
But I loved this way too much. And I cannot lie, but the final episode seemed way too rushed.
