I didn't think that because they had already told in a previous episode that his friend had a girlfriend. He was the only one on the volleyball team that was dating. Well before Ida and Aoki. And he already knew about Ida and Aoki's relationship. He had taken over Ida's duties after volleyball practice so Ida could go out with Aoki. I don't think he would really do that if he liked Ida.

I agree Aoki did overreact a little. But i think it is because he is unsure of Ida's feelings and uncertain about their relationship. I think he was trying to be cool at first and giving Ida time to figure out his feelings. But the longer it took the more unsure and insecure he became until he lost it. But i also think you are right about Ida, he doesn't know how to show his emotions fully yet. He may not even completely understand them yet, considering Aoki is the first person he ever liked. But Aoki isn't confident so he wants clarity. And yes the plot is amazing, the whole drama is amazing.

@yui-jae is right. Aoki hides it because of homophobia. It is in Japan and unfortunately being gay is till very much looked down upon and discriminated against there as well as other Asian countries. That's been shown in almost every Asian BL ever.
Do you not remember the way the new teacher Mr. Okano acted when he found out about Aoki and Ida. He treated Aoki differently after that. He freaked out when Aoki got close to him, thought Aoki was attracted to him and trying to hit on him. Broke his promise to treat Aoki to ramen. And even accused Aoki of trying to sell himself to that old man all because Aoki likes a guy. Aoki even told that teacher that he is still the same person and doesn't want to be treated differently or discriminated against because he likes a guy. But unfortunately him and Ida both could face that kind of treatment and discrimination if not worse if they make their relationship public. So i can understand Aoki being scared and worried about that. Not just for himself but also for Ida.
But you say if Aoki doesn't want to be treated like a friend then he shouldn't hide the relationship. If Ida is serious about the relationship then he should be clear about his feelings instead of saying he doesn't know if he likes Aoki. That is what caused all this mess because Aoki doesn't know how Ida really feels. Yes Ida is always happy and smiling when with Aoki. Yes they are dating and held hands. But Ida is dating him and holding his hand all while being unsure about his feelings. So how is Aoki supposed to be sure when Ida isn't. Some people, Aoki included don't pick up on hints they need to be told clearly what the other person is thinking and feeling. Ida has yet to do that but yet all the blame is being put on Aoki?
