The episode flew by so quickly. I haven’t felt this for a K-drama in a while lol. Usually, I find 1-hour-10-minute episodes too long and keep checking the remaining time, wondering when they’ll end, but not with this drama.
I've never really thought Lee Junho was that attractive before when I saw him in Just Between Lovers and KTL but he looks extra fine here. This is the first time I was captivated by him lol. Might be because the character itself is quite attractive too, charm and personality wise. Also, his acting is very good and natural here. He suits the carefree, sheltered rich kid character really well.
I wonder what the budget of this drama was and where it was filmed... The 1990s set seems detailed, elaborate and convincing. It seems better portrayed than 2521 which is set in the same period.
Cann't get over his dramas..he is amazing ..his voice just 🔥🔥This drama really good too ..I couldn't skip…
His attractive, deep voice might be his greatest asset as an actor. I replayed many scenes just to hear his great voice. I don't remember the last time I've been so captivated by an actor's voice and line delivery.
The number of times I rewatched the interrogation scene between Ding Qi and Ye Kun in episode 7 just to hear Bai Jingting's exceptional dialogue delivery... He has a really, really great voice and is such a charismatic actor too like ugh I’m simply impressed.
the beauty filter in this drama goes crazy... ofc i know xianxia often use beauty editing to a certain extent but something about the filter here make their face look a little too fake like it's way too shiny and polished reminds me of those pics edited with snow app
This is the K-drama of the year for me!!! Great writing, beautiful ost and cinematography, phenomenal acting from both leads 💯 The emotions I felt while watching this drama will be unforgettable 🫶
That Sheng Cheng guy was so freaking annoying and insufferable like I've never been so annoyed with a character. Yu Nian is so much better than me. If it were me, I'd curse and slap tf out of him already. There's nothing likeable about his personality at all regardless his feelings or situation. He's the main reason why I can't fully love the drama. I wish the writer made him a little likable I don't get why must his personality written to be so insufferable.
I feel like people fake outrage about this drama just to have something to b*tch about, the fictional politics…
Unification has its own advantages. For example, it could address South Korea's declining birth rate by integrating North Korea's population. South Korea would also gain access to North Korea’s human capital and labor resources, which could alleviate the economic stagnation associated with late-stage capitalism. There are plenty of growth potential from economic aspects if they were to integrate. Think about the Asian Tiger that happened between 1950s and 1990s.
Admittedly, unification is challenging if citizens on both sides aren’t open to embracing each other. After decades of separation, younger generations lack the same attachment to the Korean Peninsula as older generations did.
Also, I don’t believe North Korea seeks war, provided they aren’t provoked. Their nuclear arsenal serves as a deterrent, ensuring their survival against perceived threats, particularly from the United States, based on lessons from past conflicts.
The first step toward unification is educating citizens in both South and North Korea to dismantle deep-seated prejudices, rather than perpetuating divisive propaganda. However, most South Korean media outlets align with the mainstream narrative influenced by the United States, often portraying North Korea as a monolithic threat. This reinforces negative stereotypes and hinders mutual understanding. Similarly, North Korea’s media propagates an image of South Korea as a puppet of Western imperialism, further entrenching hostility among its citizens.
Overcoming these barriers requires open dialogue, people-to-people cultural exchange, and exposure to accurate information about each other’s societies. Without addressing these ingrained biases, fostered by decades of propaganda, the younger generations which already disconnected from the idea of a unified Korea, will struggle to embrace a shared identity, making unification a distant goal.
Finally finished this drama, took me so long. Tbh it's hard to get back to it once you paused watching for several days (was so busy at the time) bc there's nothing really gripping about the plot nor the characters for me to pick up from where I left. It was good but it wasn't the kind that consume your entire being nor made you feel emotionally attached. Ntm you can kind of predict how the story is going to unfold. But bc I'm the type who have to finish everything I watch, I still continued watching. So if you plan to watch this drama, I rec to try to binge it without pausing the watch for too long, otherwise it may be hard find the mood to pick it up again.
Despite all, this drama was still a good watch overall. The first half of the drama was the most solid part imo. The production is stunning especially during the battle scenes. Other fighting scenes were well-choreographed and satisfying to watch too. Zhou Ye portrayed He Yan so well, the role is imo destined for her. There's not much romance but the chemistry is pretty good, though it isn't the kind that lingers on your mind after finishing it. Maybe bc the romance isn't so well-fleshed out, I don't really feel much about them as romantic partners. Individually, they're charming though. I think they have better chemistry offscreen. The best part about the drama might be the different friendships portrayed in it, especially between the Yezhou Garrison squad!
Random thought, which I know is kinda impossible to happen, but imagine Bai Jingting and Jun Jihyun acting opposite each other in a spy thriller movie. The visuals, the charisma and the acting skill goddd that'd be truly a dream comes true. I wish there's a producer out there that have this vision T-T
I wish the storyline execution and sound editing could be better, but all in all, I'm still glad to see the new sides and possibilities of BJT as an actor through this role as Ding Qi. He's such a delight to watch and one of the Chinese actors with the best screen presence. I hope he'll be cast in better action/suspense drama or film bc he'd be perfect fit for these genres. He’s already shown he’s a natural at commanding the screen with effortless charisma, exceptional line delivery and gripping performances that captivate the viewers.

"Do you have to bet against me" was such crazy thing to say to your Chief.
