I want to suggest Shine on me. A romance by the master romance screen writer Gu Man, who wrote You are my glory and Love 020, so you know what you’re getting. Be warned, the first 4 eps we pretty much do not see the ML, this is because at first FL has a crush on the 2ML during her college days. But due to misunderstandings, a toxic 2FL and an insecure and indecisive 2ML, FL decides to move on from this crush slowly but surely. ML and FL start off at odds due to a misunderstanding on ML’s part leading him to treat her a little harshly at work, but don’t worry this doesn’t last long, only about 3 eps and he never goes over board just gives her extra work/work over time. Soon after ML decides to move on from this grudge (it later gets fully cleared up) and ML’s feelings for FL quickly grow as they share more time together. Eventually, ML confesses to FL, but she tells him she is not over her first crush yet (around ep 12ish). ML takes this incredibly graciously, telling her not to be sorry and telling her he’ll wait, while continuing to pursue her respectfully. We enter a period of incredible cuteness and fluff while ML slowly wins FL over with his unconditional kindness and care, something FL has never experienced before, as he continues to pursue her.
They go on a number of cute non-date dates, and continue to flirt and grow closer. I also love how FL tells herself to be courageous and not let her past affect her future, and afterwards she tells ML to openly chase her, regardless of gossip or anything else (I love this because work gossip is so often used as an excuse for noble idiocy but not here), she tells him she wants to see what he’s capable of, and my does he bring it. An absolutely perfect green flag ML. You can see them slowly growing closer, spending more time together on non-date, dates and slowly you see FL regaining her joy and enthusiasm that she lost a little of because of 2ML and her past experiences. The key turning period though was the ski trip arc. An arc where you clearly see FL falling for ML, to the point of not even realizing when 2ML is in the room for a little while due to a situation that occurred where she had to rush and find ML.
Pretty much from like ep 11/12 onwards, once ML confesses, even though FL says she is not completely over her crush, she welcomes ML’s pursuit and they pretty much enter an unofficial dating phase that’s incredibly cute and warm, making you constantly smile. Not too long after the ski trip arc, FL confesses back to ML and asks him to date, officially getting together in ep 24. From there out it’s a perfect relationship, no break ups, no misunderstandings or arguments, a perfect green flag relationship. Also love how we got to see a good portion of their married life with a kid also in the final ep, so often this is cut out or not included.
Sometimes you need a feel good, light, fluffy, full of happiness romance to escape a stressful day, this is perfect for that. As soon as ML got over his grudge/misunderstanding around ep 8 or 9, from then on just cuteness and happiness, seeing ML chase FL and them acting like a couple before they even are. Seeing ML slowly melt FL and seeing her be so open and cute with ML, even before being official is so sweet.
Don’t get more wrong there a few annoying and toxic/trashy side characters, but no matter what, ML and FL’s relationship shines through. They provide a true dose of happiness constantly, making you feel warm and fuzzy as you watch their romance. They are committed to each other and don’t let anything get in the way, overcoming the few obstacles thrown at them by the toxic side characters together with no effort, even before they become official and obviously also after. A perfect relationship and another top tier cdrama romance by Gu Man, one of the best romance cdramas in a long time in my opinion.
Sorry for the long review, but Shine on me is really worth it if you're looking for a stress free, cute romance that makes you smile after a long day.
Too sweet, too much happiness. I love it. So many details, so many moments, when they had their little walk through Wuxi and FL gave ML her food to hold and eat, before she texted her cousin. I love how she waited a little bit, waited to see him eat the food she was just eating, then her little smile when he did.
The hand holding, the loving glances at work, the boasting by ML to his doctor friends. The inability for either of them to wait before sharing the news. At the banquet thing, how FL's uncle was so supportive and taking photos and videos for FL's mother was brilliant. I love how they didn't wait before letting everyone know and holding hands in-front of everyone at the birthday banquet. The signing of ML's hand by FL, their university lecture date acting like students. Their phone calls, FL standing up for ML at the party walking straight to him when he's being disrespected. Also how FL has no worries about asking/ordering ML to pick her upper accompany her to the lecture, no barriers or awkwardness at all, love it. And so much more, all just too cute.
All so sweet I feel like I'm about to get diabetes or something but I love it. Sometimes you need a comfort drama, low stress, low angst, a happy, cute and easy watch for when life gets tough or you've had a stressful day. For me before my go to cdramas for that were You are my glory and Meet yourself, now this is added to that list for sure.
the more hate the actor got because of ZX, it shows he is doing a very good job..happy for all the casts..i hope…
100%, LWM pretty new to the industry but already had support roles in some very successful/rated highly dramas so looking forward to him getting some main roles in the future
