I haven't watched this one, but I have done my research. According to different sources, they get married on episode…
I know what you mean for sure, I feel like it's definitely worth a watch though, don't let me discourage you, I think the break ups and all that sound worse than they are actually. Didn't mean to make it sound that bad, I know what you mean though if I read my comments on this drama I would probably be unsure as well, just wanted to provide some context and all that though, I felt like it sounds worse than it is though and I really did enjoy the drama and romance a lot though which I tried to make clear. The romance is very good and is actually not too slow burn besides ml's hidden identity, fl falls in love with ml at first sight, they fall for each other very quickly, and besides the first war separation, the other two are resolved so quick they feel minor, definitely worth a watch.
Just like you I normally hate those unnecessary breaks ups and slow burn just to break up, and all that, but here it just didn't feel that bad, I think its a mix of ml and fl obviously liking each other so much and the other one/two separations after the war one are resolved so quickly they feel inconsequential. If the separations after war lasted longer I would have gotten annoyed I won't lie, but they both are resolved within an ep or two that they feel so minor it's not bad. Sounds worse than it is but just wanted to provide some extra info for those that care in my previous comment, but worth a watch for sure. The romance is pretty good and overall it's a pretty enjoyable drama.
I wanted to quickly mention this kdrama for people, In your radiant season. It's very good, just from what I remember probably my favorite kdrama of the year so far, but it does have a break up near the end, but was a necessary one. Very nice romance, very good cast with pretty much no annoying characters except one that pops up in the last 2/3 eps. Ml and fl have a past but not a cliche past like you would expect, big twist, seeing ml romance fl is very sweet. Due to past trauma fl is a closed person, but ml slowly opens her up, bringing back her old personality and healing her. Very cute romance, they get together from memory around ep 7, but their transition from fl being cold and aloof, then friendship then romance is very sweet to watch, but break up in ep 11. It was coming and was a necessary break up so although it hurt to watch, it was necessary for the plot so I understand it, they get back together around half way ep 12, and He after, although ending was little rushed which was a tiny bit annoying.
But this drama shines in the journey, the process, seeing ml slowly get fl to open up and seeing fl become more lively due to ml was very sweet, seeing fl fall for ml was also very nice and romantic, a very sweet and wholesome romance. Also a couple other very cute side romances, and the overall cast was great, like I said no real annoying characters at all, except final 2/3 eps one does come. No 2fl or 2ml at all. A very worthy kdrama to watch, a mix of romance but also healing, with both ml and fl having traumatic past, and seeing them both heal each other was very endearing. Not many clichés, it's a romance healing kdrama that was very enjoyable I felt. The absolute lack of any real annoying characters for the majority of the drama was very enjoyable. Some twists and turns but nothing over the top and it was all needed for character/story development, nothing felt unnecessary. A very mature kdrama, not many cliches or tropes, just a healing, romance kdrama.
I haven't watched this one, but I have done my research. According to different sources, they get married on episode…
Pretty much what happens like you said, nice job researching, also though a couple things you'll probably see while watching and a couple more details that might help anyone wondering.
They split up when ml goes to war after their convenience marriage around ep 18 like you said, fl says she won't wait for ml, she asks him to stay but he doesn't, ml leaves for war, and they even write a divorce letter, but then fl goes to find him again after she regrets/misses him and for other plot reasons, they reunite for a couple eps, and are all acting like a cute couple again, but then fl finds out ml's real identity, she breaks up with him, ml chase her, they make up properly, this happens within like an ep or two so very quick. Thats why I mentioned the two break ups, as they reunite after the war break up, are all cute like a couple, but then she finds out his real identity leading to a proper but short break up.
None of the break ups in my opinion were that angsty also which I liked. Overall I really liked this relationship, first break up, ml goes to war, this lasts the longest as its necessary for the plot, then second one last an ep or two after fl finds out ml's real identity but they make up very quickly after ml chases her and confesses properly. Tthere is technically a third and final one but its so minor I don't even count as a break up but thought I should mention just in case, fl distances herself from ml after finding out her own hidden identity she didn't know about, this also only lasts like one or two eps and is very minor not a break up in my opinion just kind of fl distancing herself from ml a little bit, worried she would affect his career due to her background, happens a few eps after their second break up and getting back together. Overall a really nice relationship, and the break ups/distancing aren't that angsty really and are overall super short.
Also I wouldn't sat that villain 2ml is actually after fl, at least not in an annoying way, you'll see when you watch but he wasn't really a 2ml in the generic scene, he was a psycho villain who wanted to kill ml, and only went after fl because she was married to ml which he knew, so wasn't really an annoying 2ml so don't need to worry, or at least I didn't find him annoying at all. He was only after fl because of her relationship with ml and to kind of piss off/get at ml, he wasn't like an obsessed lover/jealous type that can be really annoying, I normally dislike obsessed/jealous lover type 2ml or 2fl's so the fact I don't even consider him a 2ml should let alone know he's not that annoying so don't worry about that, actually just a fun villain to watch, I liked his craziness honestly.
Has anyone completed watching "Pursuit of Jade". Are there any breakups, or SML? Can anyone give spoilers…
Romance very good, very sweet and cute and supportive mostly, but there are two small break ups. Doesn't last long, ml leaves for war and fl breaks up with him as he leaves, at this time his identity is hidden from her, they are kind of married but ml hides his identity, he goes to war leaving fl, fl in anger breaks up with him saying she won't wait for him, but you can tell they love each other more heat of the moment from fl. She finds him during the war they reconcile but then she finds out his real identity and another mini break up before ml chases her and confesses his love. The break ups don't last long at all, especially the second one only lasts for like 1 ep, and you can tell they love each other, more just war and hidden identity getting in their way, once thats cleared no problems. Overall a very sweet romance, and a happy ending. No real annoying 2ml.
Love first responders great show but I think they broke up in season 2, like they got together in season 1 near…
Yeh very true, was unfortunate but luckily this wasn't a romance focused drama otherwise would suck even more, definitely really annoying when that happens. Thats why I like shine on me, or also dream of golden years did a good job with this, I like when theres a strong rejection towards the 2ml or 2fl rather then just never rejecting them meanwhile its obvious they like the ml or fl.
Love first responders great show but I think they broke up in season 2, like they got together in season 1 near…
Yeh, essentially from what I remember, they got together near end of s1l, but then 2ml died in a fire, so she is still hung up on his death and feels guilty, she tells ml she can't even look at him because she feels so guilty to 2ml because she choose ml over him, ml then says he doesn't like his gf crying over another man even though he also misses 2ml as they were friends, he tells her not to cry for too long and then leaves for an assignment or something elsewhere for a bit and says he will be back, so pretty much he agrees to take time apart after that for a bit while she figure out her feelings and grieves. It's a very good kdrama but if you're going to watch, watch it for the action not the romance, it's a firefighting/police kdrama.
I'm quite surprised I didn't find First Responders on the list. I watched it some time ago, so I might get some…
Love first responders great show but I think they broke up in season 2, like they got together in season 1 near the end, broke up in season 2 cause of the death of the 2ml, but reunited later. Not even sure if it was technically an break up fl just said she needed time, from memory but I feel like it still counts as a break up, I could be remembering wrong though just from memory, but great show definitely worth a watch.
I personally prefer lighthearted drama with low angst, and it is even better if the main couple stays together…
Hey not sure if you're referring to this drama or you meant to reply to dream of golden years comment I left above this one. If its about dream of golden years, I think its a good drama, the relationship is definitely very warm and steady and supportive, its not bad maybe I made it sound bad but its quite nice. The drama itself is interesting but can be repetitive, fl starts a business, some people try to sabotage, she succeeds and continues to the next business type thing, but if you don't take it too seriously its an enjoyable drama I thought. The supporting cast is very good, fl's mother, uncle, aunt friends are all very good, some annoying other jealous family member but after the first few eps they don't get much screen time.
I did definitely enjoy it as I also much prefer low angst dramas with a strong relationship same as you. This drama isn't to be taken too seriously and can at times feel a bit repetitive thats all, the middle eps can sometimes feel a bit boring sometimes when the same things keep happening but at the same time because of that theres little angst which I enjoy as well and for me it wasn't boring for long as the cats made it enjoyable. It was light hearted, the relationship was supportive and extremely stable and the cast overall was pretty good so it was an enjoyable watch for me.
I do think its a HE as well, because ml told fl he will call her name and thats exactly what he does in the real world at the end, so its a HE, I just don't like the last minute endings in general, not this one in particular but transmigration endings overall but I get they need to do, but definitely a HE.
Follow up on dream of golden years. I want to be clear, this is a fl centric, business drama first, theres a good amount of romance, and it’s enjoyable romance, but it’s not the focus. They get together officaly in ep 8 which is nice and no break up and a HE technically, but I’ll get back to this.
The romance is mature adult romance, no arguments at all, not even coming close to a break up. It’s an incredibly supportive romance, ml supports fl in whatever she does and trusts her completely, and vice versa fl does the same with ml. Nice convo in ep 10 where fl and ml talked, fl told ml she doesn’t want him making decisions about his life and work based solely on her, Ml tells fl sometimes he feels she makes decisions and tries to push him away sometimes. Not an argument or fight to be clear, it was a nice mature convo where they both openly expressed their opinions while having lunch together that helped them both realize their faults and later this ep they talk and both promise to improve and priories their relationship. Very nice and mature convo to help a relationship. Also in around ep 21, ml has trouble at work but keeps it a secret form fl, fl finds out but instead of it being a cliche, she waits for ml to tell her, which he does soon after, and they have another nice mature convo where fl supports him.
However, this drama won’t be for everyone, especially when it comes to romance. The romance started out really well but after they got together, it became a bit flat/repetitive at some points during the middle. What I mean is, the romance sometimes feels one dimensional in the middle part of the drama, we get a lot of romance scenes technically, ml and fl talking over lunch or dinner about their future work plans and how their day went etc, and then repeat this in the next ep and continue. Especially in the middle part of the drama after fl leaves college and starts businesses, the romance can sometimes feel like an after thought. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed this romance, for me it felt realistic, did not feel like a drama romance but a real world romance, where busy couples meet over lunch and dinner and talk about their day, feels real but for some people I can understand if its not for them. A lot of the time, this doesn’t feel like a romance drama, feels like a business/slice of life drama, with romance as a compliment.
A bit hard to explain, I did really enjoy the romance, it was quite simple, no angst or break up and there was a lot of the romance, but like I said, the romance was not hot and heavy or anything like, it was simple, it was an ordinary romance and I don’t mean that in a bad way. I enjoyed how simple and ordinary it was. It was ml and fl meeting after a long days work and eating and talking or just subtly supporting each other. No cliches, no angst. However be aware, its a bit weird this drama, there was a lot of romance and romantic scenes so not one of those dramas where theres barely any romance, but at times, especially in the middle the romance sometimes felt repetitive.
So don’t go into this focused on the romance I think, if you enjoy this drama the romance will make you enjoy it a lot more, but if you don’t like the drama, the romance won’t save it.
There were a few kisses and also cute moments though, with ml and fl being supportive of each other, or fearing loosing each other, so there are cute moments here and there.
I did enjoy also how fl harshly rejects 2ml, who never had a chance, but it was nice to see fl reject him properly in ep 19, as so often ml or fl’s don’t reject the 2ml or 2fl and it can be annoying.
The romance also took a big step in ep 26, when ml finds out fl is a transmigrator, but nonetheless, he believes and supports her and this was probably the biggest step in their relationship emotionally. Before this, it was clear fl and ml love each other and they discussed marriages openly, but fl always was worried what would happen if/when she disappears and at times, there was a small barrier between them you could feel sometimes. Ml finding out the truth completely removed her worries, no more secrets and finally gave her a person she could openly discuss what happened to her with. What follows are more scenes of ml and fl sitting on a rooftop talking together and planning, again not crazily romantic, but shows their simple ordinary love which I enjoyed. While some may not like a romance story like this, I enjoyed how their romance and love for each other was showed through their support for each other and how at the end of a long day, they end the day together. Again feels realistic, like what a busy working couple would do in the real world.
Now the ending, they get married in ep 32, but got damn transmigration endings, she returns to her time at the end of ep 36, and we get the cliche ml and fl looking at each other after she returns and smile. Probably the only, single cliche in this whole drama that avoided cliches so well, is the ending. I know censorship and all that, but I dislike endings like this so much, in my opinion just ignore the last 10 minutes, for me it ends with ml and fl on a rooftop enjoying fireworks before she returns.
I will say also, sometimes the fl can feel too perfect in the business world, she pretty much never suffers a set back at all, for me I didn't care as I read the novel and knew what I was getting in to, but I saw some comments say this and I can understand, feels super unrealistic how perfect her business how's no matter what, but I didn't mind about this personally.
Overall I did really enjoy this drama, but again this is not a romance drama. There is a lot of romance in it and the romance was enjoyable in how simple and straightforward it was, no angst, no cliches no breakups, just a straight forward romance with 2 people liking each other, dating and falling in love and getting married. But most scenes of ml and fl that show their relationship like I said are just them sharing a meal and enjoying each other's company. If you like a simple romance like that, this will be for you, but it won't be for everyone. For me, the rest of the drama is very endearing, a very nice mother daughter relationship, nice side couples as well that are sweet, so I guess what I mean is if you like the rest of the drama, the romance will make this drama very enjoyable, but if the rest of the drama isn't for you, the romance won't save it.
Just wanted to quickly mention Glaze of love. It's a low budget, cdrama but I enjoyed it. No break up and a HE. To be clear, theres no real plot, its not hot and heavy, its just a 20 ep, simple love story between two introverted college students. Nothing special if I'm honest, not ground breaking, but a nice simple watch. No real 2ml or 2fl's, no real angst or trouble, just two introverted characters slowly falling for each other. They become official quite late in ep like 15 or 16, can't remember exactly, but long before then its obvious they like each other, everyone sees it, just takes time for them to confirm it as they're both innocent and introverted.
Thought I'd mention this quickly, nothing special, not amazing but if you're looking for a simple, nice, innocent college romance that is stress free and just cute and warm, this is probably for you. No real plot to follow along, so if you need a strong story to follow probably isn't for you, it's just a simple, slow burn college romance between two innocent and introverted people that you can just watch and enjoy and not worry about.
I haven’t actually seen this one yet. I, too, would like to find out :)
No problem, was a while ago so can't remember all the details but essentially, Ml sacrifices himself in the last episode, he seals himself away to save the world, so he's not dead but also not alive, kind of just sealed away forever. Eventually fl learns a powerful time traveling spell allowing her to travel back in time to a happy memory with ml, and there she reunites with him and the drama ends.
So what I meant by rushed is, last ep ml sacrifices himself, fl is sad, learns a time travel spell and reunites with ml in the past, and we get a happily ever after, so its a HE, but I felt it was rushed as it ends right as fl returns to the past and sees ml again and cries. Ml has no idea she's from the future, or anything like that.
I would have preferred no time travel and ml and fl just get a happy ending without him sacrificing himself in the present, or she time travels earlier and we see their happy lives together but, it just all happens really last minute thats all, felt a bit rushed to fit all that stuff in the last ep.
Besides that, the romance and everything is was really nice, just all felt a bit rushed in the final ep thats all but didn't bother me too much as the romance throughout was pretty good and wasn't like the worst ep was bad, just wished there was like one more ep of them just happy together you know what I mean. But we get a lot of sweet and happy moments of them together throughout thats why I didn't mind too much.
Glad you enjoyed love in the clouds, for sure an angsty drama but also just makes you want to keep watching as the chemistry is very good, I normally dislike angsty drama's but this one kept me engaged.
Please come back and give us an update when all episodes are out! I am watching your other recommendation "Love…
No problem definitely let everyone knows how it went when its finished. Glad you're enjoying Love story in 1970, good way of describing their romance, they are definitely very steady which I also enjoyed. Hope you continue to enjoy it as you finish it and definitely don't worry, no break up in it at all.
ADWAD was not spared of having to add an element to get pass the transmigration, they did in the last ep add something…
No problem, can for sure be confusing and each drama is different and so many different regulations hard to keep up with. When people talk about censorship especially for rebirth or transmigration they don't really mean a ban more just how the drama will often include things to make sure it passes review, like it all being a dream or a story stuff like that. But for time travel thats normally not needed.
It's often why they make changes compared to the novel. For example like the double cdrama, in the novel the fl actually dies and is reborn in a new body, but for the drama they changed it where she just takes the identity of someone else, she actually isn't reborn. And like for this drama in the novel fl actually dies before she transmigrates but for the drama here she just falls asleep. Stuff like that is what people mean when they talk censorship, because theres a soft ban on rebirth, so pass review they make changes like that when compared to the novel. A lot of the time it's no big deal like I love the double I didn't care about the change at all, but some people find it annoying.
Thought I'd return here and mention the just started cdrama Dream of golden years. To be clear, the main focus of this drama is fl growth and business but the romance between fl and ml also plays a large part, its quite prevalent throughout, so I thought I'd mention it.
Read the novel and there was no break up, overall a nice romance. Its a mature romance, the fl transmigrated from modern times and so she's more mature and ml definitely falls first, but it was very nice seeing ml slowly creep into fl's heart and fl slowly fall in love with ml more and more. They had a few bumps but sorted it out quickly with open communication in the novel. FL realized she needed to learn to open herself up more and be a better girlfriend as she said herself, and ml also realized he needed to be more secure in their relationship and mature, so was nice seeing them both realize their faults and focus on improving their relationship throughout, a mature romance with a few bumps that were quickly resolves and the romance was quite sweet still.
Obviously may be some changes in the drama but thought I'd mention drama here ,as in ep 8 ml and fl already start dating, love to see they're dating so early in the drama, its 36 eps total. If you want an idea of the romance, I'll link a romance centric trailer below, I have high hopes there will be no break up and seems like a very supportive relationship overall, though I'm sure they'll probably be a few bumps along the road as per usual, overall seems like a very sweet, supportive and mature romance.
Only worry I have is that since its a drama where fl transmigrates from modern times into the past, its set in the 1980's, I'm worried we will get the typical cliche ending of fl returning to her original time at the last minute and staring at ml and all that nonsense which I hate, but we'll see, still traumatized from watching yummy yummy yummy. Also again this drama and the novel were both business centric but there was a lot of romance, even more in the drama then the novel so far, so thought it was worth mentioning. Anyway a pretty good start, overall the drama is pretty fun so far, a nice watch so far.
ADWAD was not spared of having to add an element to get pass the transmigration, they did in the last ep add something…
To be clear its a soft ban not a hard ban, things will often be labelled rebirth but have a last minute scene added for censorship that makes it just a dream, or a story or in a coma or something like that. You can search this up, it's all well known regulations by the NRTA for Chinese cdramas concerning transmigration, rebirth and time travel.
There are different regulations for different genres. For purely time travel, like even twelve letters, time travel is ok as long as it does not distort or disrespect Chinese history. Like ancient love song, it was ok because it was purely time travel and wasn't disrespectful to history.
However shows that include rebirth or transmigration like this one often have different regulations, rebirth and time travel are two different genres. That is why being reborn or transmigration cdramas often include scenes at the end where fl or ml wakes up in their real body, or it's just a dream, or a story or they were in a coma, like ADWAD, SOKP, journey of legend and many others.
Ofcourse there will be exceptions and loopholes to get around regulations, but it's not a full hard ban just a soft ban, meaning the dramas can air as long as they pass censorship review. Different regulations for time travel dramas, vs rebirth dramas vs transmigration dramas and theres no set rule. Each drama is independently reviewded by the review board and again its a soft ban which means they can air as long as they pass review, and often to pass review for rebirth and transmigrations cdramas they include scenes at the end like I mentioned before.
So in the novel, this is like a ‘multiverse’ type of concept? She transmigrated to another reality where her…
Oh nice didn't pick that point up, very true she could be. Wouldn't be surprised because in the novel one of the first things she did as a time traveller was stealing away fl's man, that wan Jianhua guy, which she has done and tbh so far she's not doing bad, going attending college which is big from someone from a small village.
In the novel fl made a point of saying after she found out Ziyu was a time traveller, that Ziyu always thought small, even after time traveling she just wanted to steal fl's man and attend college, she never had bigger plans like fl, she was always petty just trying to out do fl but never thinking bigger, so very possible she is a time traveller still.
Just like you I normally hate those unnecessary breaks ups and slow burn just to break up, and all that, but here it just didn't feel that bad, I think its a mix of ml and fl obviously liking each other so much and the other one/two separations after the war one are resolved so quickly they feel inconsequential.
